My Lego status is ECSTASTIC! I'm spending a dreary Sunday plowing through the tedium of uploading minifig accessories to my BL store one lot at a time, one thing leads to another, BAM! I just pieced together MR. FREEZE!!!

It's no gold chrome whatshisname, but hey.

Puzzled as to why I'm so compelled to pick up Star Wars #9500 (Fury-Class Interceptor), considering I own zero Star Wars sets aside from a couple of polys. I guess I'm just really drawn to it aesthetically?

The fact that I can buy one from Target.com right now for a final cost of $68 isn't helping (retail is $90).
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
^ I agree that it's an aesthetically interesting ship. I've thought about buying it too and I'm not a "big" Star Wars collector (I've picked up a few smaller sets). Growing up with Star Wars I'm actually bored with the OT ships.

It's also just the right size for displaying on a shelf and grabbing every once in awhile for swooshing around the room.

Getting ready for hip replacement surgery on Friday, hoping to get back to building quickly. At least there will be an end to the pain in sight after the surgery and recovery! Until then I cannot sit for more than just a few minutes making it frustrating to start a build and only be able to work for 5-10 minutes at a time.

@AFFOL_Shellz_Bellz - Hope everything goes well for you. Like you say, it'll be worth it in the long run.

@AFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Good luck with the op. Get a large tv tray to do some smaller builds to assist with recovery :-)

Just received my first proper friends set #3065 Olivia's Treehouse. I'm still kicking myself for this one. I got drawn into a bidding war on eBay for this one and ended up paying more than RRP for it!

Opened my mailbox, in there was these 2 sets:
    20008 Creator Tow Truck
    8956 Stone Chopper

Both from an unknown person. I didn't order them or anything, they were just there :-)

No, but I went into the bidding frenzy not knowing rrp, and there was only 30 seconds left.. ended up being £22 plus postage. Checked brickset for rrp afterwards and had a facepalm moment.

Arrived back yesterday from a long weekend in England.
Had a fab time at Steam. My very first Lego event and it did not disappoint. Some really brill MOCs. Really interesting talks too.
Great to finally put a few faces to names.
Added bonus: Found and bought an Agents set that I'd been after for absolutely ages (just one more set to complete the theme!).

@kevbags, @flump, @rich69: Sorry I missed you. Hope to run into you at a future event.

Picked up my two Baseball-building Lego kits (14 separate models) from fellow NELUGers -- now to build 'em for the RI baseball league (and then get them back to keep early next year).

Impulse bought two CMFs from Tesco and got the final figure I needed for series 8 - the evil robot. I really need to find a way to display all these figures!

No more lego for me for a while. Just went over my data limit on my mobile phone and am being charged 180 euro for the pleasure. They didn't tell me I was over, only that I had reached my credit limit. I'm a sad panda :(

According to the terms on the datingsite, it's 100% legit.
It's a 14 day VIP membership which I can cancel at any time, the gift (which was the advent calendar) will be shipped no matter what.

That's a pretty odd gift to offer on a dating site... unless it AFOLs only.
  • LaziterLaziter Member Posts: 76
^ I thought so too, but who am I to dispute their choices of gifts? I just smiled, signed up, paid the one dollar, got the gift and cancelled my VIP membership :-D

I'm contemplating trains. I never had much interest before but I'm tempted by the Horizon Express. Which of course would mean also acquiring some other trains, a station, lots of track etc...

I know I have no good answer for the inevitable question, "And where is it all going to go?"

As long as you have no answer to that question - that's a good thing!

Built weathertop last night - what an enjoyable build! It's refreshing to see kids Lego that's really solidly built rather than shakily constructed into the tallest thing imaginable (a la city). Nice techniques for the curve as well, overall a nice surprise. Much more of an 'adult' build than kingdoms.

Bit disappointed with R2-D2. He looks cool, but doesn't really feel like a 2000+ piece set, and the colour variation in the white is annoying for a premium set. And his third leg seems a bit small when extended O_o

Just bought #6879 Blizzard Baron at my local Lego Franchise shop. Currently soaking in a warm bath. All pieces are present and includes original instructions!

My journey into classic space has begun...

