  Surprisingly enough, it actually IS LEGO - although many of us would like to forget about that shamefull time, when LEGO produced such characters.
  
  It is a pirate from the 4+ or 4juniors series, back in 2004 - see him on Bricklink here.
  
  Since you have him holding a sword and jug, I would guess that he is from set #7080.

  That would make sense. I stopped collecting Lego in the mid-90's so no idea how we ended up in one of the boxes in my loft. I swear some of these mini-figures have a mind of their own.

  ^^Your remark reminded me of the "Twilight Zone" episode of the doll that wouldn't go away and kept returning, no matter what the father did to it. The minifigs are possessed little people I tell ya..

  Hi all
  
  In IT in about 1995 we programmed using a Lego thing that plugged into a computer, and we programmed them to work. I recall a wheelchair, robot arm, conveyer belt. I recall they had little sensors that then turned motors.
  
  It was the only thing I excelled in during IT, the wheelchair had a joystick and was really clever.
  
  Couldn't find the set on the site, mainly as I didn't know it's name or year or anything

  ^The fellow and slope-brick on the left is probably from set #6609 - the other one is a spaceman from the early 1980'ies, but I don't think the blue arms were ever used in a set.   Thanks so much for the help guys. I really appreciate. i do remember getting the #6609 now that I see it. I still can't figure out how I got the space guy...especially if his arms are the wrong color. Must have picked it up from one of my cousins when we were little. They had all the space stuff...I don't think I did.

  Just opened 1 of 3 massive boxes of jumbled up Lego from when I was a kid, any idea what set this aircraft remnants are from? If so, I'll try and download the instructions and clean & rebuilt it...

  ^ The airplane is from set #6375. From your other pictures, the bricks look heavily yellowed and are worth more in sentimental value than on Ebay.

  ^^^ Minifigs that aren't from licensed sets, i.e. Star Wars or Harry Potter or such, are seldom worth much, but it looks like you have a bunch of pirate-figures there, and if you can find all the bricks, and build the complete sets, they might be worth something with the original minifigs!

  @smillatt The white slopes on the airplane are all yellowed for the most part and the island with the 2 soldiers has yellowed white bricks on it also. Yellowing of the bricks happens over time and is usually caused by direct sunlight as well as other causes. There is another thread here for turning the yellowed parts back to their original color. The minifigures look ok for the most part but the picture has a yellow tint to it so it is hard to tell if they are in good condition or not. I think the most valuable set you have is the 375 castle if it's complete and the 6080 castle also, that's one of my favorites.   This is 15 years ago, small sensors which could identify tilt and different colours, they were lego pieces which plugged into the computer. You'd be able to tilt a Lego joystick, built from pieces with sensors. Which would activate motors in the wheel chair. There was also a robot arm and conveyer belt, we got it to send bricks along until the sensor noted a yellow one and then a robot arm came and took it off.
  
  Mind storm looks like the modern equivalent though

  A couple of weeks ago my mate gave me some Lego Dacta which a local school was throwing out. (He rescued it from being put in the skip!) One of these sets was Dacta 1090 which dates from about 1995 or so. This has an optisensor and makes a washing machine, conveyor belt, robot arm ferris wheel and opening door. Sounds something like what you are describing.

  This was in some bulk Lego we bought yesterday. the piece has a Lego marking, and a part number (can see it, but not read it). It's made of a rubbery material rather than the standard brick material. Anyone know what it's from?

  There are a few variations of that part too in other sets where the rubber part is a different colour. It's used on the underside of UFO abduction so you can shove a minifig through them an it holds the minifig in place. Quite clever

  It's this piece, which debuted in the 2008 Exo-Force set 8114 Chameleon Hunter and also appeared in the Mars Mission set 7649 MT-201 Ultra Drill Walker. It also exists in a number of two-color blends.
  
  The reason for the rubber tip is for safety and stability reasons. Thin, pointy parts can not only be uncomfortable to step on, but can easily snap at the tip if molded in regular ABS.
