[US] TRU coupons 8/12 - 8/18

TRU has a $15 off $50 or more coupon in its weekly circular. Doesn't seem to be limited to certain LEGO, but as usual barely offsets their markups. Still, for the "hard to find" sets it amounts to 10% off on the modulars which isn't too shabby. Even more off MMV.

In addition, they sent a flat $5 off any in store purchase coupon. Could be useful on a smaller set.

Finally, they are still offering a free CMF with LEGO purchase.

As always, YMMV with LEGO but thought I would mention to those who could be interested.

    Thanks, I finally picked up a MMV set. At $85 this is a great value for the piece count.

    I'm going to do the same soon. I just did some creative buying to get free shipping and the $15 off. My order came to $50.98. Just over the $49 for free shipping and $15 off.

    So how do you get the free shipping? I have a few sets in my cart and the amount is over $50 but shipping costs are still being added.

    ^^^ Coupon can only be used once (per account)
    ^ it came up automatically for me, as soon as my order total reached $49 (after the $15 coupon)

    It has to be over $49 to get free shipping.

    Nevermind. I see that it deducts the coupon before applying the free shipping.

    Got a pretty good deal I think. 11 exclusive polys + $15 set + free S5 minifig = total order of $52.89 before tax with free shipping.

    Coupon can be reused for "anonymous" check-out. I did a 2nd order using my paypal account instead of existing TRU account (no TRU rewards, but anyway was too far from the next tier...)

    I'm thinking of buying the Fire Brigade and Pet shop. I was wondering if you are allowed to return sets in-store that was ordered online? Just in case. You know TRU packaging. ;)

    I was able to return a couple banged up Avenger sets for exchange but I don't think many Toys R Us stores carry big sets like the modulars (at least not that I have seen).

    I think that you can return them in store but you will only get in store credit back. Kind of like TRU getting your money one way or the other.

    Apparently you need a rewards card to use the $5 coupon. Had a Frodo in hand, but left empty handed.

    My friend who is about to be promoted to TRU district manager said that Corporate released too many coupons and promotions at once and "overloaded the system"

    I returned a Grand Emporium a few months back and was able to get the charge credited back to my credit card.

    I went in store tues afternoon w/ my 3 kids, 2 had unique coupons & the 3rd had the coupon on my phone, all 3 did separate transactions and no rewards card and no problems. Maybe the polybag didn't work because it had to be $5 before tax. Also, if you get the free app Shopkick, there is yet another unique $5 coupon...

    Not sure, as the 1 i used on my phone was from the toys r us text link (same code as when u just go to toys r us on your phone browser). Havent tried to combine w/ any other coupons. But the shopkick coupon is still unique to the phone browser coupon..

    I was able to use both the $15 and the $5 coupons at the same time in store. Picked up the City of Atlantis for $36 and got a free Series 8 minifig.

    The Toysrus site cancelled my order and said none were in stock at my store. So I print out a coupon and go down there and they have like 15 Y-Wing sets! So I just bought it that way for $39.99. Don't know what the Toysrus' site problem is...?

    That explains it! I was wondering about why the 20% was not applying to Lego.
    I specifically had looked for Lego on there, and it definitely was not listed before, and it definitely is listed now.

    I printed off the $5 off coupon on every computer I have (this is when keeping the old ones pay off). Got Frodo, Bytar, Lizaru, and Jay ZX for a bit over $3 total.

    how's the TRU tax by everyone these days?? I was in a local TRU, and they had jabba's palace marked up to 161.99

    @sidersdd TRU didn't like that people were showing up with multiple valid copies of the $5 deal and shut it down.

    I got lucky and popped into TRU with one and a $5 rewards coupon that I got to apply toward a needed LoR set and a free Series 6 CMF for 50% off retail...

    They did expire the 16th. Went in last night for a couple of minifigures. $3.49 each???? Since when? lol! Still a good deal @ $2.10 with the coupon.

    My goodness. What a list of exclusions. There is a banner on the main TRU page for 20% off a regularly priced toy purchase of $100+. I thought I might pick up some LEGOS until I read the list of exclusions. Good gravy!

    ^yea but all the in store items are marked up more than 20%...the only things worth buying are the exclusives on the website (modulars, etc)

    A couple weeks ago with the last 20% coupon, my local store let me get the new Technic Crawler. That was nice for $160 plus tax.

    I received another coupon today, so we'll see how that works out tomorrow. Although I don't know what I can find for close to MSRP this time.
