As mentioned in the Brickset news. Didn't realise that it would be on Remembrance Day, and I will have to remember to get my poppy. But who will be going?

I spoke to a store manager who said they will keep the doors locked during the hour and won't open till the public until after the silence at 11am

I'm not making any more large purchases until the sales (either black Friday or Boxing Day). It is my aim to get a UCS SSD for around £200 -whether that's possible I don't know. Either buy TRU US shipping to the UK with a discount to circa $300 and cop for the duty or maybe Amazon.es/Amazon.it, or even [email protected] UK knocking it down to £250 and me using some VIP points. Sheffield is a little to far to be THE North East branch - it's still 150 miles from Newcastle - nigh on halfway down the country. Come on Lego - get us a proper North East Branch that could maye serve southern Scotland too.

I would hope they'd observe the minute's (two minutes?) silence. If I remember correctly I was at the Liverpool grand opening last year, and I don't think it was even mentioned, or at least there were plenty of people who didn't pay any respect.
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
Yes they are at least in sheffield, hence why the doors stay locked till after the 2 minute silence

    ^^ Liverpool opening was September...
  • SilentModeSilentMode UKMember Posts: 577
Then it was the 9/11 moment of silence (ten year anniversary).
  • MatthewMatthew Cheshire, UKAdministrator Posts: 3,735
    Ah, forgot about that

Anyone here going to Sheffield on the 11th?
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,332
Was planning on the Manchester store to pick up a MMV with £5 off + the 15%. But realised the cost of getting there, plus the time just wasn't worth it. Picked one up today instead - couldn't be sure there'll be any left by Brick Friday.

Im hoping to get a GE. Think I might have to get there earlier to secure that.

I'm hoping to go to Sheffield. Must make sure I'm there before 10 in case there is any confusion/mayhem like last time.

Not sure whether to go to Stratford or Shepherds Bush this time, but will be going to both stores to see what's on their walls.

My Wife has just informed me due to timing I might not be able to goto the store for the %15 off. Gutted. :(

I'm sure that would be fine @teamladd but I guess ring the store if you want to be certain.
  • TheBrickLaddTheBrickLadd Chippenham, Wilts, UK.Member Posts: 844
@caperberry cheers ill ring at lunch.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,332
Unless there's something you expect to go out of stock - is it not worth waiting for either the VIP morning or the brick friday weekend. With the scratch cards the discounts will be almost as good and there's the extra gift as well?
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation UKMember Posts: 5,594
@cheshirecat - that's my thinking. Plus I get to keep my Sunday lie-in that way :-)
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
@teamladd, the Sheffield one let my daughter in last time so you will be ok
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,332
^^ If only lie-ins weren't a thing of the past for me.... damn kids. ;)
  • TheBrickLaddTheBrickLadd Chippenham, Wilts, UK.Member Posts: 844
@bricksan cheers. Rang them earlier. The girl laughed at me and said it was fine. Lol
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
    @cheshirecat, any news? Thanks!
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,332

Anyone thinking of going to Milton Keynes? I see this as more of a social opportunity than a retail opportunity, but if no one else is going I might as well stay in bed too :-)

I was definitely thinking about it, but now I'll be attending the VIP event the following weekend I don't think my wife will stand for it !

going to give this one a miss as I am punch drunk on deals.

For the Londoners, I've updated the PAB wall contents on BrickBuildr. There isn't really much else I'd be looking for, but the Shepherds Bush store has some very cool "build your own baubel" kits that aren't at Stratford.
  • caperberrycaperberry LondonMember Posts: 2,226
I noticed that last night - thanks so much!
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,332
@ChanMcL Went in this morning, no Maersks in stock. She said she thought Liverpool might have some - may be worth a phone call.

Still no empty baubels at Manchester.

Hmm. Liverpool is abit too far to travel.

Looks like my wallet will be kept as it is now! But no maersk train!

Also, thank you so much @cheshirecat

I'll be at Sheffield once again. I'll stick around for a cuppa afterwards if anyone is interested, @bricksan, @teamladd?
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Fairy Land Member Posts: 4,030
@ChanMcL Just call round the brand stores and pay over the phone. They will post it out for £10. So no afol discount but better than paying aftermarket prices.
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
@tyosolo was going to say the same :-)
