EXPIRED: [US] KMart 50% off all clearance toys

achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
edited August 2011 in Shopping USA/Canada
The bi-annual sale is now in effect. I was able to score some sweet deals on some Toy Story sets I was missing and they had the Hero Factory Drop Ship as well as a small Racers set that I wasn't interested in.

If anyone finds a Construct-A-Buzz or Zurg that they want to trade for Lotso's Dump Truck or Buzz's Star Command Spaceship PLEASE let me know!

I assume you're in the U.S. since you.re at Kmart. The Buzz and Zurg are at SaH for 19.99.

Plus s&h though... Which brings them back up to retail. Thanks though! And yes, I'm in Portland, OR for any possible traders out there.

If you go to the Lego store there in Tigard and order them through them shipping is free. Right now you can also get free ship and free target practice with $75 purchase and use your Lego points to make it even cheaper. That's what we did yesterday in Denver.

In St. Louis I found a Hogwart's Express and a Burrow and a Wampa Cave on Clearance with the 50% off at Kmart. That was about $30 for the Express and $20 for the Burrow and $16 for the Wampa Cave (over 60% off!). They had a spot for Hagrid's Hut (which would have been less than $10) but it was already out.
But another Kmart just had an old Bionicle and a Hero Factory guy on clearance, but HP and SW were at full price. So it greatly depends on what inventory markers they have. Get shopping!

If you see any more Harry Potter sets, Paypal is waiting! I would love a Hagrid's Hut for <$10 (+UK shipping)

So glad I saw this, found Hogwart's Express and Wampa Cave.
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 369
Among the 4 stores I went to yesterday, only 1 had the Burrows (at full price), and none had the Hut. I was able to get a couple of Wampa caves for $17 each, and 4 of the rebel Hoth troop packs for $5 each. Looks like I missed the Potter sets, unless they start marking down Quiditch.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
I stopped by my local Kmart in Sacramento and only found:
8084 Snowtrooper Battlepack @ $4.50 (bought all of them)
    3178 Seaplane @ $4.50

There were none of the mentioned Harry Potter or Toy Story sets (the Toy Story ones have been marked down for months and are all gone now). Hoth Wampa Cave and Rebel Trooper Battle Pack were in stock but regular price.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
I saw some Buzz Spaceships for $13.50, Prison Tower Rescue for $21.00, and some Rebel Trooper Battle Packs for $5.00.
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
@sonsofsceva - which ones did you hit? I found the Wampa cave and sea plane at the Kmart on Lemay Ferry. All the HP was sold out. Also struck out at the ones in Florisant and on St. Charles Rock Road. I did find some World Races (the boats and racecars) at the Manchester one.
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
I'm in the St. Louis area. I hit 5 today and here was my score:

8897 - World Racers Jagged Jaw Reef @7.00 (bought two, left 5)
8898 - World Racers Wreckage Road @ 9.50 (bought the Two I found)
    8089 - Hoth Wampa Cave @ 15.00 (bought the two I found)
    3178 - Sea Plane @ 5.50 (bought 5 left aver a dozen)

Many of the stores has places for Hogwarts Express and the Burrow, but were sold out, others had them at full price. Saw no tower rescues on clearance also saw some Wampa Caves at full price.

Does anyone know whether other sets will be added to the clearance if they are not already listed in certain stores? I found two stores within 10 miles of each other, one had the Hogwarts Express sols out at $30 and the other had it at full price. Just wondering if I should check back. Anyone know?

^ @wagnerml2: Another St. Louisan! I am a brand-new AFOL from my dark ages. Can you tell me where you found the Sea Plane? I missed that one. Florissant? Or on the "other side of the river" in Belleville or Edwardsville?

Sea Plane was at the Kmart in Fairview Heights, IL. It was not in the lego section, it was stuck at the end of an aisle, not in the "clearance" section, but not in the "Lego" section. I am actually in Belleville, but no one (other than you) on the board propbably know where that is! Glad you are out of the dark ages! I'll PM you and give you some more info.

