    Next up! Sheffield store!

If there are people willing to trade other sets for my model store, then I will be in Sheffield.
  • SiESiE Member Posts: 238
I managed to bag one along with an R2D2 with 10% off. Very Happy =) I was nearish to the front with a few kids in buggies. My little un kept going up to the doors and trying to get in. Hes only 2 but already has an addiction to Lego. The staff were great as well. They gave my son a free Tie Fighter Poly. Didnt have the heart to tell her I have a load at home already but very kind of them.

I was too lazy to go. Only live 15 mins out but I didn't fancy taking a 21 month old with me so early and queuing. Instead, I went TRU and picked up a couple of slave 1s with the 20% off and a cars rideon for the little one.

Sounds like you all had a blast. I'm looking forward to Sheffield next weekend! :)
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
@teamladd, do you reckon it will have the 15% off because of AFOL day aswell as the model store?

@ChanMcL - I hope so as that's the day I'll be going. If not, I'll just hang around until 9 and buy something else too! :)
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Well, I'm thinking to but an advert calender + a keyring to be over £25 with AFOL discount as well as the store, since they are out of the 1st of sept.

Hope you guys had a great time, very sad to see the Lego Store models for ridiculous prices on eBay.. looks like to get one I'll have to beg someone to pick up 21016 Sungnyemun and the free store on my behalf at the Sheffield opening!! Unlikely but worth a shot!

Touched down in Manchester about an hour ago, and visited the store. Met one of the ex-Stratford staff members who now works there.

Word on the street is that tomorrow's minifigure set is of a "generic band"; not sure if it's the official minifigure pack. When I got to the store they were giving t-shirts with the minimum spend, because I guess they ran out of retail store sets. (And that really is sickening about people palming them off on feeBay.)

    On the PAB wall:
    - 1x2 bricks in Medium Blue and Dark Red
    - 1x2 tiles in Lime
    - 1x4 tiles in Reddish Brown
    - 1x8 tiles in White
    - 2x2 tiles in Dark Tan
    - "cheese" slopes in Trans Neon Orange
but mostly your regular selection of bricks, windscreens etc.

I'm having difficulty deciding what to get for tomorrow, but right now my biggest concern is getting to the store early enough. See you guys there.

@RainbowConnection, if I can arrange a trade with people for the Brand Store model, then I'm going to Sheffield for them, pm me for details maybe??

    Had a great day today.

Met up with @pb66 and exchanged very large parcels, he finally got his 7327 and I got a Republican Frigate. I joined the queue outside the door at about 09:15 but it moved quickly. I snagged a Friends Campervan set and Huw's Technic Tractor he reviewed this week. Got the precious store and paid.

Just as I paid I noticed the new Business Card set on the shelf (£11.99), which I wanted and thought I had better fight my way to the Pab wall and filled 2 containers mainly with the bricks and tiles Silentmode listed above. Luckily the queue had shortened to a few people and I soon paid again, but no store this time. The staff in store were very friendly and chatty and offered to hold my bags in the storeroom until I returned later in the day. Nice gesture, very much appreciated.

Manchester was heaving today, with the Pride parade and Man Utd at home and the tram network was just about coping with all the disruption.

Now back home - later than anticipated after a train was cancelled but a good day none the less.

Well I've opened the box (carefully) of my little store and seen the sticker for the Lego logo - I though that was a printed part but never mind - its definitely printed in the Business Card set.

I've just looked on Bricklink and there's 1 seller with 5 stores at £70 each - wonder how he got all those - organised a Lego Store coach party? and somebody else with 2. Theres several on **bay as well. I like the seller who has put "very rare - only 300 in the UK" in his blurb. Wont be so rare next weekend when another 300 get released!

Is it profiteering or Supply & Demand? - I'm not sure

I was about 7th including kids, actually think I was right in front of pd66, had a boy with him and a big box.

Yes I know that big box very well now after carrying it all the way home on the train! Sometimes you just wish the boxes weren't quite so big! Hope @pd66 likes his Scorpion Pyramid.

I expected a lot more to go on ebay. Only 10 so far.

Are there more stores planned this year other than sheffield?
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Compared the store to yesterday, a huge difference, its not even like 20% of yesterday, don't have to queue to pay. They had loads of mini figures left. Earliest number was 80/300.

Drew, could you take one on a white background for the database please?
  • SilentModeSilentMode Member Posts: 586
As soon as I get back.
  • TyoSoloTyoSolo Member Posts: 539
Oh my... not what I was expecting at all. This makes the Stratford store one look good. I won't rush out on the Sunday at Sheffield then. If I miss something this terrible, it's not the end of the world.

Is that supposed to be Oasis or something?
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Having come to an agreement with the better half about buying a haunted house (assuming I can get it below £120 from amazon es/it) if I sell some lego to pay for it, I'm now selling two Lego Shops from Manchester. I know, after what I said, but having bricklinked one I can't really afford to keep one new - i'm not a collector so much as a player - and the second one was a unexpected present from a work colleague. Anyway, if you want one them PM me - mint condition sealed of course.
  • VenunderVenunder Member Posts: 2,660
I could be interested in buying one for £25, but they will probably sell for more than that, so I will quickly lose interest. :)
  • RainbowConnectionRainbowConnection Member Posts: 58
Haha - same here ^ I want this set pretty badly, but can't justify FeeBay prices, I'll raise the offer to £30.
  • SilentModeSilentMode Member Posts: 586

did anyone manage to get the Lego store?
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Does any one know if Manchester Store has any Series 8 figures in there and already in a bag for a set?
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Manchester store has grab bags available! I got 2 myself and they have about 5 left!

Another adult was there looking at it too, could be one of the bricksetters??

    Lots of HH left.
  • morezonemorezone Member Posts: 207
Grab bags at Manchester store today.
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
    @morezone How many left?
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
I was jsut there - about 6. I got one (as its the first grab bag I've seen) but they didn't look that good to me. A lot of pick a brick parts and 2x2 rounds bricks. Left overs from the LOTR build?
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
I had 2 on the 2nd of Sept, and overall I had 611 1 x 1 round plate from it. 22 Steering wheels too!
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
    ^ That's PAB spillage!
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
    ^Who spilled 270ish Orange 1 x 1 Round plates :P

    But I had some decent red 6 x 10, 4 x 6 plates in there too.
    Also about 25 2 x 4 bricks.

To be honest, I don't think they are the ones from a built model, because I haven't seen any display changes, all the displaying stuff are still there. They did move the Superheroes stuff from the middle of the shop to the side in replace of MF series.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
Last time I was in a lego store I did see an adult trying to cram bricks into a cup (not carefully, just ramming) by placing it on the floor and forcing bricks in. Of course, the cup slipped and bricks went everywhere. So he started again at the wall, leaving them on the floor. And there was me with my neatly filled cups (over one hours work).
  • morezonemorezone Member Posts: 207
Don't bother going there for the TC-14 becuase they haven't had their delivery of it yet.
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Has anyone been into the Manchester store recently??

Just wondering about the holiday ornament - any colour
    and their poly bags stock?

Also looking for the halloween accessories pack too if they have any stock in??
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Been in yesterday, no grab bags.

But they have a christmas ball decoration thing for 2.99 to fill your own from the PAB
