Simply amazing @pricey73! Received my GB figs today and showed my gf your wife's display case. She loved it and we're gonna take a shot at making one ourselves. Great job again!

    @LegobrandonCP and @BrickDancer
Thanks very much, please feel free to have a go at building, if possible, your both going to have to post pictures to let me know how you've got on.
I did manage to drop it the other night after taking the photos. Needless to say I did turn the air blue somewhat!
The rings and display case will be going on display in the Liverpool Lego shop through August in the LUG showcase, so if your in the area?

My Lego Super Heroes collection in the Ikea frame mentioned previously with an extra large base taped to the backing. The mat and glass pane are behind the frame for future use when this project is complete

Wow impressive Superheroes collection. All the SDCC promo figs plus the new Spiderman figs too? Extra nice. Also good is that you have extra space for rows on top and bottom as the lineup grows.
  • vwong19vwong19 Member Posts: 1,191
Thanks @BrickDancer its rare that I have all the figures on display since my son is always borrowing them for play. Maybe if the lines gets big enough I will split Marvel and DC.

I love my Comic Con Batman so much I thought he deserved a special display case all for himself. Using a small shadow box from Michael's for $5 and loose bricks from inventory.

Thanks ^,^^,^^^ guys! All Lego built inside, including the sticker I used from Batwing Battle. It was so cheap and well sized for the card, I'm thinking about doing more. Felt the black grid supports and fences fit the Batman look. For Green Lantern I was thinking about mixing in lots of trans green.

Ikea UK have a sale on the ribba frames, I got the 23x23 cm for £4.25 yesterday and the 52x52 has been reduced to £12
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
    The 23 x 23 has always been at around £4.25? Or 5.25?

But the 52 x 52 sounds a great deal, but its only nice if you have bricks to build the stand inside the frame. And you must have the amount of mini figs too!

    Many series 1 - 7?
  • maybertsmayberts Member Posts: 68
the Black ones have always been 4.25 but the white ones have been reduced.

I want to see if I can fit 16 minifigs in the 23x23 frame.

Yeah you can. You can fit maximum of 24 in a 23x23. See my pictures to see them, a few pages before.

If you can spray each one to the series colour will be great too!
  • maybertsmayberts Member Posts: 68
Cool, good idea about spraying them, I'll go to B&Q tonight to try and colour match :)
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Remember to get the right colour bricks too!
    Series 3s green bricks!
  • maybertsmayberts Member Posts: 68
I think I may use this paint, should be able to get a close match

    Maybe try ones from Wilkinson.

@GreekMick Finally got our GB Olympic minifigs displayed, it's not as fancy as some of the creative folks here did, but this has a clear case that fits on it, intended to display an American football, so they will be reasonably dust free. Sorry about the glare on the faces, it was the best I could do with the light and camera I have to work with.

@AFFOL_Shellz_Bellz loving the display. I think the archery, relay and weightlighting will be the only sports we will not win a medal. Not bad for a little island!

It took a little longer than i thought and a little more effort than i thought but finally got the Olympic Mini-figs set my daughter and I collected mounted and framed along with our tickets from the beach vollyball (the third one is for my son, but a 1 it might be a while before he gets it :) ).
The mounting is my own slightly shaky work, rows of 3X2 bricks down the side in the union jack colours all squeezed into a B&Q ribba frame including the glass at the front (saves on dusting). the only rule was no glue so there is a fair amount of tape holding things in place.
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
@monkey_roo, first of all, a very nice job!

And you mean a IKEA Ribba Frame? :o
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
@chanMcl - no B&Q, haven't got an Ikea near me so picked these up when I popped in to the DIY place for some bath sealant and paint last weekend.
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Ah.. Because "Ribba" is only at IKEA.

How much are those frame costs? Thanks.
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
£8.99 each so not the end of the world. The mounting was £18 and I was able to cut a template and all three actuall mountings for that and about 100 bricks each. I think the total is about £25ish per finished job.
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
Totally worth it to be honest for a nice piece of display.

*Whispers, better than having a street of £1000 on your table ;)
    But that's also beautiful!

My costed about £8 to make.

I ordered some of these about 2-3 weeks ago and just got them in the mail today. I would highly recommend them. The inter-locking system works like a charm, and the figures look great in them.

Close to 2000, but they are all unique and as shipped by lego. i have 6 or 7 thousand others that duplicate these or aren't exactly as lego originally released, plus a ton of customs.

Do you have a better picture of this display anywhere so we can see what it looks like?

Are you wanting images of the actual stands? or the display of figs? the stands a re just a plywood frame with black cloth covers. i can post picks of them later this afternoon. very cheap and easy to build.

Ive filled my frame with 1-8 series CMF.
If I have to do another with the release of a series 9 I would do it in white, as I think it shows the figures off much better.
(it does normally have glass in the front-no good for taking pics!)image

I wonder if a lightish grey (30%) background would be better than black or white. It would show off both black and white figures better. The rest (except the zombie, classic alien, the clockwork robot, and the odd torso / legs) are bright enough to show up against it. The downside, of course, is that it is grey.

The other option would be to try a mirror for a background. Like the old style antique cabinets, so you can see the backs as well as the fronts.

Of course it may also depend on if you want it to match with any existing decor in your house, and what room it will be in.? I did contemplate doing 8 separate small boxes with the back boards spray painted with each series colour, Its finding the best place in the house for them.... maybe up the stair case??
Mirror backs would be a good option if you could get the correct size.

I'm gonna try my own version of that frame as well. Will try tomorrow to search some frames to handle 5 series at once. I just don't know yet how I will handle the rows for each series.
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
Most of the displays i've seen here (and on other forums) have the figures displayed including their very own accessoire/weapon,since i'm mostly gonna display SW figures i feel that the different weapons somehow destroy the display"flow"! Yeah the figures look different on their own but i would like to allign them all in the same postition(arm, leg, head)so i feel it's interrupting if some have a lightsaber, some a riffle and some have none!
    What do you think?
  • ChanMcLChanMcL Member Posts: 1,224
    ^ what about capes??

That is not a bad idea actually. I will give it a try when I have time!
  • littletokilittletoki Member Posts: 519
I try to keep all the weapons in the same hand and angled in the same direction. Makes it a little less chaotic.

Here's my first attempt on displaying my minifigures. It cost around 6€ and it took me about 3 to 4 hours to make. Quite quicker than I expect.

1 White IKEA Ribba Frame (23x23x4.5 cm)
1 White paper card (cut to fit 23x23 cm)
    9 Lego plates 2x3

(forgot to take pics from the last part while adding the white paper card)

Sorry if i posted in the wrong category but I figured I ask about my new display cases in this category since they are part of my collection.

I wanted to know if doing this is worth doing in you opinion. Cool? Is my avengers case worth using for other super heroes themes?

@BrickDancer: awesome work!!! How do you attached the figures cardboard to the frame paperback? I would also love to frame some of my exclusives but i'm scared that the cardboard will take damage when attache them to a frame!
