Back story... I've wanted to build a modern modular police station out of a couple of #7498 Police Stations. I picked one up last year for $50 and was waiting until I found the other one for $50.

I went to Walmart looking for the Quinjet set (still can't find it) for a good price and found three police stations on the shelf. I heard some of you guys say that sometimes the sets aren't labeled with the lower price so I scanned a set and it came up at $15. I scanned it twice more because I couldn't believe it!

Needless to say, I snapped up all three sets. $300 of Lego for $45.

It's pretty minor but I won a $100 Lego gift card for $80 (just received it and verified it's balance). If I use that with my 10% coupon and some VIP rewards it should result in a nicely discounted set.

Picked up a lot on craigslist today. Was advertised as "30 pounds of clean Lego for $30" Got it today, downside is the pieces are FILTHY and most of the minifig heads had been removed with teeth at one point or another. Up side is that it was closer to FORTY pounds (and the price can't be beat) and it had a smattering of classic castle and pirate, some newer kingdoms stuff, and a good amount of SW including ALL the minfigs for #7261 including the Mace Windu with the light up lightsaber! Funny thing is that all the figs are there, as well as the speeder, the watch tower and the little outbuilding, but NONE of the tank is there! Still, I love the green scout, the flying clone trooper and Mace. What an awesome minifig set! Also inexplicably there isn't a SINGLE lightsaber in the entire lot! Not bad for a local find!

    @Shpadoinkle

Do you need the rest of the #7261 to go with the mini-figs ;-)

I just stopped in at TRU to pick up a magic set and decided to look in the LEGO section. I walked out with #8679 for $54, #9509 for $24, #9675 for $5, and #9674 for free (because I spent over $60).

There is an ad on Chicago Craigslist for an open box but sealed bags Eiffel Tower for $300. The ad is dated Feb 2. I don't know if it's still available, but the ad is still up.

It's 5 hours from me, but figured I'd share the find for some lucky person in or near Chicago.

First post on Brickset! Cool site.

@Bosstone100: That is a nice find! I also went to Wally-world, looking for the Quinjet. Well, I found it for $54...I'd have loved to have found a couple police stations @ $15, though!!

Last month was good to me: Quinjet, $54...Vampyre Castle, $70...Prince of Persia, Ostrich Race, $12 (got two of these for minfig customizing!!), PotC, London Escape and the Cannibal set, %50 off at Barnes and Noble.

There were more, like a couple of the smaller super hero sets, but above were the highlights of my post-holiday sale finds.

    Happy hunting, everyone!

We hit a grocery store a few towns over yesterday and I was amazed to see some older sets like Space Police still on the shelves. We got everything in the photo for 40%-50% off.

My name is some iteration of Peter Peterson (not the real name, but I think you get the gist?)...some other nicknames have included Pete Squared and Idiot, although the latter seems to only have caught on with my wife.

    Thanks for the welcome!

How about a "one that got away" story. I found a Craigslist posting today that said "Vaders Tie Fighter"- $20.00. Expecting a 8017, the picture showed a 10175! I sent a massage offering $50 plus shipping and Paypal fees and this is the responce I got back :

"Aw man if I had seen this first, I'd have totally sent it to ya! I had it posted for $40 for a while, but just ended up selling it for $10 around 12:30 >.< Sorry!"

    .......crap......

Disclaimer: Not sure of condition or box/instructions but it sure was worth $10.00!

$30 over his asking price, plus paying for shipping, PayPal fees... AND giving him a free massage?

I got a bricklink order last month from a first time seller who had very cheap parts. Way too many to mention, but for example ...

    Vampyre's coffin lid (10304pb01) 50p
    Masonry profile 2x1 bricks 5p
LBG cage / barred door 5p
    Greatsword 10p
Pearl Gold 1x1 plates (like coins) 12 for 9p
    Electric zig-zag 20p each
    Various coloured jewels 1.5p-2p.

The whole order went to hundreds of parts. Each line was individually bagged too!

I've been checking his prices ever since, but they have now gone up to 2x average costs for most parts.

Picked up about 40lbs of bulk LEGO the other day for $175.

After I picked out the #10001 Metroliner and the #4561 / random train pieces i'll use for train MOCS. I sold the rest of the lot for $175.

Bit of work but happy to finally have a Metroliner!

An good catch from Dutch Marktplaats today, one of those hard to find sets. Delivered at home today for only € 41.75 : 8813-1: Battle at the Pass. It took some patience but Knights' Kingdom II is complete now, not counting the "Bionicle Knights' which I don want anyway.

Finally something to brag :) bought a "used" copy of the Instructions for Cafe corner for 35€ off a Germany Lego-forum, in the end the guy brought it to me personally and guess what? He even handed me out the Original Box too for free!!! Ok the Box has tears on the opening Flaps but otherwise it´s in Perfect Condition (almost no shelf-wear)! Ah yeah and the Instructions also look pretty flawless!
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
^I was about to say "That's crazy, surely you can get them cheaper on bricklink..." but then checked bricklink, and THAT is crazy, that just the printed instructions cost so much!

I take back any negative thing I've ever said about TRU. I just found two 10212 Imperial Shuttle's for 25% off!

The best lot I ever found was early last year on Craigslist. It was $600 for about 100 lbs, but I got it home and sorted everything and ended up with a 100% complete (with figs) Cloud City, Sail Barge, 6211, Arkham Asylum, MTT 7662, and about 20 other complete sets. After all that there was still about 150-200 figures and 60-70 lbs of random parts I didn't want to sort into sets.

