My sets are coming in tomorrow. If they are damaged I will just be doing a straight swap in store.

I didn't say I was going to be dishonest. I was just wondering in a hypothetical situation if they would do that. I just want a undamaged box, but my time is $$$. Oh and I'm sure I have been screwed more times by retail stores in my life.

I also think that capitalizing on a pricing error at a store is some form of dishonest behavior. Just thought I would throw that in there ;)

By no means I intended to say you are dishonest.....but making it known that returning something bought at a discounted price and returning for a gain is wrong IMO. Customer service folks will and try to appease the customer in any circumstance possible.......regardless if they know, or should know, that it's wrong to do so. Return item for a one-for-one replacement or refund cost.

Buying online is always a gamble. That's way I rarely purchase online due to the possibility of damaged goods.

My good friend is a store manager at a TRU. I'm sure he will make the process easy for me. I have heard horror stories about returning items. I was talking to him about all the things people do to rip off the store.

^ exactly. Just exchange it if it's worth your time & cost.

I received my other 3 sets today and they were all in pristine condition :) As far as the TRU thing, I didn't mean to rile up everyone. I just order online because I have very little time to be running around town for Legos. I run 2 businesses and have a two year old and one on the way and I spend any "free" time getting groceries and running to doctors appointments. Oh...and working out :-)

Received my 3 orders today. 2 came in perfect condition but the 3rd was screwed up. Ordered 3 Jabba's Palace but instead got 1 Jabba's Palace and 2 Hogwart's Castles. Called my local TRU and luckily a nice customer service employee said I could bring all 3 in and just do a simple exchange. She had to call a manager to change the price from the current $149 markup back down to $119. A little bit of a hassle but glad it's done.

    Nice.

Got my 6 sets in 4 boxes today. Outer boxes weren't crushed at all but the 2 palpatine sets in one box together were both creased on the top long edge of the box. Probably from stacking at the warehouse. Didn't matter to me though because they are parted into my BL inventory now.

Wow I had the SAME thing happen to me, Instead of three Jabba's Palace's, I got One Jabba's Palace and two Hogwarts Castle's. What is really annoying is the box that had the two Hogwarts castle's was an actual LEGO shipping box that states 2 Hogwart's Castle RIGHT ON THE BOX....
Trying to deal with TRU via email right now to exchange these via UPS, unless they try that upping the price garbage.. Starting to wonder if TRU did this on purpose to 'correct' the mistake, only to then charge you 149.99 for the replacement Jabba's Palace.

I will not go to a store to replace any LEGO sets any longer, not after buying two Passenger trains and finding clone tank parts in ziploc bags in both. everything will need to come from a warehouse for me for now on.

^ That is awfully suspicious, that both of you were subject to the same "mistake". It's not even like the Lego set numbers are anything similar (4842 vs 9516).

Regarding store stock, Lego should really improve theft deterrence. Perforated tape would probably work well, but with stickier tape than the current seals so they cannot be peeled off without damaging the box. It would probably cost the same as the current seals.

Either the bins in the TRU shipping warehouse are messed up, or you guys got my orders :) I received 2 Lego shipping boxes each containing 2 Jabba's Palace that were supposed to be Hogwarts Castles! I had to phone it into CS to get it corrected, email wasn't working fast enough to get it sorted out.

I'm starting to wonder if they can get someone who is competent to run TRU?
I mean this is really the last screw up in a long long line of screw ups with TRU, from business decisions to their prices, NOW their shipping has massive issues?
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas TexasMember Posts: 8,409
^ This is why I completely passed on this TRU deal...

Way too much drama for my taste... I have to exchange at least half of the sets I get from TRU, more trouble than it is worth.