Which store did you find your HP at? Were there any left?
  • sonsofscevasonsofsceva Member Posts: 542
^ In South County, we left a couple of each but they were gone when I went back later for the Wampa Cave. :P
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
Another location had a whole bunch of 3178 Seaplanes for $4.50, but the Harry Potter stuff was all regular price.

    TARGET CLEARANCE

All PoTC, Atlantis, and much of City, TS, SW, sets are 30% off.

For those in the Atlanta area, the Kmart on Cleveland Ave SW has a bunch of sets on sale but many are not in the clearance section or marked as on sale (I used the scanner to check which ones were on sale). My haul included:

7279 Police minifig collection @ $3.50 (bought one, didn't find any others)
3181 Passenger plane @ $15.00 (bought one, three left)
7307 Flying mummy attack @ $7.50 (bought one, 2-3 left)
2260 Ice dragon attack @ $7.50 (bought one, 2-3 left)
7913 Clone trooper BP @ $4.50 (bought two, 2-3 left)
7914 Mandalorian BP @ $4.50 (bought one, 8 or so left)

Also on sale but I didn't purchase any:
    3179 Sea plane @ $4.50, 10+ left
    8076 Sea bed striker @ $7.50 I think, 15+ left
    7978 Angler attack @ $7.50, 8-10 left
    4736 Freeing Dobby @ $4.50, 15+ left
    4191 Captain's cabin @ 4.40, 2-3 left

No Wampa cave or Tower Rescue (this was the set I was hoping to find). Happy hunting.

Might have to go back to Kmart and scan every set to see if more are on sale. I too found sets that weren't marked down physically but that scanned on clearance but I didn't check every set. Will probably return the Lotso's Dump Trucks I bought for $7.50 because there isn't much in this set that I want.

Could you/anyone pick me up as many of 4736 Freeing Dobby as possible at the sale price? I would be hugely grateful. Thanks
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 369
Just stopped in to a K-Mart on lunch break, and the only thing from that list that actually was on clearance was the passenger plane for $30. The 50% off sale ended on 7/9, but the store still had signs all over the toy section and even on the front door, so I got it for $15 as another clerk started taking the signs down.
Good luck to everyone on getting the 50% discount on whatever's left.

my kmart had nothing in oregon
  • malachirobertsonmalachirobertson Member Posts: 268
So was this a clearance sale for a particular period of time? How do we find out when another one will happen?
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
That makes no sense. You have a clearance sale until things are cleared out or you remove them. Either way, good pick up on the passenger plane!
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
^ The sets are still priced with clearance prices. The additional 50% off clearance price sale is what has ended.
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
This sale is the only thing that gets me in to KMart anyway. Now that it is over I don't have to go to that depressing store until the next sale on clearance toys!
  • allendeanallendean Member Posts: 32
Does anyone know if every Kmart had that sale? The one I frequent did not seem to have the additional 50% off.
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
I traveled throughout my region to several Kmarts and they all had the sale going on.

I cleaned out the Buford Highway K-Mart :-)
That was ghetto enough for me, I can't image what the Cleveland Ave store was like, LOL That has to be plain scary down there.

Do you think Cleveland Ave still has those sets?
I wonder if I wake up early enough on Saturday the ghetto won't be there yet.

    Thanks!

The 50% off sale is long over, gtg905s, so you can leave your bulletproof jacket in the closet.

The sale isn't over at least here in Atlanta :-)
and I should probably buy a bulletproof jacket for the next trip, lol

    Just bought this afternoon:

    3181: $15
    7593: $16
    4736: $4.50 Qty.6
    7977: $3.50
    7978: $7.5
    4191: $4.50

They had over 12 of the 8076 on clearance too (maybe double clearance), also 8077
plus a bunch of city sets.
Sorry didn't price check all of them, lets just say they were not the most helpful people there and were not happy either I was price checking everything lol
Well all of the above sets were in the "regular" priced aisle and there were only two sets in the clearance asile including 8076.

Weird though, their Pharaoh's Quest Sets and one SW set wasn't on sale though, oh well. I will enjoy those.
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
^ Nice Haul! The 50% off only lasted a week up here in Oregon and the selection sucked compared to what you found.
  • sonsofscevasonsofsceva Member Posts: 542
The local STL Kmart had the Rebel and Imperial Hoth battle packs for 9 bucks, even though the shelf said 12. No extra 1/2 off, and nothing like Atlanta, but still 25% off.
  • RobbRobb Member Posts: 144
Here in Virginia, there is no sale marked in the stores, nor on the shelves or even on the products/price tags.

