edited August 2011 in Everything else LEGO
I know it may be a bit early and maybe we are all spoiled because spring/summer 2011 has been a FANTASTIC roll out period for TLG, but August is usually the time when we start hearing/seeing rumors for the 1st half of the next year. Anyone heard any rumors? Just curoius. Hoping that TLG group can build upon what has been a phenomenal year in my opinion.

Obviously Lego Super Heroes falls into the early 2012 range, so no doubt we'll hear more shortly.

I'm wondering when that Volkswagon Van is coming out.

Well, over in the Star Wars line there will apparently be a new TIE Fighter with four figures (Imperial Officer, new Death Star Trooper, TIE Fighter Pilot and new Astromech R5-J2) and another as-yet-undisclosed set containing a Queen Amidala figure.

Expect we'll see the first wave of marvel sets as suggested at the launch. In time for the avengers movie.
    Also some girl theme.

I believe on eurobricks it was stated that a ucs b-wing is coming someone who knew a lego employee posted it with some other info about this years wave 2 sets which proved accurate. Also read somewhere that two subthemes for city will be construction and hospital in 2012.

I've speculated previously that Coast Guard will be the third City subtheme next year, the same as last time, 1 year after harbour, and as the minifigs seem to be making an appearance again. I've also heard construction and hospital for 2012 first half.
There is also the 'Friends' theme http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53012&st=0

@prof1515 - I had seen the news on the Tie Fighter and the figures, other than the figures, SW is getting tiresome. I now have 3 minifig scale MFs and I think as many TIE Fighters. Hope the City Line proves to be a winner. Could use maybe a medical transport plane or helicopter? Construction should be interesting as it seems we have exhausted the amout of yellow steel tractors.....

@wagnerml2 couldn't agree more getting bored of the rehashes even if they are improvements as in the case of the tie. What we need are new originals sets or perhaps sets that are long overdue for a redo. Prof1515 had raised the idea of tattoine and jabba sets and this is my hope for 2012 though with the rotj 30th aniversary in 2013 that would probably be the more likely time

I understand that the collectable minifig range will continue to delight us with a skateboarder and surfer alternating in every set. :oP

New construction would be cool, I'm ok with the Coast Guard as well. I'm kinda burned out on Star Wars sets though...

I'm looking forward to the Hospital theme...my town has no Dr.'s! Also I'm more interested in the DC sets.

Wow a UCS B wing.... hmmm hope this comes true
  • bellybutton290bellybutton290 Member Posts: 453
@macmon me too! UCS B wing would be simply amazing huge pinch of salt required with that rumour though. As I stated above the "source" had what turned out be accurate information regarding this years second wave Star Wars sets and this was sometime back roughly when 7879 hoth echo base was realeased. So this does lend a little support to the rumour but I am being very cautious not to get too excited.

those star wars sets sound really nice. I hope that they are more then just rumors
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
^^ You think they sound good? Beyond the battlepacks, there is only one set (Geonosian Canon) that is not a remake. I was hoping for some more originality.
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
^ Well, the game is not a remake nor are the planet sets they are talking about either. I am not saying they will or wont be great, but they will be original.
  • bellybutton290bellybutton290 Member Posts: 453
@wagnerml2 a fair few redo's there I agree. Y-wing could be a winner in my book, not had the chance to get that one previously. Endor battle pack aswell is a certain purchase for me if the rumoured figs are accurate. Could be a cheap 2012 on the SW lego front, Ha Ha. Also interested in the x-wing, TRU still have loads of the previous one with the 6 figs at my local store! not sure about these Planet sets either but at least they are original as pantenkind said. Anyone else notice no hoth next year? hopefully that little theme is all done and dusted for a while it was getting very boring.

...there is only one set (Geonosian Canon) that is not a remake.
There was a Geonosian cannon with the original 4478 Geonosian Fighter.

^^ You are correct, @prof1515. However I assume this will be a much more detailed version. I hope so, anyway. I am anxious to see the planet sets, but SW seems like a snoozer for me at least for 2012. Maybe they are really pushing hard for the 30th anniversary ROTJ sets year after next.

There are rumors of a new Dinosaur theme, akin to Dino Attack/Dino 2012. Some people are theorizing that this is a continuation of Pharaoh's Quest, although as far as I know, that's just pure speculation at this point.
