It seems your option number 2. was correct.....
With that in mind it appears that with it at full price they might make an extra "1 Million Dollars!"
As for the B-Wing it is a fringe ship at best in the movie cannon, the model looks nice but simply put it isn't an X-Wing... my guess is come the end of the year this will be heavily discounted as TLG gets rid of their stock to make way for the next UCM, who knows
Its always been a question that ive never seen answered :(
Confirmed for King of Prussia, PA.
It doesnt perform the numbers, and blocks inventory. A decision ( by ANY business) has to be made to recoup longterm losses, as well as immediate stockroom space.
When do you mark down this stinker? During your best chance to move the product....a promotion in it's theme.
Is it fair to the rest of your consumer base? It is fair from a business standpoint. It's also fair from a standpoint of continuing to broaden your lines, learning from this mistake, and benefitting future releases to your whole market.
50% discount/loss isnt a win for US consumers, it's damage control for overstocked backrooms...and Lego US market budget drives.
If that is really true or not, we're all just guessing, but I do believe it.
UCS X-Wing is probably replacing UCS B-Wing
If the set isn't extremely popular now, would people be willing to pay top dollar for it after it retires?
Does anyone think the set will go down more or should I go for it in a few hours?
Still... if this DOES clear it out... even if it's considered to be not that great a set, the seven month lifespan could have quite an impact. Personally, I'm going to try to get one extra, which I don't think I should have any trouble selling for ~$230 once it's officially EOL.
Edit-- whoops. Needed to wait 30 more seconds
boom.
