Sorry for the delay folks. I guess the box is waiting for me. I'm on my honeymoon through Sunday and will get this right out on Monday/Tuesday. I'll try to make my contribution worth it!!
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
Ummm, ya I vote you focus on the Honeymoon... What the hell are you doing posting (or surfing for that matter) while on this wonderful adventure? :) Have fun!!

Tend to agree with @Chooch :)
  • allmybricksallmybricks Member Posts: 156
Again - apologies for the delay while I honeymooned :-) Took a couple of days to then get my mail too... :-/

I've got everything swapped out and after a random drawing the remaining names - the box is heading to @murphquake

Dropping it off at USPS Friday 11/9 morning. I'll get my pictures uploaded over the weekend too.

Just an update, I got the box, a huge thanks to my homey @Chooch for the minifig with the Yellow Hips, completed my 17th monochrome minifigure with them! I also got my order from the FBTB.net draft 7, will take a few days to go through it all, work all day tomorrow and sunday, busy saturday, so i'll probably pick a name and send it off Monday.

@murphquake - Didn't realize the hips were anything special... Do tell about the monochrome figures you are making and what you are doing with them...??
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
Oh, and you are welcome :)

@Chooch, 5 mins ago, I was dumping them all in a small PAB cup =-)

They aren't that rare, I had dozens of pairs as a kid! But it seems around 1999 Lego stopped making yellow hips, ostensibly to keep people from making "naked" minifigs. The only time this millennium they've been out was in the 2009 version of the Vintage Minifigure Sets when they had the yellow classic spaceman. I didn't even realize I didn't have yellow hips until last week when I started brassoing a bunch of minifig parts I'd been collecting for this purpose.

Right now I have 17 completely done, waiting on an old brown head and orange hands to complete those figures, don't have either started in old grey (dark or light, though I have a few bits, hips or legs maybe, from some SW figs I got on Ebay)... Blue Medium Blue are sorta done, the heads I have on both are from uncommon/valuable SW figs so they aren't getting brassoed, but I realized that the new Ninjago NRG Jay fig has a Blue head so i'll be picking up that spinner pack, plus a friend says he has a CMF S1 Super Wrestler head for the Medium Blue one, then all that will be left is chrome gold... the chrome gold keychain minifig can be had for 10-15 beans, but the hands will run me double that right now, only on the gold chrome C3PO... I'll probably end up doing it but, not right now... after that there's none left that can be finished unless Lego releases new parts or BL turns up something that wasn't cataloged or I missed.

This was a good year for monochrome minifigs, Dark Tan, Lime Green, & Olive Green all became possible (Olive didn't even exist last year =-) A few other colors are very close, usually just need hands or heads and the colors are still active, so i'm keeping a close eye on 2013 images.

Here's the pic I posted the other day. Didn't realize but I didn't put Pearl Gold on there, and you can see Yellow had no hips. The head of Blue & the torso and head of Medium Blue are actually just reversed, but I got a medium blue torso to de-ink yesterday, city advent calendar on sale at target had a bunch of parts I needed

Okay - I see what you are doing. Like the all black angels on the gate of the new Arkham set. Cool. Maybe the Chima line will help with some of those missing colors. Thanx for the picture and the info.
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
@Chooch, black was easy... even easier was white... Monster Fighters Ghost body with white head from Friends Advent Calendar.... and the Ghost's black head went on a black body to finish that one. After that most required Brasso.

made a bit of progress since last week:

Pretty cool looking. Never thought about doing anything like that. Also just wanted to let everyone know that I am back home after a lengthy time away. Been looking at the box and some fun things in and out of it. Can't wait for it to come down to FL...
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
@USMCYodz Glad you are safely back and catching up. The box happens to be on your Coast so maybe you will get lucky :)
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
Thta is awesome looking @murphquake :)
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
Thanks @jadedanc got a CMF S1 Super Wrestler head yesterday from one of the always amazing Queens, NYC Lego Store staff, need to brasso it and complete Mr. Medium Blue... should be getting old light grey in the mail in a few days too. I need to go through the rest of the box, got some good stuff to put in, just need to decide what I wanna take out (aside from those hips =-) and pick a random person to send it off to.

