If you ordered the Maersk in the past few days like I did, LEGO might price match and refund the difference to your card. Just ordered it a few days ago. E-mailed them this morning asking if they price matched their own sales on recent orders and they refunded the difference to me two hours later. Great customer service - not sure if it's their official policy or just goodwill. Probably the latter.

These small touches never fail to impress me.

Ill still buy these from Amazon before [email protected], unless the discount gets better than the current Amazon.com price.
But like @LegoFanTexas said, this is probably just a better way to get them sold out before needing to do it on BF at 20-25% off.

^Factoring in the VIP points, it is a little cheaper than Amazon. For IL, they come out to just under $110. I figured I might as well, as I will be cashing in my year's worth of points in a couple weeks anyways.

I think the bigger Dino sets may do ok, but they didn't seem terribly popular to begin with.
  • thorniethornie Member Posts: 245
Does [email protected] knock off more than 25% for BF? Or is it a straight 25% for all sale items? Also, does Amazon have better deals for BF? This will be my first LEGO BF, so I'm just trying to see what all of the options are.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^Usually S&H runs a promotion to the effect of $10 off $100, $20 of $200, etc. Doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen this year, though.
  • cloaked7cloaked7 Member Posts: 1,448
@thornie Typically, one of the big draws on BF at [email protected] is a special minifig. Last year I think it was the chrome C-3PO. The special fig will usually be worth $20-25, so it is like an additional discount.
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
    Chrome 3PO?

I thought TC-14 came out for May the 5th? I could be wrong..

^It did. There were the two mini holiday sets given out as promotions last year.

For what it's worth, I'll take the holiday sets over the minifigures any day. I love the sets from last year. Great little scene.

^^^^^^ I stand corrected. Sorry about that. I get the specials mixed up. :-) Shadow ARF Trooper, Chrome this or that. The Hulk. Oh yeah, and the holiday sets. I was able to get the matching set. Good that I have you all to keep me straight! :-) I remember the specials, but forget when and where they were offered. The main thing is that S&H usually has them on BF and during other special sales and they are usually well worth getting. Whatever they may be. :-)

My request was denied when I called in this morning. Did you get an email confirming the adjustment, and if so, was there any personalized contact info of the customer service rep that did it?

[email protected] has the maersk train on discount. Could this set be on it's way out? I had to get one just in case because it is such a nice set.

Mine too! Their email stated because it has been more than a few days they would not price match. Fair enough given I purchased 10219 under a completely different promotion than the one currently on offer. Will wait for BF and see if they give an ever deeper discount (if it lasts that long).

Looks like Target is going to have the black pearl (4184) at $74.99 for Black Friday. Not a bad price, considering they are selling a little higher than MSRP. Now, whether that's a "get up at 3am price" I'm not too sure.
  • akunthitaakunthita Member Posts: 1,038
I love the Maersk Train! I won it at a LEGO contest, and I'm very happy with it. I highly recommend getting it, if someone doesn't own it yet. The colors are so nice and the whole design is excellent.

The only thing I don't like is those darn stickers. Especially the one at the front that lays over several parts. I bought an extra sticker sheet on BrickLink for good measure.

With LEGO prices constantly rising LEGO should really do a better job with those stickers. There are so many better options. They could of course print the parts, and for expensive sets like this it should be a reasonable request. They coudl include an extra sticker sheet with the sets - it shouldn't be that expensive. Or use removable, reusable stickers that are MUCH better thenthe ones LEGO currently uses....)c:

    Anyhow, yeah, take advantage of the sale and buy the Maersk!...(c;

Lego doesn't price match to newly offered discounts. I have tried a few times with no success.

If you do not have one yet and want one (and Amazon is out of them, and your Walmart's in the area do not have them for 50 dollars a piece or less) Then it probably is not too bad.. if you already have a bunch, I do not think it is much worth it.

^ That's a lot of "if's" :-) This will be one that I might get a couple of "IF" they have it still when I get there on BF. I won't stand out in the cold for hours like I did 2 years ago for the Troll Mountain Fortress, lol.

