Generally speaking, are the holiday polys usually with the toys or in the holiday section of the store?
Think the days of getting polybags on the cheap from Target might either be over or harder to come by.
Wonder if it will work here...?
What's your address so I can trick or treat at your house? Lol
Bah.
Regular price until Nov 1st. Discounted down 15%, then 30%, then 50% over the next week or so. Then the H.P. poly (and the Ninjago glider poly) went to 90% off. Most polys were then purchased (I scored 60 of the glider! and about 20 of the H.P.)... but like all product, some were returned or later found in the storage room.
Target then has a specific date where they ship the unpurchased "holiday" items off to places like goodwill. They can gain an original price tax write-off for doing so.
For about a month (at the store near me), a few H.P. polys floated out of the back room, but the product was no longer in the Target database. Luckily, I had a receipt showing I purchased the product at 90% off, so the check-out clerks matched the price.
Then, mysteriously one day, these polybags were again added to the valentines lego offering in my area (about 10 of them), but their price was again in the $4-5 range. Also, these polys were not just found in the holiday section, but also near the check-out aisles. Placement near checkout aisles, in my opinion, happens because an employee needed to fill space. I know Target has strict guidelines about which items go on which check-out pegs... but this practice is not fully enforced at all Target stores.
Will the ghost be discounted after the holiday? 95% positive it will. Will any be left after the holiday? My personal guess is that the ghost is soooo awesome (kind of like the Castle target practice was) that the numbers available will be limited this year, because the generic concept of the ghost will actually increase the random person into buying it as gifts.
Sorry this is so long, but if history repeats itself, we'll find holiday polys sometimes at the front of the store, and then after major discounts, some will show up again - next year - at regular price due to being misplaced in the stock room.
I didn't notice that the ghost poly lacks the peg-hole. The last few years, the Halloween offerings have had the peg holes. Not sure why, but I find this information exciting :)
Regarding the Target poly's, I have talked to workers there and know that normally the only ones that are stocked on the checklanes are only the DPCI that's tied to the checklanes. It is also an assortment DPCI so you will see many different set numbers up there depending on how fast your store goes thru those poly's. In stores where there's more sold you will see more and likely newer sets more often. I've seen this in action while shopping different Target's, the store I shop most often has the 30151 and a couple of the other City poly's while another nearby store still has the Star Wars 30051 in quantity but had no trace of the City sets the higher volume store has. I know folks that have worked there and also know that they can and do change DPCI's for items and can thus make any 'holiday' related sets into 'checklane' sets by changing an entry (or a couple of entries) in their database.......
I saw no trace of the new Ghost poly 30201 at either even though one of the stores had started getting Halloween setup and the other was still in pretty much full on school supply mode. I didn't have the DPCI with or I'd have tried to have someone check the stockroom for them. I haven't stopped trying as I want a few of these.
@little3piggies I had missed the fact that the 30151 is missing the hole for the peg hook, I hadn't noticed that some of the newer poly's are lacking said hole.
As for the ghost poly, all I can say is that I like it so much I might just buy one every time I visit Target. These are my first glow-in-the-dark Lego minifigures :) Loving them !
