Looking for a Lego Minecraft set

Hello fellow Brickset users,
I didn't really have too much interest in the Lego Minecraft set when it came out, but I just played Minecraft for the first time and became suddenly addicted :). Lego was currently out of stock in the U.S., so I decided to check here. I'm looking for around $30 for one of these sets sealed.

On a random note, I also have a sealed Hulk Promo that I'm looking to trade within the U.S. I'm open to offers on other Promo figures or even (wishful thinking) the Minecraft set :)

Thanks!

That set is going for $80+ all day so you might want to up your offer. Just trying to help you.

True, but Lego's been selling them for $35 and they're still in production. I'm looking for about list price. There just might be someone :).

I would say do not get caught up in paying resellers the more than double amount on Minecraft sets.. wait until LEGO has them back in stock... If LEGO keeps selling them out I doubt they are going to walk away from that. Maybe if the set was 2 years old perhaps, but it just came out, although I would not put it past LEGO to up the price on the sets themselves

(Insert sound of ripping a bandaid off an old wound)

So, why is it ok to comment on the buyer's targeted price and not a seller's requested price again?

I would think it is ok because you're not actually getting in the way of a sale, the buyer doesn't have the item so you're not "insulting them" as much by simply suggesting that their price isn't realistic.

A seller is welcome to ask any price they want, realistic or unrealistic, but a buyer who isn't offering a number that is reasonable, may just keep posting and posting without any idea of why no one replies.

So the attempt is really to just be helpful.

Now, if the admins disagree, then fair enough, I just don't recall this happening all that often regarding buyers.

    ^ whoa, I think I just started a controversy... :)
Anyways, I'm raising up my offer to around $40. I'm also still looking to trade my Hulk promo if anyone's interested.

^ Nope, no controversy... If the admins say not to post in buyer threads, then I won't.

Until then, I raise the offer to $45. ;)

so, we're basically determining the pricing 'floor' for these sets now?

Well, if someone is feeling particularly altruistic, they can certainly sell at below MSRP. It's not like anyone's preventing the transaction.

    ^ Go altruism! :)
@LegoFanTexas, is that a real offer?
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
^ I'd say as real as yours, and slightly more realistic, but more likely than not to be unfulfilled. Why would anyone sell a hard to get set at a loss, when they can easily sell for a profit?

Confused! Is it on back order or properly out of stock? If just on back order why not just order and it will turn sooner rather than later. In the UK it has an expected ship date of Nov 16th. Every single time I have ordered something on back order it has magically been shipped way earlier than the estimated date.

...and where are all those people who said this set was gonna fail so badly ;-)

^In the US, it's 'Sold Out' and you can't place it on backorder.
  • stickbug29stickbug29 Member Posts: 68
^^(the set sold for $35, anything above that = profit)
^ on the American website it is labeled as sold out, but Lego wrote that they hoped to be back in stock by the Holiday season. I believe it's still available on [email protected] in the U.K. but, sadly, that's not where I live :P

If it was bought from Lego Shop-At-Home then profit doesn't begin at $35 because tax and shipping must also be considered. This isn't a set that's presently on clearance after all.

There's something odd going on with Cuusoo. There seems to be an issue in getting them out to stores. For instance, Minecraft was in UK stores, but to the best of my knowledge the Hayabusa has yet to be found anywhere in the UK other than in [email protected]

It seems to me TLG are slowly running the idea of Cuusoo down. Will be interesting to see what happens over the next 12 months.

@LegoFanTexas, is that a real offer?

Yep, I'll be happy to buy all anyone wants to sell me for $45 each! :)

I do not expect anyone to take me up on the offer however...

@legofantexas - I believe they were applauding your willingness to sell at $45.

Just missed it :/. Thanks for the heads up though. It looks like Toys R Us is beginning to sell them, so I might just try to pick one up over there...
