I have been to 6 different WM's and all but one had Dino sets. Only two had the HQ. All of the stores that had Dino had the T-rex and Triceratop sets for %50...I'm in New orleans...If I were you I would take my HQ back to Walmart with your receipt and have them scan it and see if they will give you the refund...couldn't hurt to try

WM doesn't do price adjustments. I found two QARs a week before christmas for $120 each. A few days later the price dropped to $79 in their system. I tried asking for an adjustment but they stood their ground. I simply returned them and went back the next morning to buy them at the new price.

Congrats to all of you!! My son only went to 1 Walmart. However...I know what fun the hunt is. It is very exciting when you go to several stores and find those great deals. Enjoy!!

I come from the world of collecting comic books. 99% of the fun is digging through rows of boxes filled with comics looking for that hidden gem. When I grew up in Cleveland we had a stretch of road in Parma with like 4 comic shops on it and we would do our weekly sunday crawl going through the same boxes we had for years...I loved it. Nothing like finding that one $50 book in the $1 box. Running around chasing the brick is pretty close. The hunt is half the fun.

That being said....i'm still surprised at the amount of lego still on the shelf. It helps when the deals arent published and signs hung in the isle. I have gone back to the same Walmart three times not wanting to wipe it out but the only items gone are what I had picked up previously....

I was debating whether going or not as I am afraid not finding anything. Turn out I made the right choice.

Why would your city need that many dump trucks and recycling centers???
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 820
The cabs for the orange dump trucks and the recycling center truck make for good cabs of other trucks with slight changes.

I had some great luck at Wallyworld as well but one of them had the TRex copter for full price so I left those. Might go back.

Tons of polys for $1.50. The orange creator copter is a great parts pack for orange cheese slopes and others.

My best find from the past few days was a VW Bus at 50% off. I was hoping to find more Ninjago, but didn't find anything of note.

Thanks for the heads up. I live in Pickerington and ended up spending more than I intended. They also had a ton of Series 7 and some series 8 mini figures for $1 in the clearance area. I'm thinking checking out the Whitehall walmart might turn into an annual post-Christmas tradition
Sure, glad you were able to get some deals. Did you leave any there?

I left a ton. I don't have a budget in the $1000's to clear out the place. They also had some World Racers sets in dinged up boxes and a #4195 Queen Anne's Revenge that's box had been opened and then wrapped in packing tape in the Garden Center area. Those sets were only 30-40% off and with the condition of the boxes I couldn't bring myself to purchase them.

I just came back from whitehall. I cleaned up bunch including trucks, landspeeders, space centers, etc. I left some ewoks and minifigure series 5. Thanks for the info. I came late for work but it was worth it.

Looks like I got what you have left off. I picked that dinged world racer. Thanks for leaving some for me.

Oh, I didn't check the garden area. How much was QAR? I would have bought it if I have known it was there.

I found a few interesting things on my search of local Wal Marts.

    Luke's Landspeeder #8092: $12
    SW battlepacks #7913 & #7914: $6
    Recycling Truck #4206: $14.50
    Star Wars polys #30053/#30056/#30059: $1.50
    Ewok Attack #7956: $12
    Series 8 Minifigs: $1
    Space Moon Buggy #3365: $2
    Fire ATV #4427: $2
    Creative Building Kit #5749: $9.50
    Kai's Blade Cycle #9441: $7
    Jay's Storm Fighter #9442: $9.50

The things I liked finding the most were the storage solutions, which I desperately need:

    Sort and Store #5001125: $17
    Portable Storage #2856205: $7
    Small minifigure clutch packs: $2.50

Disappointed that I could not find any of the larger Dino sets as I wanted to get a T-Rex for my collection. Also none of the Wal Marts had any Super Hero sets on sale except one had the Quinjet for $49. Also wanted to find a #7941 Sith Infiltrator and came up empty there too. However, all in all some great finds.

