This is my first time here. I'm not sure if you've seen this yet. It was sent to Game Informer Magazine.

Wow nice find! First I've heard of this. Feels like Tony Stark's lab but actually released as a set instead of just instructions. Nice but curious how many will be given away and the subsequent market price it will command?

The end of that article confused me for a sec. "We'll find out then what piece of the Star Wars universe will become the world's largest Lego set." Thought that meant they were going to be announcing a new set that would be the biggest ever but one of the other articles says "they will be unveiling the world’s largest LEGO model" which makes more sense that they would just build something huge as a PR event.
  • jeremy1973jeremy1973 Member Posts: 50
Is it the world largest model for production?
  • mutley777mutley777 Member Posts: 22
This looks like the first Star Wars set I will have to miss out on. :-(

Unless they come down in price dramatically .
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275

Thats what I thought it meant at first but the other article makes it seem like what they are unveiling is just a large model they have built for display. So just something they put together to promote the Yoda Chronicles but not as a new set.

"Back at Toy Fair 2013 -LEGO hinted at an event coming up later this year with their NYC themed LEGO Star Wars Yoda giveaway. Well, it looks like that event is upon us! LEGO sent out press kits this week announcing that on May 23rd in Times Square, they will be unveiling the world’s largest LEGO model. To catch our attention (and yours) they included a press kit exclusive set featuring a Star Wars Lego Chronicles environment with 3 mini figures. To check out the entire press kit in high resolution, read on!"

Earlier in the article it says "Lego is also unveiling the 'world's largest Lego model' on May 23 in New York's Times Square at 11 AM.

^ I've heard about this and from what I can tell it will be spectacular. I'm not sure if it was privileged information or not, so I won't spoil the surprise here.
  • ISDAvengerISDAvenger Member Posts: 205
Question is, will it be a play set or will it be a model of a character?

I should hope so. There are some *huge* models out there, so if it is indeed *the biggest*, it's going to have to be gigantic.
  • drdavewatforddrdavewatford Administrator Posts: 6,755
    ^ Yep !
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
Pretty cool, and I wonder who the female figure is? Someone needs to post the full instructions so we can build this if we want to. And I've seen life-size water monsters, etc. at Disneyworld, so this model has got to be massive. I'm thinking a 30-40 foot tall Yoda sculpture? lol

Full size 1:1 scale X-Wing in LEGO?
    JBricks27
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
    Maybe that isn't epic enough...

Full size 1:1 scale Falcon in LEGO? :)

Now that would be UCS! :)

:) Actually, that was my first thought, but it would of course be silly, since they can't do that.

A full size X-Wing, perfectly doable... a full size Falcon? Hard to do, expensive, and huge, perhaps pointless, but it could be done.

The DS, as fun as it sounds, could not be. :)

according to Wookiepedia, the Falcon is:
    Length 34.37 meters
    Width 25.61 meters
    Height 8.27 meters

yeah, it's doable. would need some serious internal supports no doubt, and a ridiculous amount of pieces. Probably completely impractical and silly expensive to even attempt.
  • mutley777mutley777 Member Posts: 22
Ok, now I know there is the much rumoured 10236 Ewok Village set but maybe, just maybe could this be MB Bricks UCS Sandcrawler that is in Cuusoo review?

    God I hope so!

All true, but if TLG really, really wanted to do it, it could be done.

The internals would be a steel frame, just the external shell would probably be LEGO bricks.

^ though I doubt it would be in the middle of Times Square. :)

Nothing suggests they'll be announcing a new set.

All kidding aside, while it is true that you wouldn't really have that in the middle of Times Square, you have to admit it would be the photo op of a lifetime to have a full size Falcon in the middle of Times Square...
  • BastaBasta Member Posts: 1,259
They could still do a MF, doesn't have to be "Full Size".
  • cavegodcavegod Member Posts: 811
A full size At-At! seriously though I'm thinking it's a set; could be the Ewok village but doubtful at the suggested price for it. The UCS Sandcrawler is a possibility but I would not have thought that would pass the review anyway. It could also be a secret set for next year release and they are showing now so everyone can save up for it!
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
If it is the biggest retail set they've ever made I hope it is the AT-AT UCS (would be biggest as in height I would imagine, going off Cavegod's model). If it is a 1:1 Xwing in Lego then I hope they make a nicer job of the nose than the new UCS model.

This is one time I'm happy hubby doesn't love Star Wars because he does love press kits!
  • frankelfrankel Member Posts: 44
I'm pretty sure the press set is this:
    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jedi_Temple_Holocron_Vaults

Maybe it's a clue to the model being released? Or just a cool set to get everyone excited.
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
In the latest club magazine they have a contest to guess what they're going to build. The picture is of parts from #9493 X-Wing. So that's my guess. I'llbe there Thursday morning to see for myself

Am I the only person thinking it could be the unveiling of a 6000+ pc Ewok Village set?
  • frankelfrankel Member Posts: 44
@Paperballpark I'm hoping it is! I have no idea what that would do with the whole Yoda Holocron stuff though. But an Ewok Village would certainly be better than another awful Clone Wars Yoda.

Looks cool, but I'm not gonna spend a thousand on 400 pc Star Wars set.

Unlikely, I hear Ewok village is expected to cost $200 or so.

Of course, if I'm wrong, then that would be really cool, but I just don't see TLG making such a set.

    We shall see. :)
  • jeremy1973jeremy1973 Member Posts: 50
Has anybody seen any pictures from Times Square? Did they start building it?
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^Typically, giant models such as this aren't built on location, so much as transported there after the fact, so I doubt many people have actually seen it yet.
  • mrseatlemrseatle Member Posts: 410
In the lego magazine there was a picture clue, that showed a few parts hovering and one of the pieces was an R2 head, so maybe it will be an X-wing afterall...
  • legoprodslegoprods Member Posts: 445
    15 minutes to go!

    We shall see.
  • cavegodcavegod Member Posts: 811
    ^ to what?
  • legoprodslegoprods Member Posts: 445
To... when we have 3 days left till the day of the unveiling.

Thought it was today... damn ;-)
