If you're a Target Red Card holder the Black Friday deals are live on the web site now - including the Black Pearl for $75. You need to go through the check-out process and choose your Red Card to see the discount. No need to even visit the store for this one.

Btw, this works on Duplo Train #5609, too

Now the question is, how many should I get... ???
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I'm still thinking there will be additional sets put out that have already been discounted. Especially at smaller stores that don't have the room on display shelves.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404

Based on TLG's discounting of the Maersk Train earlier this month, it seems clear that they have gotten much better about their inventory management and are not overproducing sets that they then have to discount in order to clear them out when the set goes EOL.

Black Friday and Christmas are not about discounting sets to "clear them out" because they are EOL.

I suspect TLG doesn't understand the whole point. Walmart is not doing door-buster deals on stuff they can't otherwise sell, in fact they bring in special stuff to sell just to bring people in, including that $39 LG Blu-Ray player they don't normally carry, but will sell on Thursday night.

Want to get people into the LEGO stores to buy a ton of stuff? You have to do better than this list. I guess perhaps they think 50% off SW Advent is a "door buster", but that just puts it where it should have been priced in the first place!

Lego doesn't need to mark their prices down because every sale at their stores or online via Shop-At-Home constitutes even more than they'd normally make off of their product. Keep in mind that in most cases, Lego does not get full price for their sets because they sell them to places like WalMart, Toys R Us and Amazon who then mark them up to MSRP (or slightly above or below depending on the store). So regardless, Lego is making money off of ANY Lego sold.

While I'm a little disappointed, I'm not surprised at the meagre offerings this year. Still, if you factor in the 10% off on purchases over $149, the 5% off of Mines of Moria becomes almost 15% off which is much better. I think people forget that MRSP is the standard by which a price should be measured. Most Lego sales go for MSRP after all. Business has been good for Lego so they don't need to mark down their goods since people regularly purchase them at full rate anyway.

Got a red card just for the black pearl! It's nice how they let you use it if you are accepted right away...no waiting for the card in the mail. They cut the credit limit down, but at 76 after tax for the BP, nothing to worry about!

I have been told that the scratcher discount will stack with any sales prices at LBR stores. That means that you will be better off going into a Lego Store on Friday morning than ordering online. Online you have to spend $150 to get the 10% off. In store, the minimum scratcher discount is 10% with no minimum purchase, and you might score the 20% off or 50% off card.

I was thinking about getting the mini modulars so 20% off may make me buy. The question is do I get any other freebies or discounts if I only buy that set?
  • DadsAFOLDadsAFOL Member Posts: 617
^ If you buy it in store, on Friday, with a 10% scratcher, you should get it for $57.29. No other goodies for just that. But buy two of them for $115.19 and get a PaB holiday box and the free holiday set.

In store it appears as though the possible 10% off scratch card would stack, but I don't think you'd hit the threshold for the PAB box or the holiday set. Online you'd have to hit $149 for the 10% to kick in.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
^ I would be ordering online and it looks like the best I can get is free shipping.
  • PicopiratePicopirate Member Posts: 325
I may have to get another red cargo train since it will soon be retired. 20% off plus a guaranteed 10% scratcher, plus 5% in vip points, plus a holiday set, plus a pick a brick box is a bit hard to pass up.

For target BF black pearl or duplo train, don't forget to use "TGURD63S" for additional $5 discount. (code expired Nov 21)

Alright, thank you. However, I was hoping for confirmation that they would be, not that they wouldn't.:)

    Thanks, @PandaX

I was just about to check out with a Black Pearl for my nephew, and on a gut instinct decided to check a few forums for an additional code. I won't turn down an extra $5 off.

My final price was $70.38 with REDcard and your code.

Many people are reporting their Holiday sets are being stopped at one per household in another thread and they are being removed from the order either on the invoice or just not included in the box when delivered.

Has anyone confirmed this to be true? I have one delivered and would like to know if I'll be able to get another.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
^ It has apparently happenned to someone in the UK (2 out of 4 cancelled). I (also in UK) managed to get two delivered in two separate online orders OK.

The Black Pearl and Duplo train are both $99.99 on Target.com for me. How are some getting them for $75?
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
The discount appears only if you use your Target REDcard.
  • jagdjhjagdjh Member Posts: 95
Oh, now I get it! Thanks!

