Plate type...I assume there are three instruction books...
Cafe Corner has 2 instruction books and 2 16x32 green baseplates

Just received Diagon Alley in quite a bad state, so Im worried that some bags might be missing

    The box contains the following
    x5 number '1' bags
    x4 number '2' bags
    x7 number '3' bags

Can anyone please confirm that this is correct for this set?

Can someone please verify the amount of bags and other pieces (blue base plates and dark grey road pieces) that should be in the box for 10214 tower bridge?

Tower Bridge has 28 bags (not counting the smaller bags inside the bigger bags). The grey road plates and the blue water plates are loose in the box. Hope that helps.

It would be a really good idea if LEGO wrote how many books and bags there should be inside or on the back cover of instruction book 1. Most things whether flat pack furniture or multi-part toys come with an inventory you should look at before building - so why not Lego?

Red Cargo Train 3677 has quite a lot in the box:
1 bag of 6 instruction manuals and 1 leaf of stickers. With a piece of cardboard to keep them flat.

    7 numbered bags of lego.
1 bag with 16 flexible track pieces.
8 straight tracks in 2 stacks of 4.
16 corner tracks in 4 stacks of 4.
1 bag numbered 4581960 containing the receiver/direction switch (this is numbered 4566756 in the inventory).
1 small cardboard box numbered 4621120, containing a small bag of 8 drive wheels (4 for the engine and 4 spares), a bag of 4 magnetic connector buffers, the engine, a battery pack and a radio controller.
1 small bag containing a red cover for the battery pack, 8 x 4 studs, 3 and 3/4 bricks high.
1 small bag of 4 magnetic connector buffers.
1 brown rail truck tub, numbered 4631878 in the inventory.
1 black flatbed for the red engine, 28 x 6 studs.
    1 grey molded trailer, 34 x 6 studs
1 constructed conveyor belt. 16 x4 studs, 1 brick high.

Now to start building it..... :)
It is a short 2-3 hour build depending on how you concentrate. :)

Hubby just built this also, but the base plate for the engine was missing, and it just arrived today so he was able to finish it. He enjoyed this build and the fact that it looks more like an American train.

    9398 Crawler:
(7 bags of parts and electric parts in separate bags)

    - 3 bigger bags
    - 2 medium
    - 5 small
    - 3 with motors - every in separate bag
    - 1 battery box + IR
    - 1 pilot
    - 1 manual/sticker sheet

    * In bags with nr 1 (two of them) are additional two smaller bags - in each.
In big bag nr 2 there is one additional, smaller bag.

Hope somebody finds it helpful. :)

^ That would be good. Especially for sets that have loose sticker sheets, or a piece that is not in a bag. They could just use a picture showing, for example,

Please check the contents of your box before starting to build

    Instruction book 1 (this book)
    Instruction book 2
    Instruction book 3
    16x16 plate
    Bag 1 x1
    Bag 2 x1
    Bag 3 x2
    Bag 4 x1

I doubt they ever really make mistakes. But it is nice for a user to check that they have everything that should be there before starting to build. I've occasionally had a sticker sheet that has got caught in a flap and not noticed it.

I'm not sure this a good idea. I know of two different 7191s I've owned in the past that had a different number of bags inside the box, yet both complete. The Beetle I recently built had two more bags than TLG told me it should have, yet I didn't have any more than the usual number of pieces left over. I questioned the bag inside a bag scenario with them but they said no it wasn't that. They said it was probably down to a change in the production run.

To me it is clear that they change the process at some point during its production period, possibly because they have found a more efficient way of pack those particular pieces. To document that fact on the back of an instruction manual would cause chaos ie. an old stock of manuals packed with newly collated boxes of bags.

Can anyone veryify how many bags are in the Tantive IV 10198? I recently bought one cheap. It is definitely missing at least one bag but I would like to know how many before I can determine the parts I'll need.

    Thanks

w.r.t. identifying the number/quantity of bags in the set in the manual...

If the configuration of the bags/parts is subject to change, and putting specifics in the manual won't work, how about they provide a custom URI to a page on their site instead? That way, ordering a missing part/bag could subsequently be made easier (via specialized links, etc) and in cases where text explanations are required, can be multilingual without any printed overhead.

    Just a thought...

@turtle1173 - Mine is not a sealed box either, but I counted 15 sealed bags in my #10198.
  • turtle1173turtle1173 Member Posts: 230
Thanks @BrickDancer - I'm afraid mine hasn't worked out so well. Mine only has 9 bags :-( I spent about 4 hours today going through and comparing the sealed bags I have with a detailed review on Eurobricks. I think I'm going to scrap the idea of getting the additional pieces. I keyed it all in to bricklink today and I'm missing almost 650+ pieces. By the time I go through all the work to piece the rest together, I could just buy one for about the same cost.

So, what about the instructions books?
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^The number of instruction books aren't usually stated either. So just thought I'd add that bit, since they vary quite a bit from set to set.

Can someone confirm the contents of 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop? I counted 8 bags and 1 instruction book.
  • JBricks27JBricks27 Member Posts: 678
And as a general suggestion, how about adding the contents to the database for each item?

Just got 2507 Fire temple and saw in the book bags 1-7 which is not many for 1100pc set. However, there's 10 in total,1 of each of 1,2 4,6 and 7 and then 2 of bag 3 and 2 of bag 5 as well as a bag containing the dragon head and jaw. Also, no loose parts

3 books and no stickers which I was really surprised at. I expected the windows to be stickered but no. Instructions not in a poly with card - mine were slightly curled.
