I get the odd bargain in charity shops. Had a medium sized box of bits and bobs a few months ago and then there this one. Plus today I saw 4 of the Lego Knights figures (like the bionicle ones) in a charity shop for 2.50 each, had to resist buying them. Whenever I see Lego I feel the urge to buy it even though I may not want/need it.

Not really sure if I even want the Technic sets I bought on Saturday just can't pass things up. Plus I also seem to have more Technic sets with in one of the boxes. I have a set of the Technic guys and what seems to be a go kart.

@coachie Depends on the charity shop, the big charity ones will mark things up right, the little one in a side street for the local cats home will just sell things cheap. If the books are 50p, you may find a Lego bargain

I have had a great eBay purchase which arrived today, all seven of the Lord of the Rings sets from the first wave, not including the Minifigures, for £40. I intend to part them out and am delighted as one might imagine.

Last Saturday at a Goodwill I got set #7776 for $3.49. It is only missing two very common parts and some of the stickers. It had the instructions and a taped up box, plus lots of other bricks thrown in.

Just got lucky at Target, found a Ninjago Jay's Storm Fighter #9442 for $1.56. It was obviously a return for a Christmas gift as there was still wrapping paper stuck to the box. Guess the associate didn't want to look up the price. My son's going to be very happy.

By the numbers: 11,590 bricks for $20 ($0.0017 per piece), including 139 minifigures (73 from Star Wars)

The story: Strolling the 2012 neighborhood garage sale, I would ask neighbors if they had any LEGO bricks for sale, even if none were visible. Good thing as one revealed a hidden trash bag of toys: LEGO, MegaBloks, KNex, Hot Wheels, Tinker Toys, army men, etc.

After purchase, sorting revealed 25 pounds of LEGO and 8 pounds of MegaBloks (all HALO sets). The majority of LEGO bricks were from Star Wars sets, some even released new that same year! Thirteen other themes were present including Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Prince of Persia.

The haul also included parts from at least 139 minifigures, with one catch: they were all completely disassembled: hands from arms, arms from torsos, and legs from hips. (Who does that?) It took hours of research to match all the faces with bodies. Finally, after several months of on-and-off effort to catalogue as I integrated all into the rest of my inventory, I can report the totals above. Phew!

Bought 12 pounds of parts for $7 at a yard sale yesterday. It contained one box of vintage 1970's bricks which yield a handful of clear 2x2 and 2x4 bricks which I needed to complete a 110 and 112 universal building sets. (I thought I would never find any). The other box had newer parts and a partially assembled 6066 Camouflaged Outpost. It had the manual and every single part including all 6 minifigs except new bow (no box, though). Also contained manuals and minifigs for these sets, but I have not had time to go through the parts. They are small sets. SW 7139, SW 7203, SW 7204, 6872, and 6605
    6604. I'm happy.

I recently won an auction 18 lb. lot for $350. I knew it had almost complete #7622 MTT, #6211 Imperial Star Destroyer & #10144 Sandcrawler but I have also found parts & printed pieces for:

    #6210 Jabba's Sail Barge
#7625 Temple of the Crystal Skull (no baseplate though)
    #7198 Fighter Plane Attack
    #7307 Flying Mummy Attack
    #7621 Lost Tomb
    #7623 Temple Escape
#7683 Fight on the Flying Wing (included large wing)
    #8632 Mission 2: Swamp Raid
    #8971 Aerial Defense Unit
    #70004 Wakz' Pack Tracker

One that is either #7663 or 7961 also. Leaning towards the #7663 Darth Maul's Sith
Infiltrator. Oh and a Henry Jones Sr. keychain. Still have quite a bit to sort, plus they all gotta go through dishwasher before I can really see how much I have of each. Like Christmas for me lol

Today I managed to bag a #10184 Town Plan, all parts are still bagged although all of the number "4" bags are missing, (these make up the town hall), both instruction books are included and in very good condition and the sticker sheet is unused apart from the town map sticker is missing, the box on the other hand is in dog order, well beaten up with some "City Line" sticker on it.
The cheapest incomplete set on Bricklink is roughly £84 from the US and that is for the Cinema only, the only one available from the UK is used & complete and the asking price is £230. Ebay prices seem to be anything between £100-£200+
I paid the grand sum of..... £40.00
Also bought 7 X series 10 mini-figs from WH Smith today as well, just grabbed them with no bag fondling or squeezing and luckily all 7 were different.............. Which was nice.
    Some #10184 pics.....

