Eurobricks is a another great site for indepth reviews (if you like that sort of thing). The Eurobricks review is fantastic, as is the set. But the general agreement seems to be that it is over-priced in comparison to other similar sized sets.

On a side note, this also makes for interesting background 'looking'. A now Lego designers interview portfolio with his idea for a 'monsters' theme. You can see the idea for a haunted house.

Not that impressive in the flesh, and agree about the vampire castle, I realise that the castle is more of a frontage rather than a building, but still I held off buying the HH and am now wondering if I should get the castle instead.
And before anyone says it, I'd love to get them both, but I need to make some room to put them in first! (getting there slowly)

But for me, compared to the proper Modulars, it lacks special building techniques and was more straightforward of a build. Best part was building the furniture and accessories, which are the first steps.
There were a few out on the shelves at my local store today and 'lots' out the back apparently. I suspect in the UK and Europe this one will be mostly for the Lego nuts.

By the way it was worth the money and it is a great looking set and very fun to build even if it isn't quite like the other modular buildings.
I find it amazing just how many of that guys designs have made it. He sketched so many cool figures, and a large portion of them are now in existence.
Someone's in my fruit cellar
^^^ I know, and I know which is cheaper and easier to get hold of!
We DID however just build the Swamp Creature and I really enjoyed it as did the little guy. Immediately upon finishing he looked up at me and said "Well, I guess we just started collecting another kind of lego Dad". He's 4. Smart kid!
@yys4u I don't blame you to the honest. I really like the Monster Fighters theme but I regretted buying the Mummy chariot. What is going on with that helicopter?! The Werewolf set is cool but for me it's not as exciting as others in the range.
Returned it tonight. Exchanged it for the Ghost Train, a PAB cup and a ManBat CMF.
Still have a hefty amount left on the gift card I received. I feel better.
At least they let me keep the orange brick separator from it. Ah, the memories.

As a side note, I did pick up the Ghost Train ($80) tonight instead. A better value for the two items (the train and the plane) that are included. The train does offer itself as a good Halloween them item, as a tabletop centerpiece. Especially with the glow-in-the-dark ghosts and other pieces. I'm looking forward to it.
Pet Shop is closest in part count to HH, for $30 more money... Thoughts?
