New parts alerts?

PhiloPhilo Member Posts: 5
Could it be possible to have an alert when new parts are added to the database?
Summaries like Latest instructions for new parts would be appreciated too!

Parts are added if they appear in new inventories, so it should be possible. I'll add it to my list...

Yet another reason why Brickset is in such great hands! Make a reasonable and helpful request and Huw immediately let's us know he's on it!

I've tweaked the code to record the date that parts are added and run the importer, which runs once a week on a Sunday.

It's picked up four new sets, including the 3 Iron Man ones, which have 22 new parts in them. So, all I need to do now is create a report to show them.

    Bear with...

It is done. A report is available, and is linked to on the inventory alerts. e.g.

Parts won't be added in any other way, so that will hopefully suffice.

In the new interface, I can't find a way to see the newly added parts. Did I miss something?

Do you keep data on date added? So on the new parts page, if I go to 2014 can I list all new parts added so far during the year and sort by date. That way, I don't need to try every date to see if anything was new, and I don't need to look again at parts I have already seen.

Not currently but I could probably add it.

Thanks Huw - though as mentionned by CCC it's tough to find the date recent parts were added. Eg. 182 inventories were added on feb 16 2014 but http://brickset.com/parts/new-16-02-2014 returns only 2 parts (and nothing in the few days before/after)

The 182 was erroneous, there was an problem which was causing all 2014 sets to be rescanned. I think there were only 2 new ones on that day. Yesterday the number (22) is correct and the new parts are at http://brickset.com/parts/new-02-03-2014
