TRU usually leaks. In the past, some Lego stores used to start selling sets before the "planned" date but that has been tightening up recently. Still sometimes Lego relents early when TRU opens the floodgates.

LEGO Stores and Toys "R" Us should be getting the first batch of sets in less than two weeks. It's not a leak - the planned date is always right before Thanksgiving. The "January" dates often seen in retailer catalogs and advertisements are essentially wide availability release dates, rather than actual release dates.

Notice the LEGO City fire station is gone from lego.com. LEGO isn't going to have a holiday season without a fire station to sell.

Unless they are just that confident in #10197, which they shouldn't be.

Why not? So many resellers have been buying it, they just might be missing the forest for the trees.

The people at LEGO who look at these things are not fools, but they are also human and might be missing that part.

Nah, they know that #10197 is for the adult / advanced market and not for the kid / typical consumer market. The current #7208 was a 2010 set but hit the market in late 2009. Sold out right now, but I'm sure they will either get more in stock or they'll launch the 2013 version in time for the holiday sales push.

^It's usually the licenses that are saved for January.

I think the Hobbit sets are going to make it until the end of November. TRU always gets all of the new sets early...

I hope this video here is a good tip for you when the Hobbit sets will come out:
