If people are finding the 50% off sets in quantity, please consider picking some up for us to buy off of you for the US hospital donations.

I've never seen clearance Lego at Target. Is it in the normal Lego aisle?
  • MilcheaxMilcheax Member Posts: 52
Sometimes yes, it can be mixed in the regular Lego aisle.

However in the locations local to me (6-7) they are more often at the end of the aisle.
Not on the end facing the main "walking lane" but the opposite end that usually faces the puzzles and board games.

In most cases the bottom shelf of the end where the Lego watches and cases (and other gear) sits, but sometimes on a nearby end where there's room.

Most Targets I've been in have abolished their "full aisle clearance hidden in the corner of the store" so if your Target has one, check there too.

Same sets and discounts in Troy, Mi. I picked up 6913 as I always liked it and had almost picked it up a few times on a whim at full price; liked it at $15, own it at $10:)

There are a couple times a year it's really prevalent as in a "Target Toy Clearance Event," and then periodically throughout the year things will show up clearanced without rhyme or reason. For the bigger events, they will be in the aisles marked clearance with the big 30/50/70% signs. For the rest, they could be in the normal aisle, on endcaps, anywhere. Look for the red tags on the sets in either situation.

Wow......I just got back and my target is wiped out. I'm actually surprised. Its always really stocked and have never not been able to pick up a sale item...hmmm
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
I just checked my closest Target and they don't even have shelf spots anywhere for these sets.

Grr.... I'd really like #4203 for 50% off. Do you think if I called they would tell me if it's in stock? I'd hate to drive for no reason....

@MorkMan- Usually when you call and talk to a store employee/representative they are more than happy to check if an item is in stock. Usually all they have to do is plug it into a computer/scanner so it only takes about a minute for them to give you a reliable answer.

^ Provided you have the DPCI number for the item. Otherwise it's hit or miss with how knowledgeable the person is about LEGO or how helpful they want to be to try to figure out what set you're talking about.

I've never had a problem. I'm always connected with someone from the toys department though, and usually they are at least somewhat knowledgeable.

Everything goes out the window though with Walmart. They put me on hold for 15 minutes once and I haven't called to check product availability there since.

I tried using the store locator and #4203 isnt even on the website anymore...the two creator sets are listed as "not sold in stores"

My Target has #4204 The Mine 50% off...There were four of them when I went. I'm tempted to get one.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
Were they marked 50% off or did you have to scan them?
  • pillpodpillpod Member Posts: 273
They had the red clearance sticker that said they were $49 and change. And they were in the clearance section (an endcap of an isle). I'm tempted to buy and resell but I'll probably sit this one out.

I picked up a #4203 at 50% off at my Target. There were a few on the shelves. They also had #31007 but that was only 30% off, so I left it behind. They were just on the interior end cap of the toy section under the 50% off sign.

#4204 is a fun set. Picked ours up during the Walmart misprint fiasco and it was worth it.

I just picked up an Attack on Weathertop for $17.98 (70% off). It was the only one and was located on a clearance endcap. No red clearance sticker. I assumed someone had just lazily put it there, but I decided to scan it and nearly crapped my pants when it showed the 70% off price. I then checked all of the other LOTR stuff on the LEGO aisle and nothing else was reduced. I'll occasionally happen on a LEGO set at Target at 30 or 50% off, but never 70% off.

Well I did a store check on #4204 and found it at two of the local Target stores. I called and checked with the managers and both said that its not on sale....yet.... That the set is discontinued. I was told that they might go on sale but not sure when.
  • MorkManMorkMan Member Posts: 919
My local Target Toy department guy told me that they regularly redo the layouts of different departments, and that's when you get a huge influx of clearance items. He said our Toy department wasn't due for a while, but that they had just redone the Electronics section and there was a lot on clearance. There was, but it was all junky stuff I didn't want anyay.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
Hmm, if the Mine has been discontinued I wonder what it will do this Christmas? It was a sleeper hit last Christmas. It's not the kind of set that they will re-do any time soon.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I actually really really like the mine set. It was the first that I bought two of when I came out of my darkage. I have a big part of my town layout devoted to the mine. Its actually the main economic engine for my city. When completed it will connect to a refinery and to the docks and rail for shipping. I hope I can get another one or two on sale.

