I went to my GameStop this morning five minutes after it opened, and had to wait twenty minutes because of all the lovely people (idiots) lined up to buy Call of Duty. And when I get to the register, I'm told the LoTR games were shipped out late by WB and hadn't arrived yet. The Elronds were there, though the employee refused to give me one without the game. To ice the irony cake, a dolly full of UPS packages arrived while I was in line, and none of them contained the LoTR games.

    **** me to tears.

The same thing happened to me after a 10 minute line. At least they could of had a sign stating this. Did they tell you a new release date here in the US?

@HELLRAZR_28 That happened to me when I went to pick up the DS version. Had to wait in line while everyone else was there for Assassin's Creed 3. Luckily I was picking up AC also :)

Over on fbtb.net they are delaying that some batches of lego lotr game has the game demo inside instead of the game so watch out

Something is telling me that elrond might not be available anywhere else other than game In the uk now because amazon doesn't seem to have it and nor does play.com

In the UK it is clear that there are two different products. The game with the figure and the game without. It is not that the figure is a free add on for pre-ordering, since the game with the figure is more expensive than the game without.

If anything like Batman2, it will come with an extra card box with the same game packaging inside along with the figure.

Well, my brother's pre-order from Amazon (PC version, no Elrond :( ) got here this morning (very impressed indeed at the speed of delivery). We've played the first couple of levels, and I'm generally quite impressed.

Seems pretty good so far. I like it and it seems to follow the movie really close. I do like the free roaming ablity over the central hub method used on past Lego games. I am going to finish up Lego PoTC to 100% before I start this game. Im about 62% in the PoTC right now so I'm almost there.

62% almost there! That last 38% will take a long time in my experience ;-) I'm absolutely loving this LoTR game so far, one of if not my favourite so far, the addition of quests (albeit simple fetch quests) is a nice touch.

^ Fully concur, the game is excellent. The humour, as usual, is fantastic. The voices aren't at all jarring like I felt they were in Batman II.

    @atkinsar,

I am absolutely loving it too! makes a welcome change after going through Black Ops II...

Without giving too much away (I am only at 15% I think!), what's the best level so far?

So gutted that there's no way to get the PC version and the Elrond, I'd love to play it, but now I must choose between the elrond and playing it.

^Definitely playing it. Cause then it's like you have all the minifigs (albeit virtual) :P
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,272
I've only got to Bree so not as far along as you, I'll have another hour on it later and get back to you. Not really a level but Hobbiton was pretty cool.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
^ doh!, I thought you meant you were 62% through the LOTR Lego game. I did wonder if you had played all through the night. lol
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,272
Nah, I was referring to dread_pirate, sorry for the confusion. My days of playing games through the night are long gone, can hardly keep my peepers open past 12am these days, speaking of which...zzz

The production values of this game are fantastic! I have just made it one third through by completing the Fellowship quests, and now the title home screen has changed to footage from The Two Towers. What a great touch.

Has anybody been successful with the elrond cape, I also hear that if you enter the code A9FB4Q into the lotr game which is on the extras area you get to play as second age elrond

My thoughts so far (having got as far as Lothlorien): It's definitely lost the beautiful simplicity of the original Lego Star Wars games, but I'm not sure it's worse for it. I am still figuring out some of the concepts etc, but it is still pretty good. Most of the levels so far have been very fun (sometimes not well enough lit, though), but it is easy to get lost in the sort of 'open world' bits. There must be a lot of side quests etc, as we are only at about 10% even though we are 2/3 of the way through the Fellowship of the Ring. Whether they stay fun and don't get repetitive remains to be seen!

I find the addition of vioces works well in this game - it's all dialog sampled directly from the movies (so it's all the actors from the films). The open world is extremely fun to run around in - tons of stuff to find as well as a few race challenges. I think the addition of treasures and mithril items is the best addition to the Lego games ever. You can basically equip a single character to do anything in the game - no need to switch out to perform tasks. I have all of the Lego games and this is tied with Batman 2 for my favorite. And to kez - there are two different age Elronds to unlock in game - I assume one is second age.

I've been thinking about this and I also think it works because the dialogue is pulled from the films. I wasn't fond of the voices in Batman II, but I'm starting to think that it was just badly written rather than the voices themselves causing the problem. The humour just seemd very forced to me. But in LOTR, I think the humour and charm is much closer to that of the older Lego games. Because they couldn't add original dialogue to the cut sequences, they depended more on visual gags, which of course is what the older games had in abundance because there were no voices.

This might also be my new favourite, or at least tied with the first Harry Potter game which was my favourite up until now.

@kez I´ve just talked to a custmer service employee (one in a higher position), he told me after getting in contact last friday that the "problem" got solved and replacement capes will get sent out upon request! He told me that the problem was known over in the US but they didn´t knew until now in Europe! So everybody who´s unhappy with the short cape shall call the customer service and ask for replacement!

I received more short blue capes last week. Called customer service today and talked with a very nice lady who said she would get replacements sent out. Was able to cross reference the Item # of the older blue cape with the new item they were sending me. If it arrives and is the right cape I will be certain to let everyone know!!!

Question for those in the US who pre-ordered non-DS copies from GameStop for home delivery, rather than store pick-up: Did you get your minifigure?
  • willkfwongwillkfwong Southern CaliforniaMember Posts: 44
^ Yes I preordered a PS3 Copy from Gamestop. The game came in one shipment and the minifigure came in another.

@Diggydoes: Is the long cape a slightly different shape from the usual long capes?
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Cologne/GermanyMember Posts: 1,079
^yep,it doesn't go over the shoulders! I guess it's because of the hairpiece that will go over the cape!?

Smyths in Ireland have the Elrond minifig in what appears to be all versions. It comes packaged with the boxes. No need to pre-order. Not sure about UK stores.
  • kezkez United KingdomMember Posts: 831
^ I got my preorder from game and there was another box with a picture of the figure on so I presume it's in the box but i don't know because it is sealed and I'm not allowed it until Xmas :(

^^did you by chance see if they were in the same packaging? Implying that they are left overs? Or did they re package them, possibly meaning they could show up in all TRU
