    Greetings all, Just bought a used star wars set 8088, put it all together an this piece was in the bag an I have no clue where or what it goes too, I searched Bricklink, but a noob at all this so was hoping someone would have better look than I

    well that does explain why the rubber bands were wrapped around it when the set arrived!

    ^I've seen them used in builds/MOCs, but they are a rather odd shape for their primary purpose it seems.

    I just found these in a pile of Fisher-Price Construx. They have LEGO printed on the back but I can't find a number. Any ideas?

    Wow, I get to answer one! That's an X-Pod lid (see http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=4349-1 for the red version).

    People have made some cool MOCs using these parts, and the Hoth Rebel Base http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=7666 used them for the anti-personnel turret.

    Any idea if these two helmets are Lego or a competing brand. The one with the yellow spiral on top says "Pro Art Works" across the bill and "Shoei" on the side, the other has no wording. Looked on BL but did not find either. They came in a 40 lb lot of bulk that has some MB and some BTR mixed in.

    So I felt like rebuilding an old set in lego digital designer, got about half way through and I came to a piece that I couldn't find anywhere in the pallet. Looked for about an hour. So I decided to search the piece database for this piece. I looked at every single yellow and white piece known to lego history and I couldn't find this piece anywhere. Which was odd because from what I remember from my collection of legos this piece was quite common (having at least 4). Here is the piece in question:

    Has this piece like fell off of the face of the earth?! Please help!

    That was what I thought but many pieces I'd thought were not Lego turned out to be! Thanks for confirming.

    ^ Often times I find it helpful to look through the relevant category; for instance in this case, I just looked under the "plate, modified" section.

    The yellow pistons are 2851 Technic Piston Round.
    The cylinder (you must have one more somewhere) is 2850 Technic Engine Cylinder.
    The two small rods still connected inside the pistons, are: 2852 Technic Engine Connecting Rod.
    The yellow "pins" are part of a crankshaft, and called: 2853 Technic Engine Crankshaft.
    The red pin is a normal technic axle, 32062 Technic Axle 2 Notched.

    Oh, and I have a feeling they all must be from set #8291 - Dirt Bike.

    Several of these go to 6969: Celestial Stinger Space/Insectoids.

    The crazy rose/pink color is mostly found in the Life on Mars series.

    The top left printed piece is from 5958 Mummy's Tomb.

    The yellow one in the middle is found in several of the Alpha Team sets.

    Expanding on this, the name for that pinkish color, used by both Bricklink and The LEGO Group, is Sand Red. It had a very brief lifespan; Life on Mars was one of the only themes to use this color in sizable quantities.

    As a trivia point, the "tone family" (my term, not TLG's) that Sand Red fits into also includes Sand Blue, , and Sand Violet, three colors also used widely in Life on Mars, but also another color that people don't tend to associate with these: Sand Yellow, better known to the AFOL community as Dark Tan. There were also metallic equivalents of Sand Blue, Sand Violet, and Sand Yellow, all of which are now discontinued. Metallic Sand Yellow is called Flat Dark Gold by Bricklink. I have no knowledge of whether any sets actually used Metallic Sand Violet, but it is on LEGO color palettes from the early naughts.

    cool!!! thanks for the help and knowledge, I was able to identify both sets #7314 and #6969, but most of the wings are missing from that

    Yes, it is, I coded my post wrong. It was supposed to say "Sand Blue, Sand Green, and Sand Violet", linking to each-- instead I accidentally left out the text for "Sand Green" and linked a comma and the word "and" to the page for the color.

    It is a MOC - the tailwing doesn't seem to be a LEGO element, but something else (I can't quite see from the rather small picture). Are the wings made with two plates on top of each other? If so, that also signals MOC.
    And there is something weird going on with the front-wheels - even if the current cockpit is just some random brick, there wouldn't be room for a proper cockpit ... So all signs point to MOC.

    If I'm wrong, I'll eat a 2x4 plate :)

    I'm leaning towards "clone brand" rather than "MOC", since the tail, engines, and wheels seem to be non-LEGO elements. Can't find a picture of a set quite like this one through a Google search but as far as I can tell it is an American Airlines, not United Airlines, plane. Note the "AA" logo on the tail. Whether it was originally an American Airlines plane or is a generic or differently-branded plane someone customized is anyone's guess... it's not a very good photo.

    I guess I'm on a roll, so I'll ask this one. There's some sort of modified three-sided brick with post (?) as the base for this train. Any thoughts on what it's called and/or the number? I can't figure out how to find it out...

    Hey everyone,

    I'm back again and stuck on trying to find a particular part I have seen used in loads of mocs recently. After searching on bricklink under various categories I just can't seem to track it down.

    It can be seen in this moc here http://www.flickr.com/photos/buurli_burri/8524185884/sizes/o/in/photostream/ (not made by me) and are the two staffs with crystals held by the minifigures on the path.

    If someone with greater bricklink experience than me could track them down I'd be very grateful.

    Ah yes - that staff is not an official LEGO-element, but an extra produced by BrickForge: http://www.brickforge.com/store/product.php?productid=16369&cat=0&page=1 - It is quite cool, and suits Gandalf way better than the standard "stick" he has in the official sets.

    @sidersdd, yep, it's that one! I have a bunch of those in black so I'm very positive that's a match. BTW, even though they haven't been used in a recent set they are very cheap on Bricklink and the black ones are available in great quantities for less than 40 cents...(c;