Only this afternoon whilst being wheeled around our local games and 2nd hand Lego shop looking for 'It'll help me feel better Lego' I found a mint condition original Geonosian on the £1.49 or 5 for £5 board. Considering that that is quite a bit cheaper than the cheapest I've found on BL, I am a very happy bunny indeed, as is my husband who the figure is for. Still need to find my feel better kit or CMF though...

Also a while back had Jabba's Palace for £60 from JL which seemed a steal really and last November had a shirtless Darth Maul in sealed Polybag with a Urak-Hai Sealed Polybag for £5.19 and free delivery. Was so worth getting up at 3am to bid on that!

At a yard sale yesterday, I found a Lego 1676 Basic Trial Size set (1990) in the box. The end of the box was opened, but I found the bricks in their original factory packaging along with the base plate, door, window and instructions. Certainly not a valuable find, but it was fun. I paid 50 cents for it.

Within the last few days, I've decided to start collecting the Creator houses. I've picked up all of the current ones and decided to check out an out of the way ToysRUs since you can occasional find their overpriced stock years after EOL so I went there looking specifically for #5771 Hillside House and hit the jackpot. There it was. Mint box and sealed! Paid $5 over retail but picked up the Creator eagle set for 40% so I saved an entire dollar, which at TRU is a friggin' steal.

Interesting find here, but first some background info: I live in Brazil, where LEGO is usually three times more expensive than in the US. Thankfully, I have relatives abroad and travel somewhat often, so I normally won't buy anything locally.

The other day, I walked into the only LEGO store in my city to show my wife a couple of sets and noticed that they sell the modulars for the equivalent of $400 to $500. Way too expensive for the current sets, but they also had a couple of Green Grocers, and they were the cheapest of all the modulars (probably because they were imported a long time ago)!

I had a hard time convincing the wife to let me pay that much for a set, but at half the going price in the US, it felt like a great find! I even went through all of the shelves to see if they had a CC hidden somewhere, but I guess that's too much to wish for.

I've just ordered the 7965 Falcon from Argos for £97 for my husband which I feel is a good price :) Delivery was free and it only cost me £3 to have it delivered tomorrow, yay! They seem to have between 25% and a 1/3 off a few star wars lego sets and a bit off a few other themes too. Oooh and as I threw 2 series 10 packets into my trolley I got a £10 off next purchase voucher too, happy days!

We get some good ones around here, but I generally miss out on most from the lag time between posting and google reader picking them up.

But we also get a lot of d-bags that also over hype up sets they got on clearance right away, quoting inflated TRU prices as reg retails and people fall for them. I'm sure there are some b-wings up for $250 already.

I bought what I though were three S6 romans on ebay, from an auction using a stock photo. When they arrived, it turned out they weren't S6 romans at all. They were S2 spartans. I'm so glad some people don't know their history all that well.

30-35 lbs of bulk including the #6285 Black Seas Barracuda (no instructions or box) which appears to be very close to complete based on the parts we've pulled so far. Remainder is castle and space sets from the '90's or earlier. About 50 complete minifigs, a lot of pieces from #9376 based on parts found including the dragon, ghost and skeleton. Definitely one of our better buys of bulk!

Hi all. Never the best way to introduce yourself to a new group of people, with a boast, but it's unavoidable!

Had an incredible couple of finds in the past fortnight or so. A couple of weeks ago, I found 2 complete boxes of Series 1 minifigures for sale in a branch of WHSmiths! Not just for sale, on sale too! 50p a packet! I had palpitations for hours afterwards! ;o)

Oh, and then yesterday I found a little figure called Mr Gold too!

    Am rather pleased, oddly enough!
