Which sets contained Chrome Darth Vader?

I am curious if there is a specific list of the sets sold in the USA that could have contained the Chrome Darth Vader back in 2009. Was the distribution limited to the smaller sets or does anyone have personal experience finding them in the larger SW sets? I did a Google search and couldn't find much other than they were randomly added to 2009 SW sets. Does anyone have more detailed information they can share on their personal experience with this particular promotion?

I apologize if there's already a thread on this out there...I looked and couldn't find one. Feel free to move if there's a better location for this thread.

I don't know for myself, though I'm sure someone has the answers, but in the meantime have you searched/asked at fbtb.com (frombrickstobothans).

There's a lego starwars community there, who might be eager to impress with their sets knowledge.

Larger sets, not smaller sets, would seem more likely to have them though I can't say for certain that they were excluded from any sets.

Though I bought mine secondhand (but NIB), I can guarantee you that these were in plenty of the 2009 CW battlepacks. They also were said to appear in large numbers in the Vader's TIE Fighter. Beyond that, I am not sure.

Yes i'd heard (after the event) that '09 battlepacks were good hunting grounds, which is why they fetched high prices sealed (even though you can almost guarantee that there's no Chrome Vader in the aftermarket ones, as they will have been carefully weighed and probed already).

i got mine in an echo base (#7749) set. i thought it was anything with the little darth vader head in the seal on it in the corner had the chance of having one.

The reason I ask is that I have several unopened SW sets from 2009. I know some people were weighing the smaller sets to determine whether they contained a chrome DV...there are actually youtube videos out there showing a guy weighing sets in a Walmart (or maybe it was a Target) store.

Just trying to get a firm list of the sets with DV so I would know whether I wanted to check those particular sets...

I would look up the weights of your sets on bricklink and then weigh yours and see if there's any difference. The chances of bricklink listing the weight of sets with the darth vader are slim so I'd think that'd be a good way of going about it.

I searched and searched and finally found this list...

    7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid
    7749 Echo Base (Premiers 6/09)
    8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack
    8015 Assassin Droids Battle Pack
    8016 Hyena Droid Bomber
    8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter
    8018 Armored Assault Tank (AAT)
    8019 Republic Attack Shuttle
    8036 Separatists Shuttle
    8037 Anakin's Y-Wing Starfighter
    8038 The Battle of Endor
    8039 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser

    Statistics
Weight: 0.2 ounces (approximately 5.7 grams) with polyester bag.
Pieces: 7 (1 Head, 1 Helmet, 1 Torso, 1 Pair of Legs, 1 Cape, 1 Lightsaber Hilt, and 1 Translucent Lightsaber Blade).
    Retail Value: Approximately $70 - $120
    Odds: 1 to 300

Now to figure out how to find one without actually opening the box. Weighing works fine for smaller battlepack sets, but I think the larger sets will be much more difficult.

You could just look for 2009 Star Wars sets here at Bricklink. ;-)

if you're in the states, send it through the TSA slave scanners at the airport and ask to see the image.

^That's funny... but then they might want to frisk my MFs, and I think everyone would be embarrassed.

^Yes, nothing more embarrassing than frisky MFs, believe me....;-)
