Shipped and sold by Amazon, sorry for the lack of links, on my mobile.

Star Wars - 75000, 75001, 75002, 75005

76000 (Arctic Batman), 76004 (Spider Cycle)

Probably others, but those were what I was looking for!

    Thanks for the links...

75005 - Rancor Pit - $60 for 380 parts! Yikes! That one should get discounted...

But the others are unlikely to be heavily discounted for awhile, unless BOGO50% at some point.

To get them now for Christmas (and if you order 75000, 75001, 75002, 76000, & 76004 you have enough for free Gund Bear!), that isn't a bad deal...

So... why not, needed another bear anyway! :)

(I'm a sucker for those darn things!)

I suppose #75005 is one of those sets that people will get ASAP as they will feel it is needed to have a complete Jabas palace, plus the Rancor is pretty cool and quite large by the look of the pictures, so only having 380 parts probably won't matter.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas TexasMember Posts: 8,409
^ True, but since we haven't built Jabba's Palace yet, we are in no rush.

Waiting to finish our new LEGO room before we build much more, ran out of room in the current LEGO room. :)

Thanks for the heads-up, Zon. I am so torn on whether to order the Batman and Spider-man sets right now...the price of each set seems perfect considering the number of pieces and minifigs included. That white Batman looks neat, too. I just have no clue as to who Aquaman is...I'll think on it while I walk tonight.

Given the size and desirability of the set, coupled with the fact that most people thought it would retail for $79.99, I'd say $59.99 seems like a deal. Will it get discounted down the line? Yes. But they'll also sell a ton at that price point first. The rest, on the other hand, seem pretty over-priced for what they are, though I did go ahead and pick up all the TMNT sets.

@LegoFanTexas - will you be posting photos of your old & new LEGO room?

Nope... After all the flack from last year about how I'm evil for buying up lots of LEGO that other people can't afford, I stopped posting pictures for the most part... :)

You're kidding. You diss LotR Weathertop yet think Rancor Pit is a deal. Weathertop has more parts, a much more intricate build, and IMO better minifigs. I'm sorry, but this set is so lame. There's hardly anything to it. Any kid could build it out of existing bricks. You're essentially paying $60 for the Rancor and his keeper. And it looks ridiculous when Jabba's Palace is stacked on top of it.

I didn't say the rancor pit was a deal. I said it seems like a deal given what it was expected to be priced at. Contrast that against Weathertop, which pre-release, people expected to cost $49.99 on the expensive end, at it seems like less of a deal comparatively... never mind that Star Wars is a much more valuable brand to TLG than LotR is.

Also, to be fair, my issue with Weathertop is less to do with price and more to do with how terrible it is compared to what it's supposed to look like. I have no such issue with the rancor pit... which looks like a pit.

The Rancor Pit should have been $49 at the most, all of us would have been happier at $39, but I understand the extra money for the mold for the Rancor.

But $59? 16 cents a part? It is a collection of very basic parts, plus a Rancor.

Of course, Jabba's Palace has been on sale for $99 many times, so this will be too I'm sure. $49 should be found often, $39 will be harder to come by, but it will hit that someday I would imagine.

Again... they've set the price at what they think they can sell it at. There's a lot of pent up demand for the rancor, so we'll see how if this set is discounted any more frequently than your typical LEGO set. My money's on 'no.'

Anybody could of designed the Rancor Pit. Just because it doesn't aspire to be anything more doesn't make it good. I think they did an excellent job with Weathertop. They crammed a lot of play features along with an interesting design into 430 pieces. You're way off base.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 2,002
So... the rancor pit is bad... because it is what it aspires to be... but Weathertop is good because it has a handful of play features in a set that doesn't even appear to be Weathertop? With respect... that really makes no sense.

Again, I'm not saying the Rancor Pit is a deal... but it's inarguably the closer of the two to the source material, which is much more important to me than play features.

Uhh, the Rancor from the movie is about 5x larger in scale than the Lego version. That's accounting for minifig scale. Aside from constructing a mountain side from Lego, Weathertop is a good approximation to the movie.

    #70505 - Temple of Light

To be blunt, they look phoned in... The 2nd wave all looks much nicer to my eyes, but then I'm not 7! :)

Well... at least we agree on the scale of the rancor.