Also 2 weeks after that I found a Grand Carousel complete with booklets and the cloth pieces still in the bags for $250.

I picked up a lot of about 300 loose Samsonite era bricks for $10 plus shipping. There was some paper work with the lot, but I didn't think any thing of it. After I look through the bricks I took a look at the paper. Turns out it's the instructions for the Quaker Puppet set.

The instructions are heavily used. The special office has been clipped, there some writing on the front and they are nearly split down one of the folds. But given how rare this set this is these instruction are worth more the $10 I paid for them.

There's nearly enough parts to built the set. I think I've got enough Samsonite spares to complete it. I'll have to double check the types, but most are pretty common and simple to find. The string will be a problem. It's not well documented and pretty unknown.

the one that I regretted I did not go thru with my purchased were for Eiffel Tower thru eBay for AU$400. after my purchased, the seller informed me that he quoted incorrect shipping cost. if i go ahead with it...I need to add $70 shipping to Australia. the shipping is a quite steep...so it got mutual cancellation. how i am regretting it until now. but got good compensation when Taj Mahal were going out of production...i got it a scoop for AU$200 thru ebay...YAY!
  • b3b3kb3b3k Member Posts: 12
oh yeah around that time Taj Mahal in Australia cost around AU$499.99. Such a ridiculous price.

    Finally got a real bargain.

Browsing eBay I see a princess Leia fig, no big deal. Not the best picture but I click on it to have a closer look.

Its the smooth hair version! Got it for the absolute Bargain price of £11. So yeah, my first brag!

So not that great of a Brag, but I was at a Target (In Australia) today and they had a #7208 left on the shelf, (the old fire station). I ended up paying $70 for it which is pretty decent, now that it is almost impossible to find in stores and that they are selling for around $110-$130 online.

Not a bargain, but I found 7 series 4 CMF packets on a shelf in my local newsagent. I missed these the first time round, so had to look twice when I saw the orange packs. Hoped for a monster, got 3!

Not a find as such... but just good luck lol.

Friend of a friend is moving house, has taken most of his smaller lego sets with him, but had nowhere to display his #10030 ... he knew i collected lego so asked if i wanted it.

    i said how much.
    he said $0

tried to ensure he knew its value, but wanted me to have it!

picked it up Yesterday, and wow... one of those sets i hadn't appreciated the scale of.

I nearly soiled myself with excitment when I saw this in a box of lego that my good lady wife brough home from the charity shop the other day, unfortunatly my excitment was short lived as I found that there was not a Santa Fe carrage,
#10022-1, inside but a load of Lego plates from one of the football sets. I did manage to find about 70+ pieces from the set mixed in with the other bricks including the 4 white Panel 1 x 2 x 3 - Hollow Studs, the rare "Cafe Corner" one's. (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2362b).
The box isn't in such a bad shape, with a little bit of TLC it could be repaired.
I don't have any interest in this Lego line so I am going to put it on the marketplace for a trade, it will be of use to someone.....
Now where are me clean pants ?.........

Finally a cool brag. I was given (I gave the guy $10) a garbage bag full of pieces. He said they were just basic blocks and such from tubs of sets from few years ago. You know, basic 2x2, 2x4's and such. He knew they were pretty worth less so he didn't even want the $10. Going thru it, i was pulling out those boxy 2x4x3 window frames, #4132. So I have this stack of white ones. Looked up price...$15 a piece! I'm like what the heck?? Find out they were basically in tubs and CAFE CORNER!! Nice, I have not one or 2 but 35 of them!! Looks like I will be hoarding something for once!

When I was looking for #9494 in the recent Tesco sale, which I failed to find BTW and had to buy a few others instead ( #9497 #9463 #6866 #6867 #9448 ). I discovered a couple of battered boxes stuffed behind or alongside sale sets.

I picked up a #8092 for £10.80 and #8058 for £4.50. Boxes were dented/creased with small holes and the ends of said creases and very, very dusty. #8092 was complete without broken parts but I have yet to open the Guardian as its floating around in the car somewhere in hiding... from SWMBO following my amazon Malevolence purchase!

Not sure how bragtastic this find is since I'm still sorting it. On Craigslist, I was able to snare for $380 the following sets w/ instructions:

    7898 Cargo Train Deluxe
    7948 Outpost Attack
    2520 Ninja Battle Arena
    7944 Fire Hovercraft
    7743 Police Command Center
    6745 Propeller Power
    5985 Space Police Control
    8097 Slave 1
    5974 Galactic Enforcer
    7671 AT-AP Walker
    10178 Motorized AT-AT
    7754 Home One Calimari
    10216 Winter Village
    7679 Republic Fighter Tank
    7894 Airport
    7676 Republic Attack Gunship
    8098 Clone Turbo Tank
    7660 Naboo N1/Vulture Droid
    7573 Battle at Alamut
    8060 Typhoon Turbo Sub
    7327 Scorpion Pyramid
    7628 Peril in Peru
    7627 Temple of Crystal Skull
    8964 Titanium Command Ring
    7752 Count Dooku Solar Sailor
    8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ

Still going through the two 30-lb bags and 90% of the minifigs are intact. There seems to be additional loose minifigs (or additional sets) but still sorting. Hopefully most are complete.

I took a shot on the deal when I was sent a pic of the instructions. Admittedly, the AT-AT intrigued me. I have the battery and motor assembly but not sure if it still works.