HAH, I know.. but I never have found one deal worth spending time in a line to get it.... I was lucky enough to go later either on Friday to find about 8 Mountain fortress' left at the Target by me. I picked up two. I think if I happen to come across them maybe Ill grab another, but Im not going to break my neck for them. :-)
  • iancam33iancam33 Member Posts: 407
looks like i will have to pick up another MMV as well.

Interesting to see if they sell out of Maersk Train at 10% off before BF. I would guess not.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,789
^---still about 2 weeks left, they could be gone by then. I would say anyone that really wants one should not roll the dice, or risk buying when they near double in price
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^I did just that for the Maersk and secured my personal copy. Now keeping fingers crossed I'll still find some in-store on BF. But not holding my breath.
  • BillybrownBillybrown Member Posts: 748
2 weeks after the Maersk trains sold out in the UK they were going for £140 a pop on ebay, not many sold at that but it goes to show theres potential, so Id say fill your boots with what you can get hold of.

Imperial Shuttle available at TRU.. I'm guessing it won't be around much longer?

Weird the first time it showed me my cart, now it shows sets retiring soon..
Wierd that Maersk is not on there, but it IS sold out in other countries. I would presume that, and no LEGO store has had them for ages and that the Horizon Express is in, that it i still gone, though why it does not show on that set, who knows.. maybe because it is on sale right now
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,789
Interesting that the red cargo train is listed as retiring soon, thought it would be the yellow train (as it has been out longer)

Is the Retiring Soon label on lego.com new? See: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/TECHNIC-ByTheme .

Do you know how to filter by that new label?

EDIT, oh I see it is under the Product Details options.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,789
I think so, at least this is the first time seeing it, but Maersk is not listed, That may be due to it being in the sales page.
Interesting to see the red cargo train on there though... Not too surprised to see the bank listed as such since the hospital is now out.
  • AmberylAmberyl Member Posts: 193
While I enjoyed building the Maersk Train, I would note that it's a pretty repetitive build. You have the essentially symmetry of a train car, and then the train cars themselves are duplicated, which basically puts you in the position of doing the exact same things four times.

I live in a smallish town as well, circa 65000. I know 1 other resellers here who doesn't do much. I regularly check ebay for Lego sales within 10 mile radius and there is hardly ever anything.
    UK pop apprx 62,000,000 / 65,000 = 953 UK resellers.
Crude calculation I know, but makes me feel better about all the stock I'm sat on.....

I think I agree with this. I sell hardly anything, but I certainly buy a lot!, and I can tell from monitoring stock at places like Argos during 3for2s, that within the vicinity I am in, there are only a couple of people buying lots of lego. A good example is that if you look at the current cracking deal on the Vampyre Castle, which is effectively just £40 at Argos if you buy 3 this weekend, there are still all 5 left where I am, and its the second day of the promotion. If there were lots of re-sellers, they would have flown off the shelf.
  • roxioroxio Member Posts: 1,384
^no vampyre castles, unimogs or epic dragons left in my argos ;)
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
I nearly went for three vampyre catsles, but didn't in the end. Three of those sets means a lot of panels. If they only contained bricks instead, I would have jumped on it.
  • leego76leego76 Member Posts: 360
I did pick up 3 vamp castles, one for me and two for other London bricksetters. Excellent price but I think MF is a bit unknown on the resell front in the uk (obviously), I wouldn't want to sit on too many as is there really much value in it? Bit over priced in the first place?

Loads of #2521 In toysrus today at below rrp. Quite surprised to see them still there.
  • BrickarmorBrickarmor Member Posts: 1,258
^Geez, no kidding! Not online however, so no stockpiles have been found.
  • turtle1173turtle1173 Member Posts: 230
^^ Did your TRU not have them and now they do? Or have they had them all along and have lowered the price? Haven't seen them at mine for a long time.

    So what's the verdict on #3677? It's City but it's a train...
I think it could be a good one but what if that retiring lable is just a mistake? It's only been out for about a year...
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
^^ Not somewhere I visit regularly. I think it was there last time.

3677 is a 'special edition' if I am not mistaken and I believe in the US is was a TRU exclusive, so Im not too surprised.. I just assumed that the yellow train would go because it has been out longer and is more expensive. But I guess the LEGO train line for citiy will stay with the two sets until the next ones come along (which Im hoping is this year but who knows)
