Im just wondering because thats were they pretty much end up. but I'm not saying they should completely stop putting the stores in malls or theme parks, but maybe put them in like small neighbor hood retail centers/districts?

it's all about foot traffic, and malls still drive that big-time - most bang for the buck. Why start going into small neighborhood retail centers when there are still so many malls that haven't been tapped yet?

Would you count Rockefeller Center? it's a major shopping area but it's not a mall/legoland/disneyland

What about the one in downtown Chicago next to the American Girl store?

I agree, it is about foot traffic. These other two places, like Disney, already have huge foot traffic.

small shopping centers couldn't compete with the big box stores that already have Lego. Malls make the most sense for a niche product store.
