    Any thoughts on 8547 NXT 2.0? Heard from 3-4 sources its going to EOL in next 2 months and heard a new version or add-on is coming out March 2013. Any news on this?

    Also what looks like the best time to buy the following:

    2509 Earth Dragon Defense
    3182 Airport
    3661 Bank and Money Transfer
    4195 Queen Annes Revenge
    4184 Black Pearl
    4438 Robbers Hideout
    4644 Marina
    4645 Harbor
    8043 Motorized Excavator
    The Pet Shop

    The limited release was from a manufacturing shortfall, so after this year, I would assume next Christmas won't have a shortage. In that case if you can get your hands on some, you may have a market to sell them at a profit this year. Also to your advantage, they aren't available anywhere online. So if somebody who wants one who can't get to a store they will probably pay more online. I personally am 600 miles from the nearest Lego store, so I don't have a hope of getting one at regular price.

    If I was closer to a store, I would be buying up a stack and listing them online.

    I have a somewhat reliable source who tells me there is one more year before the NXT 2.0 replacement is rolled out.

    This. They're supposed to be back in stores come October, from what I've been told.

    NXT 2.0 was in the Lego store tonight, saw a nice big stack of them, so they aren't gone yet.

    Noticed Friends' Olivia's House is out of stock at S@H.

    The biggest of the 1st wave of Friends, and kind-of-a-modular, I would think this one could be a really good aftermarket set after it's EOL'd.

    I am on the fence about Friends doing well after it's EOL'd. The sets are mainly for girls and I don't think parents are going to be looking for retired sets to buy for their girls. As LFT says "Of course, I could be wrong" :)

    If Olivia's House was completely made from individual bricks, I could see it as a good parts set...but it's not.

    Seriously, I think this one will do very well EOL, probably double RRP next Christmas (but you'll have to wait 1 year to get it).

    If it ever goes on sale, that is the time to get them. Thing is, I can't recall EVER seeing this one on sale, not even on Amazon. I think it sells very well.

    Yup, it is near impossible to know what a 12 year old girl will want if your an adult male. Heck, I don't know what adult women want. :-) I think we all lean toward sets we like ourselves and dismiss sets we don't personally care for. But, how close do our LEGO 'tastes' match those of other people? That's the tough part and where this forum helps.

    Minecraft is a good example. I was familiar with the game, but had never played it. To be honest I thought the set would do well because it was CUUSOO, but beyond that... meh. I didn't think there were that many Minecraft players that also enjoyed LEGOS. Well, I was completely wrong. I missed the opportunity to buy Minecraft on S@H for $35, but did snag 5 at TRU for $40 after it was a hit.

    Speaking of sets that we like ourselves. I really like set 9393 Technic Tractor. I like the color, the Bush Hog on the back, the fact that it steers and the Bush Hog works. A really neat set for $40. I like to think it will do well after it is retired, but it's a relatively low cost Technic set, so have my doubts. Also, not sure, but think it may be a TRU exclusive.

    Now, if they continued the tractor theme and had slightly different tractors in different colors (red, blue, dark green) and with different attachments. Man, that would be awesome and could become a collectible series. Or, had add-on attachments sold separately! Cha-Ching

    ^ Lego has done a number of Tractors in Technic in the past few years. Some of them are reasonable in price, others are quite expensive, hard to tell what is going to do well in Technic. :)

    Yeah, that's what I mean. Olivia's house sells well now because it is in stores and I usually see the Friends sets in the Barbie isle. Once it's gone who knows how it will do. I certainly don't. I do know that, as a male, the sets do not appeal to me. So, I figure the only people that will be looking for this set on EBay are parents that want to get this set for their girls or maybe female AFOL's. It's.a small market compared to boys.

    ...I personally don't buy sets to resell unless they have mass appeal. Star Wars and most licensed themes have mass appeal. Modular Buildings, Pirate Ships and Castles have mass appeal and staying power. I do not own 1 Technic set.

    I've got an AFOL buddy with a 6-month-old girl at home. I've been buying some of the Friends series on his behalf for when she turns 4.

    ^ I understand someone staying within their comfort zone. So, I understand not buying Technic. But, certain Technic sets have done quite well in the after market. Just check the price of the 8265 Motorized Dozer or the 8265 Frontend Loader (a relatively recent set that they made very few of). I see the Motorized Excavator going the same way as the Dozer. No one outside of LEGO knows, and probably few inside LEGO, but I don't think they produce as many of the big Technic sets as they do, say of the Modulars. I think that benefits the after market seller. I think the Unimog will do extremely well in the after market too.

    I thought so, was on my way home from holiday and found them in Preston Toysrus - there were loads more but I only got one of each. Also lots of 2507 fire temple at £79

    ^ I remember leaving a lot of fire temples on the shelf at John Lewis at £25 each. I did buy two, but I was laden down with shopping and the boxes are big! Amazing parts pack for £25. Part out value must be high, although I dont have a bricklink store, so wouldn't know.

    You found them in a store, now? Wow, that is unusual.

    What city? I would have bought every single 2521 on the shelf. Maybe or maybe not on the 8404 sets, those are slower sellers.

    2507 for 25£? That is a steal, I would have bought every one of those as well, even if the set still isn't retired, it will do well once it is.

    Good to know... What country? These disappeared in the US before last Christmas ended AFAIK, so I'm surprised they still exist anywhere. But you never know. :)

    Not quite. My Lego Store had them along with the Skull Truck until around mid-July. My Local TRU still has them but at TRU prices :( Never seen a sale on any of these accept for the practically worthless usual.

    Shocked as well to see the Lightning Dragon in stores. I'm in OH, and haven't seen any in a very, very long time. And 25£ for a temple is crazy - kudos! What is that priced at at TRU these days - $120?

    The Skull Truck is still in my local Lego store, and Amazon has thousands of them. That one isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. Shame, because it is actually a really cool model.

    As for Lightning Dragon, you're saying a US Lego store had those up until a month ago? I believe you, but find it hard to imagine, resellers should have long since bought them all. I would have, had I seen them, even at full retail price.

    That set will sell for $150-$200 this Christmas I believe.

    Around $130. Believe it or not, $120 is its MSRP price

    What do you folks think about the Master Builder Academy kits, especially 7-9? They are interesting designs and wonder if there is long-term interest amongst fans.

    Just an FYI...take it for what it's worth:

    Visited our local B&M store today and the gentleman stated that they won't be getting any more HP sets in. I would be surprised to see the Castle go, but I guess it's possible. It's amazing how many sets are currently available from TLG; I don't see how they can manage. I do know that the shelves were fully stocked and there were still many sets that weren't being displayed.

    Still not sure about the 2506 Skull Truck, available in UK for £19 / 59% off, seems like a bargain for 515 pieces / 4 figs, but I still can't seem to pull the trigger......

    That's what people said about the 2260 Ice Dragon at $15 in Wal-Mart last winter. Just saying. I have bought zero of the Skull Truck myself.

    Both are gone from the smaller dealer lists... I just tried to order more #8043 and was told TLG was no longer accepting orders for that item. Same thing with #4184

    What S&H has left is all that is left, so they remain in the wild. I was simply saying, for anyone who wanted either, now is the time to buy, they will start getting hard to find as Christmas approaches.

    ^ I don't have many either, only 20 copies... I had planned to have 50 copies, but was shocked that it fell off the list so early.

    I might pickup 10 more copies at a higher price at some point before Christmas, haven't decided yet. So many things to buy, so little money. :)

    Yea, seems odd to me as well, QAR has been out longer... assuming this isn't an error, BP should do really well having been out less than a year...
