Looking to get started with a Lego Train set up and these items are what I'd like to start with.

#7936 Level Crossing
#7499 Tracks

They are all still available on shop at home or amazon (except 7936) ...I would start there...

That would be my suggestion too except for #7936 Level Crossing which has been EoL for a while now.

Wow, that is crazy. Not a rare part in that set either (except the stickers). Part out value on Bricklink is US$32.
