Any idea when they are supposed to start stocking it?

Generally speaking, are the holiday polys usually with the toys or in the holiday section of the store?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ The polys are usually in the holiday section. They usually put the Halloween stuff out right around Labor Day weekend (this weekend).
  • norm103norm103 Member Posts: 301

The question - to buy a bunch at RRP and get what I need, or wait for 11-1, and hope to get them for $1 or 2 - like the Toy Story, City, Star Wars clearance they had earlier this year? Hmmmmm.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
^ I was wondering the same thing, except these polys I believe are in higher demand since they were once thought to be a Germany exclusive, so waiting till after Halloween and hoping they still have some left over could be a big gamble...
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@prevere at the stores round here they didn't discount the Easter polybags but just moved them to the checkout display. I remember other people saying their stores were the same.
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
Harry Potter lab sets and Police quad polys have not only been moved to checkout lanes but instead of the prices going down from $3.99 they've actually gone up to $4.29.
Think the days of getting polybags on the cheap from Target might either be over or harder to come by.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,419
That is nothing. Some Targets around me raised the polybag price to $5.29 each.
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
^ Was in my local Target tonight and they had 2 different City polys and 1 Star Wars poly in each checkout @ $4.29 ea. The Harry Potter potion poly was a LEGO end cap @ $5.29 each... really?

I got a 4 of 30201 from the Target in Dover , DE this morning. Took the DPCI with me. I nicely asked one of the staff with a gun. He went in the back and got the box of 50 they had. I'm going to keep one sealed , one to open , and the other two if the two kids that usually show up on Halloween show up again this year.
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
@psychopuppet so they had them in the back room and with that number (DPCI) you were able to snag some? How did you know they had them??
Wonder if it will work here...?
  • jamiewjamiew Member Posts: 165
    @psychpuppet,
What's your address so I can trick or treat at your house? Lol
  • ptericpteric Member Posts: 156
My target here in Rochester, NY has them out, I picked up 5 of the Ghost poly bags. They also had the friends poly bags out on the shelf. I have 3 Ghost poly bags for trade, looking for the Thor poly bag and the Coffin car poly bag if anyone wants to trade 1 for 1.
  • MilesMiles Member Posts: 51
Drove out to my local Target today in hope of scoring some polybags, but no luck. They had just started clearing space for the Halloween section; I need to remember for future reference that the Targets in the Inland Northwest are a bit behind when it comes to putting stuff out.

    Bah.
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
Picked up 10 #30201 today. They also had #30105 as well. I still had some of those left so let them sit. Anyone know whether any of the other polys will hit target as well? Wondering about #30151 and #30152.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
have none in my two target here, still see the City Police, Harry Potter Potion and the star wars , but one of the target has the 30151
  • ptericpteric Member Posts: 156
went to another local target and they also had the Monster Fighters Ghost poly and this one also had the Friends Desk #30102, the other Target had the Ghost and Friends Mailbox poly.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
None of my local Targets here in NC seem to have #30151 yet. One just had the #30201 and #30105. I have seen #30152 at TRU, which could mean that it is a TRU exclusive. If anyone wants to trade me any #30151, #30102, or #30103, I would be very interested. Trading multiple sets would help offset the shipping costs.
  • aimlesspursuitsaimlesspursuits Member Posts: 207
Local Target had Monster Fighter Ghost poly #30201 and Friends Skateboard poly #30101 in the Halloween aisle. Both were priced at $3.99.
  • Little3piggiesLittle3piggies Member Posts: 40
How funny, i guess each store gets the ghost & 1 of the 4 friends!
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
my TRU doesn't have the 30152 neither

Will be ditching work to see if my target has any. Anyone want to trade a ghost poly for a Harry Potter poly? (crosses fingers)
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
@MorkMan. Harry potter, the potion one?
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,419
@bsiu922, which part of the Bay Area are you in? I have not seen the dozer or ghost in San Jose yet.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
@Russell844, I haven't see the ghost yet. I m in East Bay near Hayward!
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
#30151 showed up at my Target today. They put the stick on hanger tabs on them and had them up front with the other ones. Would guess this means they wont be discounted after halloween.
  • Little3piggiesLittle3piggies Member Posts: 40
^ did u buy any? If so, do u have the dpci # off your receipt? TIA
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275

found the ghost poly and the friends car at my local Target on Sept 4th. As for @graphites question about the after-halloween discount. This is how Harry Potter went last year in my area:

Regular price until Nov 1st. Discounted down 15%, then 30%, then 50% over the next week or so. Then the H.P. poly (and the Ninjago glider poly) went to 90% off. Most polys were then purchased (I scored 60 of the glider! and about 20 of the H.P.)... but like all product, some were returned or later found in the storage room.

Target then has a specific date where they ship the unpurchased "holiday" items off to places like goodwill. They can gain an original price tax write-off for doing so.

For about a month (at the store near me), a few H.P. polys floated out of the back room, but the product was no longer in the Target database. Luckily, I had a receipt showing I purchased the product at 90% off, so the check-out clerks matched the price.

Then, mysteriously one day, these polybags were again added to the valentines lego offering in my area (about 10 of them), but their price was again in the $4-5 range. Also, these polys were not just found in the holiday section, but also near the check-out aisles. Placement near checkout aisles, in my opinion, happens because an employee needed to fill space. I know Target has strict guidelines about which items go on which check-out pegs... but this practice is not fully enforced at all Target stores.