Found quite a few #6913 at the Desert Ridge Target in Phoenix. Didn't pick any up as I was hoping to find #31007

It's hard to read just numbers or click. Small request to at least throw a small word ID to the set(s) you're talking about.

I stopped by my local Target to see if I would have any discounts.

Most sets in the aisle were marked down a whopping $.90... with "price cut" stickers all over the place.

I think the amount paid for the stickers by Target was more than the combined amount they discounted their sets.

If you can wait until Sunday, supposedly there will be BOGO 50% on City. Those excavator transporter sets will be nice to pick up then.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
^^My local Target also had miniscule sales. Most Star Wars sets and MF were 5% off. None of the City sets were on sale. They didn't even have the excavator listed on the shelf.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
Does anyone have the DCPI number for the listed sets?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
    #4203 Creator Excavator Transporter 204-00-0490
    #31007 Power Mech 204-00-0601
    #6913 Creator Blue Roadster 204-00-1171

I was able to get 5 of #6913 for 50% off and 3 for 30% and will be checking a few more places on my drive tomorrow. Whoever is handling the US hospital stuff let me know how that is being handled. I also have another speeder I got when ordering something to get the Iron man poly.

^ Looking at the online ad implies that all Lego Galaxy Squad are BOGO 50.
  • llanowarsoldierllanowarsoldier Member Posts: 357
The Target Ad in todays paper says all lego is BOGO 50% doesn't list any restrictions at all. If that is the case I'm going to pick up some Creator sets.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
^ I just stopped by my local Target. It's limited to Galaxy Squad and City only. I was tempted by a couple of GS sets, but even with a BOGO it's not a great deal compared to Amazon's pricing.

Scored a single Lex Luthor Powerarmor for 25% off and the A-wing for $18, otherwise nothing tasty left. But did score on the Blu-ray Superheroes movie for Clark Kent fig at the awesome price of $13.99. The regular DVD is $19.99 on S@H, so thought this was a smashing deal.

There's a teeny tiny asterisk which refers you to the bottom of the page. Look again.

It should be known by now that one should never buy a DVD of S@H. Odds are every other store (including Toys R Us) will have it cheaper.

    On topic:
Has anyone seen any of the new Galaxy Squad sets at their local Targets?

I found a couple of ploybags at target today. #30014 and #30013. Picked up a few city sets and a GS set.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
I was able to find 3 of the #4203 sets at my Target for $19.99 and the BOGO. Wish they would have had an even number, but I'm still pleased I found it. Also, it wasn't marked clearance but rang up that way. Thanks @norm103

Is the current Target BOGO a good deal or better then TRU's BOGO deals???
  • iancam33iancam33 Member Posts: 407
Target is almost always better. TRU has higher prices from the get-go not to mention they raise the prices when they have a "sale." You must really pick and choose when buying from TRU. This is not to say that you can't get a good deal from them. I personally have worked the system to save lots of money through TRU.

I went yesterday and found a 9470 for 70% off with no red sticker. It was in the endcap with some other Creator clearance items. That was nice I guess, not really looking to get into LOTR but the spider is cool. And at $5.98 you can't beat it.

went to two targets in my area.
no decent sale on any set at all.... one had #4203 but it was @39.99 :( i guess the markdown was for specific area target.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,836
It must be nice to live near these mythical Targets that have quantities of these sets on sale and readily available
Checkout two Targets and those sets were not even in the store, let alone clearance'd.
I'm not sure if it is because of AFOLs with nothing better to do in the mornings stakeout all of the stores near me or what, but I never see many clearance sets at Targets or Walmarts for that matter.

I was able to find two #31007 at my local Target.....while out shopping I found 3 #9468 Vampire castles at a Walmart for $69.....I picked up one. I am thinking I might go back and pick up the other two or do I roll the dice and see if they drop lower?....Hmmmm.
