I wonder what kind of equipment is used to do printing like this, especially printing onto curved parts.

@Bcj5_10 The 2x3 plate is this. While the top rotor is this.

I am busy sorting a 35lb lot of used lego. There are about ten partially built sets in the lot I can't identify as they are all made with fairly common pieces. Is there a way to search any of the Lego part databases for sets containing part xxxx AND part xxxx? If there isn't, I may be posting some pics here shortly...
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
^Not easily (that I know of). Most of the people here are quite happy to help (not to mention that half of them have a frighteningly encyclopaedic knowledge of Lego), so why not post it anyway.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,696
^^ Besides, it's fun guessing what they are.
  • beegeedeebeegeedee Member Posts: 380
^^^ try looking for an unusual piece in the build. It helps to track them down or at least reduce the number of sets when searching for it.
  • CupIsHalfEmptyCupIsHalfEmpty Member Posts: 545
To answer my own question, I've been partially successful using rebrickable. Before I started, I didn't have any loose parts tied to my account. I added a couple pieces and then selected "build" only using my loose parts. It then came back with only a couple sets that use those exact combination of parts. I'm not sure how complete the database is over at rebrickable, but it definitely has potential.

p.s. Don't worry I have lot's of weird parts I can't identify and will post them here in the next couple days for your enjoyment.
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
I was wondering whether Rebrickable would work, I was just trying to think how you would use it. ^That's a useful idea, though.

Need a bit of help here.
No picture for this but I will do my best to describe what I have.
Bought a box of lego with some instruction books, built up a police station, police lorry and several smaller creator sets, I am left with a snake made up of tan and grey Bionicle elbows linking eight body segments a definate head and tail and a fat middle in red/dark red (as if the snake is digesting a meal). 90% of the left over elements are red or dark red (the star wars colour) together with 4 caramel colour 3x8 wedge plates. Has anyone an idea what this could be- Ive been searching the database with no luck.
    Thanks in advance.

^ is called a "Wedge 4 x 3 Cut Back with Cutout, Two Studs", but I prefer to think of it as a "motorcycle saddle", as used in Set #4893.

The part number is 50948, and here it is on bricklink: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=50948

Darn enough to build a one legged T-Rex.

    Hi!

If anyone can give me a second pair of eyes on this, that would be awesome. I have identified almost all of my sets but I can't place these. I have scoured the town sets with no luck. I have tried looking by parts, but I can't find it.

If it helps, on the back of the 2x2 it has numbers:
    on top: 12 38
    bottom: 3068

    Let's try this again.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,696
They look like they are from set 8818
  • lannyjacklannyjack Member Posts: 39
They are!! Thank you so much! I thought they were part of my sets from when I was little. I never had any Technic sets, so I was stuck looking on town and racing sets.

I did get a bunch of Technic parts in a thrift store buy, and this is where they go.

    thank you again!

    Hi guys!
Can you tell me if the dark tan 2x2 tile (see below) is available in any other set than the modular fire brigade?
    Cheers! Jess :)
  • peterlinddkpeterlinddk Member Posts: 170
^^ If you need 2x2 dark tan tiles, they were recently in the PaB walls in the LEGO Store - if you live near one of those. Here in Copenhagen they still have lots of them, and according to http://www.brickbuildr.com/view/pab/ they are still around in many shops.

    Perfect! Thanks @atkinsar &B @peterlinddk !
I have lots of chances to get some. :D

So I have found most of my parts, but I have no idea what this is called. I have tried searching by curved slope or dome with no luck. I have just been looking at random sets on bricklink and peeron to try and find in an inventory.

    Any help with be great!

I've answered a few times, but this is my first time asking a question on this thread.
It's a slightly unusual question, too: What is the hairpiece used on Ewart in the Glomshire Knights brick comic? At first I thought it might be a "Gilderoy Lockhart" wig on upside down, but I'm not sure. Is it a custom piece?

^ It's the Hero Hair from Brickforge. Looks painted, though; I don't recognize it as one of the colors they offer (looks like light yellow rather than tan).
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
Alright, thanks! That's been bugging me for quite a while. :P

Hello - am a bit new to all of this :) Somebody near me is selling as attached in the following picture (I didn't take it and I do know not all the correct bits are together) what I was wondering is what are the two tiny figures in blue and yellow? Thank you !!
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956

    They are microfigures from http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=3838-1
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
@lark as plasmodium said they are microfigs from the Lava Dragon game. Looks like a complete Studios Frankenstein as well! You know, if you fancy selling any bits on... :P
  • LarkLark Member Posts: 3
Thank you both very much for the reply - ha yes I had only just figured out before I came back here that the Frankenstein is a nice hidden find among it but of course that is one of the one's I want to keep ! Cheers from Ireland

That could just be a result of color adjustments to the photo. It's easy to shift around colors when editing.

Thanks for identifying those 3838 microfigs, I have those as well and couldn't even figure out if they are LEGO parts or not :)

    Picture-4

Here is one that's been stumping me.
  • peterlinddkpeterlinddk Member Posts: 170
^ that is a (or rather two) 4169 Train Signal Stand(s)

Since they seem to be white, they are most likely from set #6828 - a small space-set from 1988.