On the 26th I went hunting in Tampa and got:

Star Wars Lego #7957 (Sith Nightspeeder): $12.00 (MSRP $24.99)
City Lego #4206 (Recycling Truck): $14.50 (MSRP $29.97)
    City Lego #4431 (Ambulance): $9.50 (MSRP $19.97)
This store also had the Forest Police Station for $59.

all at my first stop. Then went to another and found the very last 7962-1: Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers, seals damaged and box dinged for $69 on the tag. Scanned it and noted $34.99. Went to a register and was able to confirm full contents and negotiate an additional 10% off (manager who was asked agreed to 10% discount without knowing item was already 60% off). Total discount on Podracers 65%.

That's some good brick buyin'. Then went out for more later that night. Got

Star Wars Lego #7956 (Ewok Attack): $12.00 (MSRP $24.99)

And found $10 in the parking lot, so that set pretty much cost $2.

Ok so I need to understand this. You can load all the barcodes into your phone and then change locations and the prices will update? Then the hunt boils down to whether there's any left, right?

There's a store near me that I've been to that didn't have any 7964s. But last night the barcode scanned for $49.50 at that store. Does that mean they have one left for sure? It didn't scan at all for any other local stores.

I stopped by Target as well.
    #4435 Car and Caravan: $13.98
    #7942 Fire Pickup Truck: $7.98
    #3665 Space Moon Buggy: $3.50
    SW Planet Series 30% off

I took my grandmother home last night (an hour away) and stopped by her SMALL Walmart...the only Walmart I know of in Iowa that isn't a Super Walmart yet and they were clearancing out everying everyone else has mentioned. But they had 4 Forest Police Stations for $54each and Ninjago Ultra Sonic Raiders for $54ea also. I sat there for a long time but ended up passing on them.
Anyone finding the Vampire Castle on sale?
  • smellywormsmellyworm Member Posts: 34
Yup I saw the Ultra Sonic Raider for $54 as well. Not sure about that. What does everyone think on that one? Good deal?
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 375
I think it's a good deal, one I'd certainly pick up if I found it! There are 2 stores near me that have the Raider, and they are full price at both (probably the only reason they still have them).
  • FatMattFatMatt Member Posts: 502
^I found a Raider for $47 but passed on it.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
So far I don't see what the big deal is about the Walmart sale. Aside from the Dino HQ none of these other sets hold interest for me. Is this mostly about the thrill of the hunt?
  • kwkwkwkw Member Posts: 1,209
Anyone have a clearanced ninjago ultra sonic raider that they can sell or trade me? Send me a personal message I had a pretty good walmart haul myself so you can have your pick of my things or I can paypal you cost plus shipping plus paypal fees and a few cmf series 8 free for your troubles. Let me know Thanks

    I agree from a collector/builder standpoint.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@Mathew it's different things. I'm glad to pick up polybags for gifts and trades, some sets aren't worth more than 50% RRP so that's the only way we'll have them, we picked up Friends sets as gifts for my daughter's friends, but having given my daughter the LEGO adventure book my husband was very interested in the podracers as parts sets to try to recreate some of the designs from the book. We haven't bought much as we already had most of the sets on sale but we all of us MOC different things and at 50% off most sets will be good parts sets for one of us.

I visited WM near my work again during lunch and grabbed a few 4529 Iron man set for $7. I usually don't buy bionicle type of legos but I'm surprised that it's selling well on ebay. I wish they had 4597 Captain America to pair with 4529.
  • legogrrl4legogrrl4 Member Posts: 42
I went to two different walmarts last night. The one in La Habra in orange county ca had the lego star wars clocks for 13.00 dollars and there were quite a few of them left. I also went to the WM in Cerritos and found set 4439 helicopter for 35.00 and the MF ghost train for 54.00. They still had quite a few ghost trains left.

Exactly what you said. Some of the other sets do hold interest for other people so that makes it a great sale. For example the SpongeBob set is on sale at my location and honestly it would pretty much have to be free for me to bite. Just not into it and really dont want my kid into it. As opposed to some of the super hero sets I love as does my kid so it makes this great. Like they say different strokes for different folks.

You are correct. If none of these sets interest you, they must not interest anybody else.
    ;-)

Seriously, though, different things interest different people. For example, I actually passed on a $50 Dino HQ I found. Why?

