Finally...... After 14 years we finally get a Han Solo with the detail printed on his vest :D And the A-Wing Pilot helmet looks perfect!

A-wing looks great indeed! And if I'm seeing it correctly, its very cheap too being same price as the Skiff set. Easy Day 1 purchase since we finally get a new OT Yoda with it!

I like the green Yoda on the box. Not really excited for any of those... too much Clone Wars, Ep 1-3 for my liking. That Han Solo does look cool in the A-wing set.

The clone trooper battle pack looks GREAT! Some nice minifigs in here, but as usual, you can tell which sets will likely warm the shelves. Thanks for the link!

I'm liking the new clone designs and the revised (full size) chicken walker. And the Headhunter. Hey, most of them look pretty good actually. (Despite the fact that a lot of them are 'remakes')

Forgive my ignorance, but when did Han Solo ever pilot an A-Wing ? Is this from the EU timeline ?

    The set looks good
  • It's about time Han has some detailing added but based on the set could of been based on his Endor attire instead.

That's not an Original Trilogy Yoda since the AT-RT is a prequel vehicle. It's simply not the Clone Wars version (though it might be since the vehicle's color suggests The Clone Wars and not Episode III).

Nice to see another non-spaceship :)

A-wing is a winner in my book and a defo day1 purchase.

THE AT RT looks like a build by moodswim ( couldn't get those brackets right) and a host of others Looks like it would be able to bend much forward though.

Good call @prof1515 , true its PT timeline. But the pic of Yoda is too small for me (work filter blocking the WOG site, so using iphone) to tell if he's definitely different than the CW version since the eyes are quite big still. One of the things I was looking for was the flute-looking necklace, but can't tell if he has it on.

Funny. I was just thinking how poorly Han's smuggling pockets translated to the minifigure. Way too busy.

He's way too 'cartoony' to be a movie version of Yoda. I hope.

Side question (and sorry for the multiple posts) - Can anyone read the name on the A-Wing pilot? I'm hoping it's Arvel Crynyd, but the detailing on the lower portion of the helmet is off.

If he does end up being the CW version of Yoda (I really hope not), will this be the first SW set to mix CW figs with PT/OT figs?
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^There are no OT figs in that set... so my guess would be no. :D

too many recycled minifigs and sets. what a disappointment. the only original set is the rancor pit.

i think TLC should really let the market settle down. plenty of other materials to make into sets without having to keep rehashing a-wings, b-wings, y-wings, x-wings, etc. the constant rehashing meant fans are putting off from buying the sets. there is no urgency in purchase because as soon as a set retires, a new and better one pops up to replace it: e.g. x-wing.

it has gotten to the point where no one is willing to buy out older sets because everyone knows there will always be a replacement in the future. especially given that the license has just been renewed for another 10 years.

just look at last year's sets. they are already being offered daily for 30% off, like the sith infiltrator, and still not moving. In the past, anything labeled SW would have moved at 20% off.

in the end, this will hurts their bottom line. no one wants to buy now if the same or better can be had in the future. no reseller would lap up any clearance either for the same reason.

^^oops, mixed Yoda with Ackbar in A-wing set.

Have to say as much as I love the A-wing the rest of selection for this wave is poor IMO and the new box art featuring cw yoda is not great.

^^ If that is the Asteroid Field with the Tie Bomber, then I'm more than just a little disappointed. Looks as if it's merely printed on an otherwise black globe.

That's actually PT Yoda on the boxes. I agree about the sets, though. I'll probably only pick up a couple A-Wings and the Rancor Pit.

Just a bit off the topic, a friend from the US just told me he saw the new LEGO Marvel sets in store at Walmart! He was talking about 76000 and 76004...like, is this for real??

    VERY off-topic.

    More appropriate, to a degree.

I haven't picked up jabbas palace yet but I'm curious as to where the connection points are to sit atop the rancor pit. Does the tower portion of the palace also have connection points and also sit on top of the pit? I hope so.

It'll be awesome to see these two sets come together.

I'm happy that I'm just a collector of OT sets. I really love the A-wing. Finally they got the helmet right :) Definately getting the Rancor set ofc.

The other sets look very poor imo, and is it me or are all the sets quite small? Let's hope the second batch is more interesting.

Agreed though I'm not sure about all of the planet sets either.

Not a lot here for OT fans apart from the Rancor Pit, that A-Wing looks so basic in system size - maybe we should've seen a UCS version of this. That said, i'll probably still get one to hang on the ceiling and chase the Tie Fighters around. Planet sets do nowt for me unless they have a rare fig and I can get them for a fiver as the micro-sized vehicle and planet pieces i'm not bothered about.
  • doriansdaddoriansdad Member Posts: 1,337
The Rancor pit is a must for us. I am sorry to say the rest of the sets look very poor indeed. Thanks for the pic OP!

Speaking of Arvel Crynyd, is he meant to be the pilot in all the A Wing sets (including the one w/ Home One?) I think he was really the only A Wing that was focused on in ROTJ, though there were others unseen, since he was squadron leader.

I'm going to say no on account of the fact that the original A-Wing and B-Wing pilots looked more like generic LEGO spacemen than they did Star Wars pilots. Plus, the helmet markings don't match any on-screen pilot from the films. The new one, however, in spite of having Samwise's head, definitely has the same helmet detailing as Crynyd's film version.

Lots and lots of stickers on that A-wing...

Lots and lots of stickers on that A-wing...

The A-Wing looks to me like it was designed to hit a price point

I was all excited about having it next to the new X-Wing, but this one just doesn't look "right". It needs another 50 parts and needs to be ever so slightly bigger.

But that's just me, I doubt any kid is going to care. :)
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
It does look poor. I prefer the one in the Home one set. Still don't know why Han is included at all, he has no connection to that A-wing. Perhaps a character from the Home one/Death Star destruction briefing that hasn't had teh Lego treatment before should have been included, or a Hangar tech.
  • ShpadoinkleShpadoinkle Member Posts: 420
It looks almost identical in dimensions to the #6207. They will probably look very similar side by side. I guess if nothing else it's a step up from the original #7134!

As to why Han is there...collectability and selling power. They've done away with the ground crew and machinery (though I very much liked the guy's hockey helmet in #6207) and put in two more minifigs. It's a cheaper way to ratchet up the "desire factor" on an otherwise small set that has been done before.

Not sure if I will buy this when I first see it on the shelf as I originally planned. I might wait for a sale after all...