Now that I see more pictures of the golden sets, I feel a bit underwhelm. 70500 is like a mini samurai mech, I suppose is ok for a $12 set. Garmatron looks like a trash can with conveyor belts attached. Golden mech could be bigger or have a few more things going on. It quite frankly looks like a poor man version of 6862. A straw hat head, really?

    Ok, that takes the cake...

    Friends Water Scooter Fun 41000

    28 parts... in a box... for $8.99

That is 32 cents a part. Seriously...

Nuts! And they'll probably sell a million of them...

Likewise, we have built most of the 1st and 2nd wave, my son loves Ninjago... but now that the cartoon is over, we might completely skip this wave and move on.

The sets and cartoon are out of sync, why wasn't the Temple of Light out last month?
  • BlueMoonUSABlueMoonUSA Member Posts: 116
^ In view of this, I reckon this last wave might be pretty short-lived. EOL June 2013 anyone??

I ended up ordering both the Spidey Cycle Chase and Arctic Batman sets. They both look so cool, especially Nick Fury's HoverConvertible.

LOL, so with postage it's about $1 a brick. :0

So Lego [email protected] have 41000 listed at $6.99, so even Amazon has it listed above RRP, first time I have noticed Amazon doing this, is this new for them?

I suppose its not as bad as selling it for 3 times the RRP as TRU has.

No, Amazon has been doing this more and more... The new $9.99 Hobbit set is listed at $11.99 and others are a few dollars over as well...

Yet they all continue to sell. It is possible that Amazon is learning from TRU. :(

Found the Rancor pit at TRU in Fairview Heights Illinois. Took a pass as they had it priced at $64.99. TMNT were on the shelf as well.

I'm at TRU right now as I type. New Superheroes, Frienda, Rancor all in stock an overpriced. And yes, the Friends watercraft set, retail $6.99 (Amazom has started marking thing up now, too!), is on the shelf for $23.99.
  • turtle1173turtle1173 Member Posts: 230
My TRU in Missouri today had the Spider-Man daily bugle set for $55. They also had the tumbler/bat set for $45. I didn't pick up either, as I hate paying more than retail for anything. Not impressed with the tumbler set but the daily bugle doesn't look bad.

I saw this happen at the beginning of th year with some other small Lego Friends sets. The prices were upped a bit.

  • BastaBasta Australia Member Posts: 1,259
@tamamahm I suppose with the smaller sets it may be that they mark the prices up due to all the free shipping that is offered in the US. If #41000 is purchased on its own and postage is free, it probably costs Amazon money.

Amazon has the Spider Man Daily Bugle set now too (#76005) for $49.99. Recently added as it was not showing up at all yesterday.

Suddenly (in the past 12 hours or so), Amazon now lists some of the 2013 sets as "This item will be released on December 31, 2012" even though they had been selling them for several days. I guess they got an email from LEGO saying "stop it!"

    :)
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
I'm guessing a brand such as LEGO wants more control on releases so they can push out old merchandise and get more marketing value out of new release dates... trying to build expectation and media chatter building up to when new products are available.

Yep, ALMOST bought a Rancor pit when it surprisingly showed up and told me it could be delivered by the 24th and was actually on sale. I believe this one will be heavily discounted in the future so I passed. But I also checked on the A-wing and Amazon said it would be here by the 24th. I ordered it at 10PM Eastern time last night.

Woke up this morning 6Am and now Amazon says that set won't arrive until January. Too bad for everyone else because mine will be here next Monday. SWEET

Good thing I jumped on the Artic Batman and Spider-man cycle chase when I did; they arrived yesterday. Haven't built the Batman set yet, but the Spider-man cycle chase is a great set- the green car is really a piece of work.

Agreed! I got the Spider Cycle set yesterday as well and both the cycle and Fury's hover car are excellent designs.

So, if you haven't heard, all 2013 lego sets on Amazon are now marked as not releasing until December 31. That means if you've made any orders in the last few days and they haven't already shipped, don't expect to get them in time for Christmas.
  • ZonZon Member Posts: 214
Both of the Marvel sets arrived from Amazon yesterday. Haven't built them yet (finishing the Quinjet with my son now).

Sorry to those who got their orders delayed! :(

I already saw #75005 being on the shelves in Intertoys (a chain of toy-stores in The Netherlands) almost two weeks ago. The price for it is (in these toy shops) €75.
Seems like really a lot to me for a set with only 380 pieces, even for a licensed set.
