No, like @CCC said, stickers can only be bought over the phone. :-)

I tried to get a set of glow stickers today from S@H and was told no, no and no.

My local TRU got a new shipment of Monster Fighters. Mummy sets and VC are non-glowing stickers/prints. The Ghost Trains looked the same. Didn't check the Monster's Lab sets. I don't mind the lack of glowing stickers on the VC; quite glad I have the glowing hot rod sticker for the Hearse.

You are in the US, aren't you? I wonder if this is the cause of the difference.

I'm in Canada. Must be North America?

Would anybody in the UK be willing to help me out with a glow sheet? Gladly pay the cost, shipping, and a little bonus for helping out.

^ Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy one from bricklink? http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=117081&colorID=0

I'll be honest, I understood all 'parts' came from Denmark and it was only sets that had a separate inventory. I wonder if there's a legal reason why US/CAZ customers couldn't buy them. Has anybody in the Eu had trouble buying replacements?

...I always forget about Bricklink. Put together two full quidditch sites from it last year.

Thanks @legoboy, I forgot about BL too - and Customer Services was inexplicably closed the 2 times I tried to call. Some stickers from BL are now on their way to me, and I hold you responsible for turning me into a stickerhead.

@Si_Dorking_Survey_UK - Lol, you're not one. @kevbags has been doing a bit of 'backing up' also over the past few weeks. ;-)

If you have a problem mate, the best thing you can do is admit it. We can't help you if you don't help yourself. Trust us, you're in a good place. ;-)

No problems at all :-) If I was moving into spreadsheets etc I would step back and think again but right now I'm comfortable ;-)

^ Now that would be kind of sad!

God yeah, what kind of weirdo manages their collection in a spreadsheet?
(hmm, should I create a new tab for stickers?)

Bought two sets VC glowing stickers off of Bricklink before the prices go up or they become harder to find as the change gets out. Also picked up a couple dozen more glowing 2x1 plates. They're awesome. I didn't mind much in the way of glowing bricks on bricklink; not something LEGO does very often? Mostly accessory, minifigure or herofactory/bionicle stuff.

TRU Canada has an MF sale starting tomorrow, will pick up the Ghost Train.

Thanks for everybody's comments and suggestions!

Just curious, shouldn't brickset recognize/differentiate between the glow and non-glow versions of the affected sets?

I believe it should be mentioned in the notes section for those sets affected by the glow and non-glow versions. I might be wrong, but the only difference is the sticker sheet with the exception of set #9462. For that set, I think it should be recognized separately since there are two versions of the mummy figure (one being glow in the dark pattern, the other not.)

Don't mean to...ahem... "resurrect" this thread, but does anyone know for sure if there are indeed 2 versions of this set? Does anyone have a side by side comparison? Was this change made for North America only?

I assume you mean #9462? Yes, there are two versions. One with a glow-in-the-dark mummy and a later one with a non-glowing mummy. The hearse and the castle have versions with and without (the later version) glowing stickers.

I know this is the case for North America, but I am not sure about other areas.

Yes, I wasn't clear. Sorry about that. Is the packaging different between the two versions? Did Lego give an official reason why these changes were made?

  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
UPC is different and the packaging is different in that the one with glowing mummy shows the mummy glowing on the back of the package (I think I am remembering correctly). Same with the other sets, the back art shows the extra glowing stuff if it is the older version. Newer art does not.

@Pitfall69 If you read the first page, the first 7 posts or so explain the reason:)

Ahhhhh. I missed the post about the pigment not being "legal" worldwide. I'm on my phone and it is hard to read sometimes.

I read TLG's response and it wasn't an explanation, so that is why I asked.

The two versions of the Vampyre Castle #9468 have two distinctly different boxes:

    Glowing (original version)
The box picture shows the glowing leaves in all pictures (including the glow-feature picture on the back)
    Item: 4654245
    UPC: 673419167703

    Non-Glowing (new version)
The box picture shows normal leaves in all pictures
    Item: 6032810
    UPC: 673419195676

Internally, the spider, the vampire faces and the moon, glow in both sets. In the glowing version, the leaves stickers glow.

I can't speak to the Mummy or Hearse item or UPC numbers, as I only have the glowing versions of those, but they also have different boxes for the glowing/non-glowing stickers. Apparently it's just the "printed" glow that was changed everywhere, because all things that are made of GITD plastic (vampire heads, spiders, horses, etc.) remained the same. Only the glowing parts that were printed (castle leaves, hearse roof, mummy bandages) were removed. There was speculation as to why, but I don't remember Lego ever making any official, public announcement as to the reason.

For a while you could also buy the two versions of the mummy through bricks and pieces too. And the glow print one was about 3x the cost of the non-glow one.

I can confirm that the UK vampyre castle set was changed to non glowing stickers. I even phoned up TLC and they sent me a replacement sticker sheet (which also didn't glow).

TLC ? Sorry, I'm having a funny 5 minutes. I mean customer services.
