Yeah I guess... it is 2 inches. To me it doesn't make sense though, unless REAL snowboards have their length printed on them? o well
  • jadeirenejadeirene Member Posts: 474
^ Real snowboards do have their length printed on them.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
^ Ah ok, then that's pretty cool attention to detail. I never knew because I haven't been boarding in years and was never really into it, would always rent boards.

I ventured out to a TRU today to pick up the Marina for $35... And found Series 5 at the customer service desk. Multiple boxes. Lake Grove, NY. I've marked it on the map.

Oh snap Will. Guess I know where I am going later today.

One thing I will say about this series, is that quite a few of them don't have easily recognizable accessories, so feeling around in the package for them is quite tricky.

Has anyone seen a dot guide posted? I don't see one on the main page, but I labeled all the packaging as I took the figs out, so I should be able to put a guide together if one doesn't exist...

^I completely disagree. I groped bags for 5-10 minutes and was able to correctly feel the 11 unique figures they had left.
Here's some of the items I felt for:
    Cave Woman: Club
Graduate: 2x2 diploma plate and cap
    Evil Dwarf: helmet
    Lumberjack: Axe
    Detective: Magnifying glass
Boxer: Torso with boxing gloves attached
Royal Guard: hat and long rifle
Fitness instructor: long hairpiece and boom-box
    Gangster: gun and violin case
    Snowboarder guy: Snowboard

I've also been labeling my bags and will put together a dot-code guide assuming my codes are different than the ones already posted for the UK figures.

^I found the short clown to be a bit difficult, admittedly because I expected the pie to be concave on the bottom - it is not. Maybe I'm just out of practice...
  • NicksBricksNicksBricks Member Posts: 307
The clown is the only character with a brim around the whole hat. That is how I identified him.
  • kylejohnson11kylejohnson11 Member Posts: 508
@NicksBricks the Gangster has one too.

For the small clown, I noticed finding the legs to be the easiest (one of two with short legs). If you can find the short legs then it is pretty easy to rule it to either be a Dwarf or a Clown.

@NicksBricks the Gangster has one too.
I should clarify, the clown hat is very small compared to the gangsters' so it's easy to tell the difference between the two. Anyway, that was the method that worked best for me. For the gangster, I used the carrying case.

Confirmed in Fairview Heights, IL, although the box was sold out by the time I got there.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
Tigard, OR store had them yesterday, but they have apparently sold out for now.
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
^I only bought 11 of them from there at about 3:00... left a handful in the box.
  • kylejohnson11kylejohnson11 Member Posts: 508
@dougts that's suprising. Their inventories showed 240 on Saturday night. I was there first thing on Sunday and they had 1 box out. I'm guessing they have 3 more out back.

I even asked at the counter and the lady called back to somebody on the radio who said they were all out. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about (I could hear him), but he didn't exactly go look, and I didn't push the issue too hard. I'm not in any real hurry since I don't collect these and only want 4 or 5 certain ones.
  • jwsmartjwsmart Member Posts: 298
I just called a different TRU today (Riverhead, NY) , and they still had not received them.
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
Picked up 10 at the Fairview Heights, IL TRU. Left about 1/2 a box. Didn't take the time to feel the packages. $2.99 was the going price.

Lego Store in Kenwood mall Cinicinnatti had 9 boxes to start. I think they were down to 4 to 5 boxes as of today.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,791
This is the reason why I just get a box.. yeah you have extras, but I want one set to open, my gf wants one set to have, I want one set sealed (or extra open set in the case of the 'bump' packs, I do miss the codes) so I have a few extra...
  • VaderXVaderX Member Posts: 220
Buy a full box, feel out the ones you want at home. Take back left overs = done with search and no unwanted figs. BTW this series was much easier for me to use the feel method than 4 or 3. I bought two boxes the first day they arrived at TRU in the afternoon and someone had already picked out many dwarves and gangsters, plus a full set. but being two full sets per box i got my two full sets and a couple extra dwarves too so i cant complain. now for series 6 lol

How quickly to these things become discontinued/rare/can't find anymore?

On of the TRUs near me still had a number of Series 4 and the Lego Store near me had tons and tons of Series 3. Pick up 6 Series 3 for $15 when I was there yesterday.

Mercifully Lego fixed it production numbers with Series 2 and I think really achieved what they wanted, which was a Lego mystery pack that a child could find to buy.. It is a shame that it also took a price of 2.99 USD retail to also stop those hoping to make a quick buck on nothing but hording the minfigs....
But I found Series 4 packs at a TRU (But some ....'person' bought a box and actually told the store they were going to return what they didn't want back to the store) so I could not just grab a few random packs or Series 5 to use for my TRU reward bucks.
I really hope TRU institutes some sort of non return policy on these....

My son is very disappointed when TRU tells us someone bought two complete boxes. Kids aren't even given an opportunity to collect these sometimes.

My wife found them at the Canton MI WalMart so I'd expect to see them show up at Target as well.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
I'd say expect them at Targets starting this weekend as they will likely place them in the Halloween sections being put together. One Target I went to had them in the stock room and wouldn't bring one box up when I asked because they were "...scheduled to be on the floor on September 4." He also said they couldn't sell them early because they were "collectable." Rrrright.

Price at my local TRU went up to $3.49 - glad I had a $5 coupon.

I was at the BabiesRUs tonight and they were having a sale where you got $10 off a $50 purchase or $25 off a $100 purchase. I asked a store employee and he said the CMF's were not included so I bought some any way. When I checked out they were ringing up at $3.49 and the tag said 2.99. When I questioned the clerk she said they were ringing up for $2.63 so I just took them and was glad they weren't $3.49. There were 2 partial boxes when I left at the Lakewood store. Cleopatra's head was missing though.

One of the TRU by me had series 2 marked up to 4.99 a pack just before they sold out! wow I'm glad i only paid 1.99 for them right before. All others i have bought since @ BOGO for 2.25 a pack so no grumbles here. Series 3 jumped around from BOGO 2.99 to 3.49 then get one free with 30 dollar purchase. Good luck with the hunt.

Funny you mention that. I got one that maybe was missing the graduate's head. I thought maybe my son lost it after he opened it but I searched the packs and the only areas we were when when we put them together and found nothing. So maybe it did come missing.

Usually TRU bumps prices in lieu of having BOGO sales because BOGO50 for Series 5 packs would be too good of a deal for people.

Well, this may help some folks... they've started showing up at Target for 2.99... true, there's no sale, but at least they're there, and folks may feel more comfortable feeling them up on the toy aisle instead of at a customer service desk.

Went to the TRU closest to me here in Columbus,OH and they had 3 boxes out in the Lego section and within a 20min period I managed to pick out all 16 figures just by feeling them. I also grabbed an extra Grad and Boxer. The most difficult one to figure out was the Gangster IMO and easiest being the Cleopatra figure.
