Finally built my newly acquired Skulls Eye Schooner tonight. Only missing one ship now to complete the collection (6280/91 Armada flagship). The old style instructions are definitely a different experience from the new ones. Having to search the image for the added pieces is a more engaging building experience than today's few pieces at a time per step and 100 page books.

Going to Ikea to buy anouther storage box to sit my newly built UCS MF on. Ikea furniture is like Lego too, just with fewer pieces but you feel compelled to ignore the instructions when you're building it.

I participated at the Lego Creation Nation build today. An outline of the United States filled with custom built 16x16 baseplates is smart. I built a "skyscraper" that looked like a bumblebee.

Those of you in the Tigard, Oregon area should bring the kids. You also get a $10 off $50 coupon that stacks with the 10% off coupon in the catalogue this month.

Installing more shelves in the Lego room with the husband. There have been a lot of "PIVOT" and "Move that side, no that side, no, your other side" comments.

Here's what I learned about free labor. It's free.

Picked up my Minecraft set today that I ordered off of Amazon a week ago. The box was surprisingly small and quite heavy.

PS, the brick separator included is my first ever of the newer model. :)

Currently finishing off building Dino #5884 Raptor Chase with my less LEGO- enuthusiastic son. Only taken us an evening 2 weeks ago and an hour this afternoon! :o/

Edit:- He has literally just said "I am about to lose my patience with this. Why you like LEGo I don't know. Dad, can you put this in......."

Edit:- Turns out he had the chicken drumstick in right all along and that the pin inside is supposed to be crooked. "You're kidding me. LEGO sucks."

    ^I weep.

On the other hand, I weep with joy for my wife has made me the proud owner of the Ghost Train!!!! My first MF set! Since Oct/Nov is our birthday/wedding anniversary time, as a surprise (oh yes!) she impulsively bought it at Target. For retail. Do you think I told her about double VIP points? 15% off at Amazon? Ha. Now I just have to convince my son to take it apart so I can build it!

Edit: Oh. Eek. Salt in the wound...

^ if you haven't opened it yet, or maybe even if you have, take your receipt to customer service and get a price change. I bet they will put the difference from the sale price back on your credit card no problem

Tonight I've built a couple of Star Wars sets, and listed a load of CMF 6-8 figures on eBay to pay for them!

Time to plan the MF Halloween display now.

Built most of the vampyre castle with my son this afternoon in preparation for the Halloween display! Had a great time and love the build so far - looking forward to finishing it before moving on to ghost train.

Trying to convince myself I don't need a Haunted House for Halloween...
  • pd66pd66 UKMember Posts: 168
^ a little bit of me hopes you fail - would have loved one myself but not quite ready to spend that much on a single set.....or at least that's what my wife says! I settled for the castle and train instead.

^ .. ^^ ... A large box from Lego arrived the other day, and my wife has hinted that she's already bought my Christmas present, and has also (seperately) hinted that I shouldn't buy the haunted house, so I'm hopeful that I'll have one to open in a couple of months time :) .. If so, then she could hardly choose a better present

Just rinsed my assembled Winter Toy Shop under the shower because it had an insane amount of dust. Forgot it had the light up piece so that got soaked, LOL Good thing it still works.

So how do you I about drying the set?
  • Penkid11Penkid11 Member Posts: 787
@LegobrandonCP Put it in front of something(s) that can blow air at it for about a day. I actually would suggest to disassemble it first.

Yea, I had it under a fan for like an hour or two, but don't wanna keep it on for the whole night. Do you think that the moisture will ruin the quality of the bricks in the future?

It was just one of those "HOL" hardwood storage cubes, no glue required. I try to steer away from Ikea for furniture generally as the best stuff they do doesn't have a price advantage over something else bought elsewhere, but some things they do just can't be beaten, like the Hol storage boxes and their hot dogs. Spent just over an hour yesterday giving it a mid-oak oil rub to bring out a bit of colour before deciding for a while what was the most secure way of lifting the UCS MF onto the 2 HOL boxes (already had one). It seemed secure holding the structure revealed by taking off the top gun turret assembly, but it's a heavy lump for only a few fingers grip, I thought I was going to drop it at one point!

Or what I find does the trick for me is something like, "I've bought this as it was in the sale [cough]. Would have been silly to let the offer pass us up so it can be my present from you if you like. Nope, I don't mind having to wait for it but the kids would get soooo much enjoyment from if they were to have it before Halloween next weekend."

I got my Ninjago Character Encyclopedia from The Book People today. As it was sent in a padded envelope, one of the corners was ever so slightly damaged. I called them, and they are sending me a new one out free of charge straight away, no need to return the original order.

    BONUS!

    Tesco, Argos - Take Note!!!

    @LegobrandonCP
As long as it isn't outside covered in rainwater, then no. It will leave moisture marks if you don't have something continuously drying it, though. And being that its that set in particular, Ibqould say its worth it.

I had a few to many to drink and bought a iffy action on eBay for series 1-8 all 128 minifgures 100% complete. Not sure what I should have gave for it, but I am really nervious I just got taken.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Dunes of TatooineMember Posts: 3,639
^If it was under $500, then you did alright @stegmanco since S1 really pulls the price up. Half a year ago I picked up S1-4 complete with a few extras for $275 as a reference.

I paid $290 that’s why I am worried. Worst part is I only really wanted a handful of the figures but the completionist in me had to buy the whole lot, after looking at shipping and cost brought me to over $100 for the ones I wanted. I said why not own them all. Hope I am not out that money. Too good to be true probably means…too good to be true.
  • Penkid11Penkid11 Member Posts: 787
That is a pretty good deal. I'd keep an eye on that if I were you.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Dunes of TatooineMember Posts: 3,639
In that case @stegmanco, I would consider that find a gem at about $2.25 per fig! Congratz! Now as long as it shows up at your door in good shape...
  • stegmancostegmanco Member Posts: 42
I was hoping the nature of these figs would lend it to not be as played with even if they are used. However some people, are crazy! I thought $2.25 was reasonable on BV and Coke Zero, let's see if I can justify that after I get a trashbag full of parts covered in dog hair and hampster bedding.
  • Penkid11Penkid11 Member Posts: 787

Finished my Grand Emporium. Only "glitch" was the flower at the top included in the set did not have a pin hole. Luckily I had a spare. Sitting it next to the Fire Brigade, it really is a thing if beauty. It's also a faster build than the latter, albeit a bit vacant and repetitive.

Have dropped the hint twice in the last week that I'd like the #10231 Space Shuttle. I know she's been looking for an anniversary present. I think that's a suitable trade for what I am picking up for her (shh, it's jewelry).
  • Penkid11Penkid11 Member Posts: 787
