Sad story, boy has Lego stolen

I sent an email to the site asking for a method to send the kid another set. If I get a response I can share if anyone else is interested.

Hope I posted this in the appropriate place.

    Probably someone who needs money for drugs/alcohol and would sell anything.

    I almost posted something similar to a much smaller extent. But basically a rotten kid in a neighborhood was stealing minifigs from another boy. I'm sure this happens often, terrible to say of course, but true.

    The parents let it happen too long, not wanting to confront the child. Then they ask me, "the Lego guy", about replacing the figs. I give them a cheap Bricklink estimate of $100, and they couldn't believe it.

    I feel like if we knew what this collection consisted of, between all of us it'd be pretty easy to replace it all... Give this kid a good Christmas... Also a bit charitable IMO....

    I would send some sets out, but I've only got 4 sets in my collection, tons of figures though, might try and find a spare figure

    I would definitely send this kid a lego set even though I am in the US. If anyone gets any information, please pass it on to me.

    I want to say that this is the same kid that was on Yahoo news a couple of weeks ago. Sad story! My son got one of his sets stolen while he had it outside. He did get it back a few days later from a Mom who knew her son didnt own that boat but I doubt this story is a kid stealing another kids Lego set.

    Really, though, wouldn't your time be better spent on just solving this case? We can probably even get @drdavewatford to be your sidekick.

    Wow that is really cruel. I don't think a child did this. Sounds more like a re-seller.

    I doubt it is a lego re-seller, rather just a nick anything, sell anything at a bootsale type reseller. A lego reseller would have taken the boxes and instructions.

    I also doubt it was targetted. How would someone know they had a huge stash of lego stored in a shed? More likely it is someone breaking into a random shed to nick whatever tools are there, find a stash of toys and they nick the lot to flog cheap at a bootsale.

    I'm striking out here, emailed the newspaper and the kid's school with no response. Could someone who lives in the UK call his school and see if we can send a lego to his attention at the school? School name is Weelsby Academy. Thanks!

    NOT SUCH A SAD STORY, BOY HAS FOUND LEGO:-

    Having just called the newsroom to investigate how we could get in touch with his parents, it appears following the publication of news article, the whole lot of LEGO was returned in a black bin liner or similar and left outside his residence - the theives took it back!

    They also said that they had been inundated with offers of replacements with sets arriving at the newspaper office out of the blue. Brandon's parents have donated the new sets they received to the hospice where he is being treated.

    An update for the story will appear on the paper's front page tomorrow.

    That's awesome man, I'm glad he has hits Lego back. Great of the parents to donate the replacements as well.

    Just rec'd a reply from my email to the newspaper:

    Thanks so much for your email.
    It’s really kind of you to offer, but Brandon has been inundated with Lego – including from Lego themselves and as a result of the story, the thieves obviously had a change of heart and returned all the Lego they stole!
    Thanks for the thought though

    Even Lego stepped up, great company...

    Great to hear!! Sad that someone would steal the Lego in the first place but I'm glad he got his sets back.

    I am so glad the boy got his Legos back. It is terrible what some people do. This discussion also shows how caring and generous people can be.

    I'm glad the thief or thieves did the right thing. I hope they learned their lesson.