This is slightly concerning. I placed an order to my shipping address just south of the Canada/US border so I could save a bunch of money compared to Canadian MSRP. It's an hour and a half each way, and I wasn't planning on picking up my order for about a month as I have a trip planned. Maybe I should drive down and pick them up right away...
  • RennyRenny USAMember Posts: 1,145
I know they were probably flooded with orders and they were likely picking and packing like crazy but mistakes like sending someone 2 completely different Lego sets is inexcusable. It wasn't a big deal to me since I have a store 5 minutes away but it's something I and others shouldn't have to deal with. I'd gladly wait an extra day or two for shipping so that they would take the time needed to focus on their job.

Oh my more horror stories. This is the first time I sent my order home instead of doing store pickup to save the 30 minutes drive. Hopefully my backordered box arrive without hassle... whenever that may be :(

Got my 3x copies of Uruk-Hai Army today and the box was actually close to the appropriate size. Even better, none of them were damaged!
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 0 miles to Legoboy's houseMember Posts: 11,409
    Me too.
  • RennyRenny USAMember Posts: 1,145
Good to hear. I was thinking of picking up 3 of those before the sale ends. Even with the $3 markup it's a good deal. Also placed orders for 9 road plates. Surprisingly TRU has them listed at regular RRP so it's very reasonable ,and they are just about indestructible so you don't have to worry about messed up boxes ;)
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 0 miles to Legoboy's houseMember Posts: 11,409
    Yeah, that's a good idea.

The Uruk-Hai Army sets are great. I think they will do very well after EOL.
  • BuriedinBricksBuriedinBricks USAMember Posts: 1,367
I mainly wanted them for an army builder for Helm's Deep. The amount of figs in that set is great.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 0 miles to Legoboy's houseMember Posts: 11,409
Yeah, that too and I think that's the main reason why it will do well. Just a hunch :-)
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Still waiting on my Funhouses but only one of my Batcaves came slightly crushed at the corner. Not enough to hassle with them.

Found the new #3920 The Hobbit board game at a local TRU today, and picked some up on the B2G1.

Also nabbed three #7985 City of Atlantis, which were on clearance for $55 (so, $36.66 after B2G1).
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 0 miles to Legoboy's houseMember Posts: 11,409
No!!! You didn't get sucked in by the Atlantis sets on sale??!!!
  • sidersddsidersdd USAMember Posts: 2,432
^ Love the parts (83x white and 19x tan round 2x2 with grille profile), lobster guy, and temple statue in that set. It wasn't bought for investment/resale (although it's probably the only Atlantis set worth it's money).
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas TexasMember Posts: 8,409
Actually, $36.66 at this point in time is not a bad price for those sets...
  • cbaker1974cbaker1974 Member Posts: 150
I agree...that is a good price for that set which has some interesting parts. Love the temple theme on it, could make a cool parthenon MOC with a few of those sets.
  • BanditBandit Member Posts: 890
That is likely the one Atlantis set that will do reasonably well in the aftermarket. Gotta know how to pick 'em. ;)
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 0 miles to Legoboy's houseMember Posts: 11,409
...and they all gang up on Pitfall and shove his face in the dirt :(

I actually really loved building both the Portal of Atlantis and the City of Atlantis. Two sets that turn out to be far more interesting than you'd think, to look at the box. But I can't imagine they'll be popular with anyone not in-the-know about Lego.
  • Bosstone100Bosstone100 USAMember Posts: 1,428
Call it foolish or maybe just a newbie being overwhelmed with how serious this hobby has become since I was a kid but I went out and bought the whole Atlantis line.... all 24 sets. I picked up an extra #8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ for $15 I think. The box was crushed but contents ok so I built it and have to agree that there are some Atlantis sets that as very interesting builds.

Also bought all of Pharoah's Quest and those were pretty interesting. Decent sets for kids. I put them all in storage. Maybe my son will like them... and subsequently destroy them. :-)

I'm happy to see Atlantis getting some credit! I don't know if Lego just made a jillion too many Portals but that's a gorgeous set. I picked up a few Cities at TRU weeks ago at 30% off plus B1G1 half off, so like $35-40 each. Haven't built the City yet (Xmas gift!) but I hear the back falls off... Maybe a subtle comment on the inevitable decay of all civilization? ...maybe not...