Same here. I'm glad I finished reading the thread before ordering. So glad that I won't have to deal with Black Friday crowds to get a good deal on the Target Duplo Train.

All these deals are real bummers, huh? I am new to the hobby this year, and I have been hearing all year, "just wait until BF!" And for some reason, I just knew the deals wouldn't be that great. Now I expect to hear , "just wait till after Xmas!" And I am expecting more of the same then- I just can't imagine seeing Lego sets on the shelf for more than 30% off even after Xmas. Maybe in the past, but certainly not these days, in my area and with my luck. Am I onto something, or can I really expect better after Xmas?

Just FYI, the code works ONE TIME only (per Target account?) on ONE item

I was just so glad I ordered my MAERSK train on Saturday since the set is now sold out online and has been sold out at stores for a while. It does not matter if the discount is 20% or 50% when the item is not available :)

^^I felt slightly nauseous after seeing the list, so you're not the only one that's very disappointed with the BF sale this year. Very weak compared to last year's in terms of discount % and the sets chosen to be discounted. I'm struggling to find anything worth buying aside from the SW Advent and CMF's (which probably won't be in-stock anyway). Maybe pickup the WV Cottage at RRP with the Advent and misc poly's just to get over the threshold for extra 10% off. Other than that, this sale is a snoozer for sure =(

    EXACT SAME BOAT here.

Ah well... I just ordered what I had to in order to get the holiday set this past week anyways. The only thing that would have peaked my interest this week was DS discount.

Perhaps May4th will treat me better. Happy holidays everybody!

I just had 2 FedEx boxes delivered today, both had the holiday set in them, so far I've gotten 2 out of 3. The 3rd order didn't have the holiday set, instead it had a 2012 City Advent Calendar in its place. I'm not complaining. :)

I as well have gotten 2 out of 3. The third shows that the holiday set("additional items") is being shipped separately which I have a separate tracking# for. All seven orders are enroute. We'll see if all seven holiday sets come in:) Due to the fact that this set fits in with the Winter Village, I can see this set being a little more desirable than previous freebies.

Didn't even last until Black Friday... Sheesh!
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Ach. I think I am the only one thrilled with this list, because 2 of the 3 items I was planning on buying are on here.
Of course NOW, my concern is that the items I want will sell out before I get to the store on Friday. :-/
    Hmm.

Dragonhawk... I have found that if you do not log into your Target acct by using the continue without signing in you can use the $5 off coupon multiple times. The draw back is you have to enter your information each time.

I look forward to parting out 3 Mini Mods.

I look forward to parting out 3 Mini Mods.

Is there good value in the set? I've never really broken down the parts to see what's in there.
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
Wow, I would be surprised if that is all they offered, though I don't doubt the credibility of the source. I will likely still stop by to check it out. Like others have indicated, the only set I was thinking about is mini modulars. At a possible 20-30% off, plus the bonuses if I spend a bit more, I suppose that is fine.

But, of course, hoping for something a little more special, something worthy of a looooong forum thread.

You are right. To think that I could have gotten my Zombies for $25.85 shipped... it is almost better not knowing...

@iccarus Yeah I'd say so at 1300+ parts and $55ish

yup add me to the list of disappointed folks. The only thing I was half way interested in was the 650 piece boxes from Wal-mart and they still haven't listed them online. Really don't want to be in a store tonight at 8pm Been up all night target didn't list anything I wanted, Amazon hasn't got much of my money this week. All BF stuff so far lego or not hasn't been to appealing this year.
  • red237red237 Member Posts: 334
    Ditto @blake711

Unfortunatley, they say the walmart set will only be available in store this year...

I was able to add Black Pearl to my cart without a Red Card a couple hours ago. But then I realized that I didn't really need anymore of this set!

WalMart is having an online Black Friday special right now... Pick 2 sets for $29.

    Pick one:
    3648 Police Chase
    9496 Desert Skiff
    8092 Luke's Landspeeder

    And one of:
    6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape
    9442 Jay's Storm Fighter
    9455 Fangpyre Mech
    9470 Shelob Attacks
or a pair of "NRG Kai and Chokun" spinner packs

I've been waiting forever for a deal on the landspeeder. The Avengers set was a nice bonus.

Can anyone confirm that a 99.99 lego.com online purchase tomorrow on Black Friday will be eligible for 2012 holiday set? I missed VIP last week...and am interested in winter cottage. Happy Thanksgiving!