^nice set, love the old Ice Planet series. At first I thought you were having a celebratory bath and thought it odd but then I realized it was the Lego set in the tub

Finished building my Grand Emporium, love the modulars. I'm pondering ideas for modularifying #7498 without it looking too stark.

Back from my Mexico holiday and back at the UCS MF. One rear upper cladding assembly left and all the upper cladding at the front. Probably 3 hours work or thereabouts. What next after this? Perhaps a great sale price on the SSD on Boxing day? If I could get hold of that for £200 or thereabouts (perhaps a little more at S@H but with VIPpoints to cash in).

Started designing an extended wing to the new Arkham set in LDD. Since I don't have access to bricks in Cameroon this is the next best option

I got the Passenger Train earlier this week when it was discounted heavily on Amazon, and built it with my 3-year-old godson today. He had a blast zooming it around the track (although derailments were common at high speed).

My original thought on the trains was also "where the heck am I going to put it", but the trains themselves are pretty small and will fit nicely on a shelf for display. The track can always be taken out and spread out on the floor when desired for play, which I think is a reasonable compromise. (Although I would really love a display table.)

Shelob fell off while I was in bed and woke me up!

Being woken up by Shelob is not a great way to wake up, but I've lost a brown hinge as well. Waking up to losing a brown hinge is not a good way to wake up.

Shelob with a dodgy leg now back on the light, this time with a few twists of the string around the hook.

I'm currently experiencing Lego withdrawl. I promised the other half that I wouldn't buy any more before Christmas and every day is a struggle. I've convinced her that the advent calendars are a good idea for the kids, but I don't think I'm going to last another 2 months... Help!!!!

I built my mates HH today. You know hen sometime on a large build when you miss one brick from a page back so you have to take that bit apart. Well my mate does this the moment he tries to build anything. So he asked to to build it so it could be used at a dinner party he's holding friday night. Weird that its one of his wife's theme nights(nothing sexy) I build there table centre peace an i don't get invited. hmm.

I just recieved a phone call from TESCO saying that there was a problem with my order (half price #7065 Alien Mothership), so I went straight onto the order tracker and it said that an hour ago the courier recieved my order. I casually looked out my window and there was a lady walking up to my door with the package! Most exciting 5 minutes ever :D

Won an auction for Jabba's Sail Barge today! Plus, I got my catalog with coupon in the mail along with my Target RedCard. Time to do some shopping. Maybe get some LOTR and Star Wars? A train or a modular? Or somethine else, I don't know, but that's half the fun!!
  • WatfordScottyMWatfordScottyM Member Posts: 507
I have an overwhelming feeling of guilt, combined with joy. I told the wife I wouldn't order any more before Christmas, but this morning I'm £140 down and Winter Village Post Office, Winter Village Bakery, 2 advent calendars, a Superman keychain and a piece of cake on the way.

Damn you temptation of free delivery and double points!

Finished my bricklinked MF last night, and left with a fair few spare or "just in case" pieces that i'd had in my inventory already. I'm missing 3 pieces even though I was sure I had got hold of everything - 2 boomerang technic beams used on the access ramp mechanismand a right hand 6 x 3 DBG wing plate used on one of the front top plate cowlings, so i've used a LBG one for now, although there is one on one of the rear plate assemblises that is 90% obscured by the 2 wing plates on top of it - might swap them out until I can be bothered to order seeing as only 10% of it would be seen as LBG. There's a few parts I seem to have ordered un-necessarily (as I already had them). I just can't decide where it iss going to go. Some of the assembly seems a bit poor, such as being able to see plety of the internals through the gap between the upperforward facing plate assemblies and the upper gun turret assembly and the triangular plate assembly behind the cockpit tubing didn't sit right until I put a 3 x 1 brick below it at the end nearest to the gun turret. Instead of lying between it's adjacent plate assemblies, it rested well to one side, opening a sizeable gap on one side and none on the other - funny how such a simple fix with 1 brick can make all the difference.

Finally built my newly acquired Skulls Eye Schooner tonight. Only missing one ship now to complete the collection (6280/91 Armada flagship). The old style instructions are definitely a different experience from the new ones. Having to search the image for the added pieces is a more engaging building experience than today's few pieces at a time per step and 100 page books.