Yeah, please. I feel like I originally sent Box 2 out months ago and haven't received it yet but it is now in Seattle with jadedanc.

In the future the order should be predetermined and adhered to opposed to this random round we have going on with Box 3.

In the spirit of a classic TV show from the 60's "Car 54, Where are You?"
Jambalaya Box 3 Where are you?
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
Actually the problem here is that @murphquake is a jerk and the box has been sitting on top of his fridge since he took those yellow hips out... Working til midnight tonight but have to go to the post office tomorrow anyway, will pick a person and send it on its way. The good news is I have picked up some fun stuff the last few weeks and I should be able to add a bunch of good pieces.

YAY - I know we are all excited...It could be a mini christmas for someone
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
I am sorry @bmwlego. I thought the randomness would make it more fun. But we can always live and learn, right? :) I will be mailing box #2 to @littletoki on Monday. I fell yet again cause of my left knee giving out (one doc says I have a tore MCL and the other says I have a strained MCL) Well, I fell today on my way downstairs to my truck. I now have no skin on my bad left knee. :( Came back upstairs and took some pain meds to help with the pain. Hasn't kicked in yet but I hope it will soon...

No problem @jadedanc...the randomness of the jambalaya is a good idea but it seems like becuase no one knows where it is going next that it is taking longer.

    FEEL BETTER!!!

Any word on location of #3??
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
(shhhh its still on top of my fridge... busy month ugh... back to work in an hour, again)

So here's the deal. I took 2 fully numbered lego dice. I took down all the numbers left in the jambalaya except @jadedanc who will get it last. There were 11 people left (I'm starting from 2 because you can't roll "1" with 2 dice =-)

    2 @jadeirene
    3 @MontyKensicle
    4 @SirBen
    5 @andyscouse
    6 @brickriver
    7 @USMCYodz
    8 @CurvedRoadPlate
    9 @jvdrummer182
    10 @Brickdancer
    11 @bmwlego

I rolled a pair of threes.... the box will be sent monday to @brickriver

This message brought to you by the quesadilla i just had for breakfast... no, no, it's ok, i made it with bacon, so it's breakfast food!

    A 2 is a 1 in 36 chance and 7 is a 1 in 6 chance. In case anyone was wondering.

How does one get on the list to contribute to this box?
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302

I messaged and emailed her and have not received anything back.

@dneul The easiest way is wait for the next box to start IF/when we start another one :)

Seeing as I started Box 3 and it went to several others before its progress was stalled I'd request to be the first recipient of the next box and then those who did not receive Box 3 would get it afterwards.

I think the next box (if there is 1) should be sent out in an order that everyone in the group knows and is aware of as well.

I would be interested in participating in the next round. Maybe @legobrandonCP and I could go back to back since we're both in Canada. If he's interested.
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 820

  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
It's no prob @brickriver :) Just trying to track where it went.

@Murphquake did you use delivery confirmation on the box?

Man, I didn't realize I started this box back in August LOL.
L-O-N-G time to wait for LEGOs to return :)

    ~Michelle

Looks like the box may be in LEGO heaven or hopefully it ended up with some child who needed it more than us :)
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
Hi guys, saw all this late last night and wondered myself. Looked around for the delivery confirmation tag and couldn't find it, started wondering....about 20 minutes later I had a dim lightbulb appear over my head and called my friend up. Mystery solved. The box is apparently in the back of his car since a couple weeks back. I'm going to get it back from him today. Totally my fault, I took it with us to do some stuff and never made it to the post office, forgot the box and asked him to do it for me as I was going to work, never followed up. Hopefully I can see him early enough to do it today. The box is fine, just ignored. I'll post back later when I have more news.

  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 820

  • jadeirenejadeirene Member Posts: 474
So is this box still MIA?
  • brickriverbrickriver Member Posts: 27
I am certain the box is still with murphquake. I have not received it yet.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
I have sent another message to @murphquake to see if he still has this. If anyone knows him personally, would someone mind trying to call him? Three months with one person is not acceptable...
