Feel like I may not be alone with this :)

Luckily, had a free shipping offer to boot!

Yeah, the Free shipping was a nice touch.. I wasn't expecting that...

Did anyone know free shipping was coming? I didn't see it anywhere, had no idea...

Smart to have it, I would not have bought HH without it. Also bought a number of other smaller items like the new pencil cup holder and Lloyd ZX keychain, because of free shipping.

Total of about $400, thanks to "free" shipping. Are you listening Lego? :) I only buy online when I get free shipping!

^ They might be on the route of Amazon and offering free shipping with xx amount spent on the site.

I say that because select VIP members are receiving free shipping deals with different amounts of money needed to be spent. Some have received $49 while others at $99.

    Testing the market. :)

I personally think $49 is a good choice, it isn't really that hard to spend $50. ;-)

^ While I agree that $49 is nice... $99 or $75 is more likely.

Lego doesn't get the same low cost of fulfillment that Amazon enjoys, and thus needs to sell more in a single sale to make up for "free" shipping, which of course isn't free.

The other problem they have is that they don't double up on the free polybags... I actually placed two orders tonight, one for $88, the second for $192 for the HH. Why? To get a pair of free polybags. But now [email protected] has to process two orders, pick and pack two orders, ship two orders.

This increases their cost more than simply adding a second free polybag in when you spend over $150.

I rarely read the monthly newsletter, as I get most news ahead of time here. Checking back earlier today I had stuff in my cart ready and the free shipping was there. Checked the newsletter and it had been there all along, stating' for some selected VIP only'. I was psyched and this saved me a trip!

    @legofantexas - did the same, 2 orders, a shame!

$75 bucks is good too, but not that great when you're buying smaller sets.

Has anyone been able to double up on promo materials in a LEGO store?

    ^ Yes.

Haunted House ordered... the free shipping & zombie car made it even sweeter. I'm not the only one staying up late to order it I see.

I'm NOT logged into [email protected] but I did make it to the checkout page and I got free shipping. So maybe everyone gets free shipping. I didn't go through the link on the Brickset home page either. Relax, I didn't order it....yet.

^ Oh, free shipping is for everyone until the 21st.

I was talking about VIP shipping since LFT mentioned "Total of about $400, thanks to "free" shipping. Are you listening Lego? :) I only buy online when I get free shipping!"

    Apologies for the misunderstanding.

It would certainly make more sense to offer that incentive of keeping everything in one order. The polybags don't cost them very much to make, and it does drive sales. But they are also limited in what can go into the boxes, and have to ship multiples anyways, at least with big sets..

If you buy from the retail store, they will "sometimes" give you multiple polysbags for each $75 you spend, if you ask nicely.

Is this set really a Lego store exclusive, or will it be available through other retailers like Amazon/Toysrus?

Almost all sets end up at TRU and Amazon at some point... Will this one? Probably... Will it before Christmas? Maybe...

Sopwith Camel just came available on ToysRUs.com, and it was released at [email protected] on June 1. So, Haunted House could surface at TRU in December.

Look for the 10% off coupon on the back of the Fall 2012 catalog. Good 9/4 - 9/30 off one item (that will be 10228 for me).

I put in a order yesterday and paid shipping, and the next day they have free shipping. I can't win...

I saw the haunted house in the Lego store and really like the color scheme. However, it does seem a bit overpriced to me.

Did you already receive your Fall 2012 catalog?

Yes it was in the mail today, Haunted House displayed prominently on the front!

  • JBricks27JBricks27 Member Posts: 678
    Is that a US catalog?
  • Penkid11Penkid11 Member Posts: 788
^Indeed . Recieved mine today as well.
  • JBricks27JBricks27 Member Posts: 678
How does the catalog system work? If you request a catalog once, do you continue to get sent new issues? Do they send them to all VIP members?
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
^ I haven't been receiving my catalogs and magazines lately. I've emailed them and called them about 5 or 6 times, and still they don't show up.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
^ it's supposed to be sign up once and keep getting them. We missed out on the last one but one came today with the club magazine.
  • Penkid11Penkid11 Member Posts: 788
    ^still waiting on the club
Magazine. Not to excited though as this isn't the one with all the 2013 previews in it.
  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405
@jenni - Got a few club magazines today, but no catalog. Hope it shows on Tuesday.
  • llanowarsoldierllanowarsoldier Member Posts: 357
Yeah, no catalog here either...yet. Sort of weird since I have a Lego store 10miles away from me.

I keep having to manually request a new catalogue, despite signing up on multiple occasions. I actually requested one early last week and it turned up on Friday but was disappointed that it was the old catalogue... so I picked up a new one on Saturday at the AFOL morning.

Anybody know how much shipping would normally cost in Canada for the HH? I'm trying to figure out when to order it. But now since shipping is free, I can't tell the regular price.

    Thanks
    Billy