    - I have one.
    - I did not need a bunch of yellow for excess Lego
    - I don't want to resell

I did go for 50% off the Star Wars and City Advent Calendar. We will use those next December. I saw a few sets at 30% off that I went for as well. There were other sets I passed on.
  • Pacific493Pacific493 Member Posts: 379
I hit some more WMs in the area today and they were pretty desolate. I found a few things here and there, but they were all pretty much wiped out much earlier than last year.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ and the "here and there" are just returns and sets found in random places around the store that they put back. Maybe some of the 30% markdowns will drop further next month. With a few exceptions, I doubt it since the 30% items are not EOL.
  • littlerobinlittlerobin Member Posts: 17
I found 2 ewok sets in my second walmart, first one had nothing, and several ambulances. They also had new Friends poly bags #41017, #41018 and #41019.

Tonight the Walmart near me basically only displays 6 sets on the LEGO isle: 4 Hobbit sets (79000-79003), Gungan sub, and 70004 Wakz' Pack Tracker (Chima)..

They did not even have the cheap holiday theme M&Ms anymore (they were replaced by Valentine theme M&Ms)
  • BrianBrian Guest Posts: 87
I went back to my WM today (2 days later), they restocked the shelves with quite a few LotR and some Star Wars sets but none on clearance. All 50% off 4206s have been sold out but not even one SW Advent Calender has been sold yet. Mining Trucks for $17 hasn't sold yet either.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I got super lucky at a WM today.I had figured since the sale had been going on for several days that it would be cleaned out....It was full...but not much on sale. I found 6....yes 6 Destiny's Bounty #9446 for $35...They had Helms Deep for $89....but passed....I ended up with alittle over 200 Clone trooper battle packs. I also found two cases of series 7 CMF's. Out of the 8 WM's I have checked I have yet to find a Batcave, Ghost Train,Forest Police Station or Black Pearl on sale...
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
The 200 battle packs were not all from the same store...lol...its just how many I picked up over all. I still find a lot of the Dino sets but aside from HQ's I only picked up one of each.
  • LURKERnumber2149LURKERnumber2149 Member Posts: 15
I have not found a single CMF in all the spots I've hit, where in the store do they generally keep these? Believe me, it is not for lack of trying, I found a freeking ice dragon for $11 but no CMF? How does that happen....
  • LURKERnumber2149LURKERnumber2149 Member Posts: 15
BTW, what does everyone think of the DINO sets? Is it the next Alien Conquest on the resale market?
  • FatMattFatMatt Member Posts: 502
I think it has a little more going for it than AC, but it is not really a theme that appeals to adults, at least enough where they would pay 2x rrp.

I was able to pick up some Luke Landspeeders yesterday via the pick up option.

Dino sets are going to do well. First time we have had Lego counterparts of the JP dinosaurs.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I only saw the CMF's at one store out of eight....crazy
  • LURKERnumber2149LURKERnumber2149 Member Posts: 15
So do they keep them in the lego isle? I saw tons of mega/mario mini's but no CMF's anywhere!
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
When I found the CMF's they were at the end of the isle. I looked all over and never saw them anywhere else in the store...I did find a bunch of Tie Fighter poly's but passed...They were in another isle with the cheap toys

This is a big favor, but could someone kindly compose a list of sets that have been found on clearance and the prices at the various WM's across the USA?

    I'm too lazy. :(

I'm going to Seattle tomorrow and would like to have a list handy and know what to look for in the LEGO/Clearance isle.

    Thanks! :-)

Off topic: By the way, do any stores like Target and WM still have the holiday white chocolate covered Oreos left? I've been dying to try those out cause they look delicious. Shame that they don't have it in Canada...

Checked my Walmart after work today, I was sick before that for 2 days. Went and everything was picked clean pretty much. All that was left was some Recycling Truck ($14.50) and the Avengers Quinjet ($49 something). I passed on them. Trying not to expand my themes much with TMNT coming next year. I at least want all 4 turtles which looks like you can get with 2 sets. :D
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
^Avengers Quinjet for 50? I probably would have bought that. I didn't bother looking this year because I already picked up just about everything that appeals to me. But thats one set I'm still on the market for.
