Can anyone give a guess on which set this Iron Man is in? http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-marvel-super-heroes-iron-man-2013-minifigure-leaked/

^ Awesome find I have been scouring for such a picture since toy fair. Its the heartbreaker suit, I believe. Its not Mk 47 I know that much anyway.

@Diggydoes- I think you mean bobble head :-)

LEGO is doing a good job at making all the different variations of ironman into practically its own independent line of collecting, aside from the theme itself. Looking forward to the release of all these variations.

Are we getting a different Mark XLII (42) and a mark XLVII (47)? Or are the numerals and numbers just getting mixed up?
  • GeddesGeddes Member Posts: 574
I believe its meant to be XLVII (47) numbers are getting muddled.

Iron Man jumps from 7 to 47.

You know what's really funny? We even know that the new iron-man set will be out around april but over here in Germany the current super heroes line is not even out yet! I don't know why they release those sets so freaking late over here?!?

On the 76007 Set Is that a female face on the Ironman suit?

^ Rumor is that pepper gets a suit of armor in the new movie...this might be proof of said rumor.
  • andheandhe UKMember Posts: 3,460
I was kind of looking forward to the Mandarin figure (and Sir Ben Kingsley entering the two character club) but his figure looks nothing like the trailer. Think I'll be giving these a miss.

^^ Well, isn't that Tony Stark falling, in the dark outfit, just below Ironman? Which would suggest that it's not him in the suit.
  • AmikoAmiko Member Posts: 97
Lovely pics. Thanks for posting. I think I'll be getting all of these. The Mandarin does look a little bit like the lovechild of Father Christmas and Rasputin but I expect that I'll fall in love with it once I have one!
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,407
Not really a spoiler alert but if the rumour that the film is based on the extremus storyline then that is possibly Pepper in the suit, don't want to say more but it is all part of the Invincible Ironman comic run by Matt Fraction and Salvador Laroca, cracking read.
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,407
Oh and on the lego front I will be buying all of these day 1 :)

I wish TLG would give us more scenery and think about what makes super heros cool (costumes, powers, secret lairs and crazy vehicles). I don't want a third helicopter from the super hero lines and I def don't don't want another lame trike, ala Doc Ock. That boat is 'meh', too. The only thing that looks remotely cool, from a build perspective, is the wall of the mansion we get. I'm a fanboy of super heros, Marvel and LEGO, so I'll be buying them, at least for the minifigs...but I'm soooo not chuffed by these images. :((((

    Sorry to twice, in succession...

I don't even like The Lone Ranger, as a concept, but check out what that line is getting from LEGO, if you want to see how good a movie license can be in brick-form.

Totally agree. The Hobbit An Unexpected Gathering set is one of the best sets I've seen to date. Great build, one big piece, easily can be showcased, and represents the movie/book very well.

I get that there will be vehicles from the movie, but if you want to showcase a nice set, it's definitely not going to be that boat or copter. Would have been nice if they spent more time on the mansion. They had a good idea going there.

    This is minimum effort.
Why is Batman the only super heroes line to get proper sets? Honorable mention to The Daily Bugle.
  • GeddesGeddes Member Posts: 574
I think its only a matter of time before marvel have there equivolent of arkham asylum breakout set. I had hoped it would be linked to a film (iron man3/ avengers) but its more likely to come from ultimate spiderman/ xmen
  • BumblepantsBumblepants DFWMember Posts: 6,978
^^ Batman is getting great sets because Lego does not have their hands tied by the contents of the films. Lego is stuck designing what is in the movies and hitting the right price points to sell lots of these to kids. I really wonder what they will do for Thor 2. Could be really awesome or really terrible, really just depends on how well the action pieces of the film translate to bricks.

^ couldnt't agree more. Look at batmans weakest set (imo) this year. Tied to dark knight rises.

Agree completely with the 7 comments up. Bottom line is disappointment , particularly the incomplete mansion and the bricks lost to that chopper

What's worse, I know ill still have to buy this . They just know us so well (TLG :)

Xavier's school for the Gifted? Please TLG? :-)

On topic, I'm always looking for more buildings than vehicles. I like the "mansion" and will expand it. The rest I'll pick up on discount for the minifigs.
  • AmikoAmiko Member Posts: 97
Interesting outlook LostInTranslation... I suppose these sets have enough elements in to provide a good start for MOC designers. It would be great to see this expanded but they're still at a reasonable price point for the kids...

The Malibu Mansion would sit nicely on the side of Jabbas palace, a sort of sun lounge. :-)

As with the Jabba's Palace/Rancor Pit sets, why can't they put together more sets that link so that bigger dioramas can be built? A second Malibu Mansion set to extend the scene would be much better than some of the vehicles we get.
  • dougtsdougts Oregon, USAMember Posts: 4,129
I read a lot of unrealistic comments here. We all need to take a step back and remember that these aren't aimed at AFOL's - they are targeted for kids. A full mansion set was a ridiculous expectation - they need to hit an attractive price point that will have these things flying off the shelves, not be some $100+ set. Adding a bunch of extra pieces to make a complete "mansion" would not have added anything to the set that most of the target audience would even care about. The kids want the figures, the vehicles, and the play features. Anything extra is just adding cost and reducing the number of these that LEGO can sell.

So why did they give us Arkham Asylum, Batcave, Jabba's Palace, etc?

I see those as highly popular iconic settings that invite play. A huge playboy-style mansion with an underground garage seems to fall a bit short of the other sets you mentioned. In some respects, it almost seems like something you'd find in the Friend's line. Malibu Mansion and all. Palm Trees, martini bar, chase lounges...

Aside from 'damage' features and a secret door / wall or two, (Classic Car[s]?)I'm not sure what a $100 set would provide. :-S

I'm in agreement with @dougts, here. In some respects, maybe it's why I was never a a big Iron Man fan. I've always loved the top secret headquarters, underground lairs, and technological gadgets - Iron Man always just seemed like a spoiled rich guy in a cool suit. Take away the suit and...meh, I've lost interest already, lol.

    ;-)

The first is a flagship exclusive set. If and when they do one for marvel it isn't going to be a house - it's going to be something they can dress up with a ton Of play features

The other two are both 'big' sets in a wave where the extra minifigures will drive sales and the extra bricks add functional value. Not every set can be big. None of the three iron man sets make sense at a big price point

Adding more walls to the Malibu mansion isn't adding any value. Why would they double the price point for little to no extra kid appeal ?

It's been clear from the start that the superheroes theme is trying to push minifigures and play value at attractive price points that they can sell tons of. These sets, while disappointing perhaps to afols, are clearly right in LEGOs target range for this lineup.

Maybe it was completely naive but when i first heard that TLC has both Marvel/DC licenses i thought of those classical comic-style-like vehicles/minifigures (kind of like the "Funhouse"is)! Almost all those movie tie-ins are kinda boring to me,these colourful "old-school styled"figures/vehicles/settings seemed to suit Lego better than those rather dark movies do!
But i understand from a financial POV that it makes of course sense to make mostly movie-based sets!

These sets are bad! I might as well buy the figures on their own
  • dougtsdougts Oregon, USAMember Posts: 4,129
This is why we get bad sets. Too many people only care about the minifigures
