Now that I think about it...

How are you going to do it for the shipping?
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
@legoprods Are you asking about the shipping of prizes? If so then once the winners are known I'll request their address details and then coordinate with the prize donators to get them sent out. Prize winners DO NOT pay pay for shipping.

Of course you could have been asking a different question ;-)

    Not long left! Exciting!!

Kev, when are you going to draw the winners? Tomorrow?
Also, if the first name picked out gets to choose their prize, I guess we have to wait until they've been contacted and decided before you can draw the rest?
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
I'm hoping to have all tickets verified, written and folded by 7pm tomorrow night. Shortly after then the first name will be drawn and the winner emailed to select their prize. Then I can announce both the winner and prize at the same time.

Hopefully that happens quickly and after that all other winners and prizes will be drawn in turn and posted directly here.

^ I think the winner's name should pulled and announced LIVE. :o)
  • legoprodslegoprods Member Posts: 445
@kevbags Exactly that! So, sadly, I guess a bit of the donations will go in shipping the prizes out. Or maybe the people who have the prizes will "donate" their shipping costs ;-)

@Legoboy Wonderful idea! One of those live streaming sites are easy to set up, arent they? Like the own TV thingy.

@legoprods - I actually meant to announce it here live. The idea of the Hairy Fairy dressing up and televise the draw hadn't crossed my mind, but it could be arranged I suppose. :op

No money received from ticket sales will be used to pay for shipping :-) All costs are being funded by donators.

While for some a live tv stream could be easy to set up you're dealing with a man who wouldn't use a computer to hold the draw and has hand written thousands of tickets ;-) I'm more abacus than calculator.

A live announcement would work if there was a definate first prize and if all entries were board members. Will the first name drawn 100% pick Mr Gold? I don't think so. Not sure on a number but a reasonable number of people have bought tickets without a Brickset presence at all. I don't want to announce a name and then have everyone waiting for a substantial length of time until the winner decides.

Big thanks to @polarbomber who has sent me a #3661 Bank And Money Transfer as a direct hospital donation :-) Very much appreciated.

  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
    Another great announcement :-)

@Supersympa has just returned from a meeting and I'm pleased to tell you all that funds will now be helping a hospital in Sweden. Great job Eric. I know this was a difficult one to arrange.

No. Assuming £3K is raised (wow!) I know for sure that there is at least a 0.1666% chance that the winner will pick something else.

@Legoboy the Black Sabbath song "Fairies Wear Boots" springs to mind for the theme tune!

11pm tonight Rich. I need my beauty sleep and want to be there with live updates. Kind of like the football scores on the vidiprinter or live score ticker for our American friends :-)

Dip away Geoff. There is at least one triple dip already :-)

Just a reminder folks that the live total updates start from 10:20pm ish. As soon as Game Of Thrones finishes. Tune in then to find out the total before everything closes at 11pm!

Now I'm not really one for fanfare so if @LegoFanTexas you can supply the razzle and @Pitfall69 the dazzle it should make for an interesting count up instead of count down :-)

Doh added just before me. Adjust time quickly :)

@kevbags abacus must have been struggling to calculate all the new entries :)

Impressive effort by all involved. From the organiser @kevbags to all of the donators and contributors. I am happy to say I am proud to be a part of this little community. :)