Will the ghost be discounted after the holiday? 95% positive it will. Will any be left after the holiday? My personal guess is that the ghost is soooo awesome (kind of like the Castle target practice was) that the numbers available will be limited this year, because the generic concept of the ghost will actually increase the random person into buying it as gifts.

Sorry this is so long, but if history repeats itself, we'll find holiday polys sometimes at the front of the store, and then after major discounts, some will show up again - next year - at regular price due to being misplaced in the stock room.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
Unfortunately that dpci is not unique to the #30151 polybag.
  • Little3piggiesLittle3piggies Member Posts: 40
@krklint But, these recent polys don't have the peg hole, and the ghosts look too halloween-y, so i doubt they will make it to the pegs up front.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ that is why I mentioned it about the dozer one. My target put those stick on hangers on them and had them with the others. Pretty sure my target won't be discounting that one after Halloween. The ghost might be though and I hope it is.
  • Little3piggiesLittle3piggies Member Posts: 40
Oh you're right, i didn't catch that... Have yet to find the dozers so i was picturing the other city sets they have now with the hole already in it. Now i'll know what to look for!

    The goodwill sells Legos??

^ if someone donates they do. They don't last long though.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
People donate Lego to Goodwill. My feeling is that much of that doesn't get to the store. The volunteers or "pickers" get to it first. I could visit Goodwill every week and find lego there once or twice a year. This is my experience anyways.
  • FurrysaurusFurrysaurus Member Posts: 156
^^^ a buddy of mine who works at a local goodwill got a donation of a NIB #4762 Harry and the Merpeople. He was going to price it for $3.00 before I alerted him otherwise.
  • krklintkrklint Member Posts: 502
the Goodwill also has an online site. I've found Lego on there, but the prices are based on whatever the auction for the lot of lego goes for.

I didn't notice that the ghost poly lacks the peg-hole. The last few years, the Halloween offerings have had the peg holes. Not sure why, but I find this information exciting :)
  • BeardedCastleGuyBeardedCastleGuy Member Posts: 127
@krklint I've gotten the odd lot (or three) from Goodwill's online auction site, each local store has slightly varying policies regarding LEGO. Some will leave sealed boxes sealed, others will open them (still calling them NIB), others will just mix everything together and yet others will cherry pick the Minifig's and sell those separate. The end price will vary depending upon who has seen the lot and is willing to spend aka bid on it. I've rarely see anything online LEGO wise from the local Goodwill and NEVER see any sets in the stores I visit but don't visit often due to poor success rates in finding something I want there.

Regarding the Target poly's, I have talked to workers there and know that normally the only ones that are stocked on the checklanes are only the DPCI that's tied to the checklanes. It is also an assortment DPCI so you will see many different set numbers up there depending on how fast your store goes thru those poly's. In stores where there's more sold you will see more and likely newer sets more often. I've seen this in action while shopping different Target's, the store I shop most often has the 30151 and a couple of the other City poly's while another nearby store still has the Star Wars 30051 in quantity but had no trace of the City sets the higher volume store has. I know folks that have worked there and also know that they can and do change DPCI's for items and can thus make any 'holiday' related sets into 'checklane' sets by changing an entry (or a couple of entries) in their database.......

I saw no trace of the new Ghost poly 30201 at either even though one of the stores had started getting Halloween setup and the other was still in pretty much full on school supply mode. I didn't have the DPCI with or I'd have tried to have someone check the stockroom for them. I haven't stopped trying as I want a few of these.

@little3piggies I had missed the fact that the 30151 is missing the hole for the peg hook, I hadn't noticed that some of the newer poly's are lacking said hole.

EVERY target in my area shows up as having the Ghost polybag as "available" but I've checked a couple and they don't even have the Halloween section set up yet. Seen the Dozer set, but no Ghost, looks like I have to wait a couple more days.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I asked mine yesterday about the halloween section and they said they were working on it this week but the rest of the stuff would be in and out by Sunday 9/9.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
I've found it at one of the three I've checked. The halloween section wasn't completely set up but the polybag was out on an end cap at the back of the section, facing away from the aisle. There was also Stephanie's mailbox which I still have some of from Valentine's.
  • krklintkrklint Member Posts: 502
@BeardedCastleGuy, pretty much similar info that some manager friends of mine have shared. Also, I have around 3-4 Targets in my living/work area. I too have seen that the check-out peg stock changes often at some and rarely at others.

As for the ghost poly, all I can say is that I like it so much I might just buy one every time I visit Target. These are my first glow-in-the-dark Lego minifigures :) Loving them !
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
I can't believe that every single target in my area is stocked to the brim with #30013 police buggy and thats about it! Picked up quite a few ghost and friends polybags but I really like the Dozer. Starting to wonder if it is going to show up at all.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,694
I checked one of my Targets last night and the employee said they had them in back but would not bring them out. I checked another Target tonight and they had the ghost poly and a friends poly out so I got several of each.
  • BuriedinBricksBuriedinBricks Member Posts: 1,367
Success! The Target on Madison's east side has the Halloween section out and the ghost and skateboarder polys are stocked on an end cap.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
@iccarus. now you still need the dozer!