However, based on this thread, I went into my local K-mart and started pulling interesting boxes from the shelves and running them under a price scanner. I found that many of the sets that have been listed in this thread were coming up as deeply discounted.

I didn't have much time, since I was on my way between two work meetings, but I grabbed two fantastic sets:

Hogwarts Express at 30 USD, and
    The Burrow at 22.50 USD.

I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan, but these sets will provide great bricks and vehicles for town building. If I get a chance, I'll head back tomorrow.

So, even if your store isn't advertising the sale on clearance items, try running sets under the scanner and see what the prices comes up as.

I thought the discount had passed, but it actually started this week, I guess. Has anyone else seen Greivous Starship #8095 on sale in the extra 50% clearance at KMart? My KMart had them at $18.50. It is not my favorite ship, but I bought one anyway. Not sure whether to keep it or not. What I was really happy about was the Wampa Cave for $17. It was $34 last week. Also, I echo the advice of running things under the scanner. None of these items was in the clearance aisle, and they did not have clearance stickers on them.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
I had the same luck as most everyone, everything I found on sale was not marked. Still looking for the Hogwarts Express and the Burrow, I would be willing to trade someone if they are interested, just let me know what you want!

If any of you can pick up spares, I'm still looking for Freeing Dobby sets for under $6, and Hogwarts Express sets for less that $40.
    Thanks

    How about Dobby? ;-)
I need lots of these figures, but the UK price is too high for just a figure...
  • sonsofscevasonsofsceva Member Posts: 542
In St Louis, at least, the 50% off clearance was gone for a month, but I went there today and it is back. Some have nothing of LEGO on clearance. One had lots, even the Ramses' Pyramid Game for $11.
I will check for Dobby sets for Matthew, but I am not sure how much savings can be garnered with int'l shipping to the UK...

Hit up the Beaverton, OR store this morning and they were also having the 50% off sale again. There was new stuff on clearance that wasn't on clearance the first time around. I snagged 2 Hogwarts Express' and 3 Burrows, for $30/ea and $22.50/ea respectively and left behind 3 Prison Tower Rescues @ $18.50/ea as well as a couple General Grevious' Starfighters.

Freeing Dobby and the SW battle packs were all ringing up full price (as was everything else... I had a field day with their price scanner.)

If anyone finds an extra Apple Tree House I'd love to have one (I'm in Oregon.)
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
i'll swing by Tualatin, OR in about an hour and let you know what I find. what's your price point on that achilles? if i can grab a hogwarts or burrows at those prices, i'll be pretty happy. were there anymore in beaverton?

Someone on ToysNBricks saw the Apple Tree House for $17, which is what I'd hope to find it for. And no, I cleaned out the Hogwarts and Burrow sets from the Beaverton store. Let me know if you're interested in a Burrow - I think I have one more than I know what I'm going to do with and it might just get returned.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
no luck. pretty much all clearance stuff was picked clean. hogwarts express would have been $30 if they still had any
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 369
Around central VA, all the HP stuff on clearance is long gone. I picked up a couple of the Prison Tower Rescue sets for $18.50, a couple Oupost Attacks for $7.50, and a few Prison Carriage Rescue sets for $3.50. Oh, and another Wampa set for $15. I don't collect Star Wars, but another Yeti to guard the frozen temple is always welcome.

Most of what I'm seeing left are the Atlantis sea scorpion thing, city sea plane, the TS3 dump truck, and the odd SW Hoth troop builder set. I'll be glad when Target finishes getting rid of all their clearance product also, cause the temptation to buy is just too great!
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
Milwaukie, OR store also picked clean aside from some Bionicle crap.
  • achillespdxachillespdx Member Posts: 106
NE Portland, OR now picked clean too. I snagged the only two Lego sets left that weren't marked as clearance. A Hoth Wampa Cave and a Snow Trooper Battle Pack. Everything else was full price or MIA.
