^^ I have seen a picture posted on here of one stuck to a wall, but no idea in which thread?

    @luckyruss - I wouldn't risk it but here is a video showing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vQjwC9ofJE

I felt a little nauseous watching him swing the MF away from the wall...

Be careful wall-mounting the Millennium Falcon. It might eventually detach and float away with the rest of the garbage...

Lego is a business, their main focus is to make money, they are not collectors or re-sellers. From a business standpoint, it would be smart business to reproduce the UCS MF as soon as possible. There are tons of people collecting lego and just buying to set aside to re sell later, you also have the new movie on the horizon which I'm sure will include the MF. If Lego wants to make a lot of money quick, they would remake it.

^You mean like how they did with the UCS X-Wing? Money-grubbing rubbish.

Thats IF it looks a little outdated in another 5 years time, which i cant see happening although it might depending on how much more advanced lego parts start getting.

Same thing happens with cars, especially sports cars, when theyre first released you think oh yeah thatll never look old, then as each new model comes out the previous gets more and more dated.

Well technically the new UCS X-Wing is Red Leader and not Luke's...so I guess you could say it is not a remake. I guess they could do another UCS Falcon with Lando as pilot but I don't know if that would fly with collectors....but you are correct it is all money-grubbing rubbish....maybe once the new Chinese factories are all online they can pump out 5k pieces on the cheap....can't wait for my translucent bley UCS falcon lol.

Considering this set just disappeared off the shelves in 2010, I don't think we will see it anytime soon.

I don't think they would ever re-release it and stress the fact that "Hey this is exactly the same 10179, same model number, same amount of parts, same 60 lbg levers, same box, etc.".

It would have to be an Episode VII version of the Falcon, with "old" Han & Luke minifigs.. And they would be two different items in the eye of any collector.

Similar to the new X-Wing which is a slightly different design of the old one...

For those questioning the idea of having the MF on wall, I have to say that there is no risk at all.. I have it on my wall for almost a year and is very stable. I have to say that it looks much much better than having it on a flat table..

^ Cool printing on the torso but a rifle would have been better than a hood that doesn't match.

Great printing on the torso, but I do not remember seeing a bright yellow hood in the movie. Is that one of the "enhancements" George Lucas put in the Blu-Ray edition of ESB ? :P

Since it is not a chrome figure, it should have come with a Taun Taun

I expected worse actually, so this is a pleasant surprise. A kind of reference to the age old Star Wars action figure debate between the dark blue Han Solo Echo Base coat and the brown one.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
Hmm, I was expecting more I guess. The majority of all the CMFs are more impressive than this.

Wasn't he in blue in ESB? My kenner figure used to be blue.

The brown coat only had the yellow/brown fur inside, the actual outside material matched the coat, so having the hood a uniform yellow looks odd imo, especially when they have already made Parker hoods with just the trim a yellow/cream colour.

Anyone actually excited for this? I at least expect the promotional minifigure to be halfway decent so I could get sets at a discount by selling it.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
I really hope that's just a promotional shot, because I was pretty excited for this figure prior to that image. The hood is one thing... but why are his sleeves (and his sides, it seems) blue?
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
EDIT: Upon zooming in more closely, it looks like the sleeves and sides are actually correct. The hood should still be that same dark brown, though, and not tan-ish.

Wow - you guys are a tough crowd to please. I think some would be bitching and moaning even if this was a) free and b) made out of pure gold.

I think many here keepforgetting that lego in no way has to run these promotions.

I'm actually quite excited to see a freebie Han (I'm just hoping the hood shown is a 'placeholder' piece, though I feel it isn't). I'll certainly be picking one up for myself and probably a few to set back. Should wind up being worth well more than TC-14 down the road (unless they duplicate him in a set, of course).

They do it to make money, if people like the promo they buy more. Don't forget who the customer is.

Can't see it being a placeholder, the pic looks like it is a actual polybag

I'm a little surprised by the general reaction here, as this is really the best May the 4th poly they've done since chrome C-3PO. Hopefully there'll be a nice sale or two to accompany it.

It goes both ways. I had planned and waited for the May 4th minifigure before buying quite a few sets on my want list, but will pass for a better deal elsewhere. Only picking up the new X-Wing this time around.

Feel free to pick up a few more sets in appreciation.

Brown jacket Han is a nice nod to the fanboy debate about those scenes. I'm just not that excited as I would be if it were a new unique character. Glad it's OT

^I'm not even sure where the idea of the blue coat came from, to be honest. Likely a Kenner action figure back in the day.

Then again, I'm not clear on how you can 'debate' something that has a 100% correct answer, either...
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
I think playing for many years with the blue Kenner figure back in the 80s might have had an effect....
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
I was too young for the original Star Wars action figures, so the only iteration I've seen with the blue coat (that I recall, anyway) is the various LEGO minifigs.
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
FBTB have another image, which seems to suggest that the hood is indeed (thankfully) gong to be the same shade of brown as the coat: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8505/8600057475_462dd712d7.jpg. He also appears to have an alternate expression.

Everyone has an opinion, but I just think this fig looks no different than any fig you'd find in any generic star wars set (though I will admit the pics with the goggles make it look much better). Take the A-Wing #75003 for example, would we be oohing and aahing over that fig if it were put in an oversized polybag and given to us with a $75 purchase on 5/4?

Rare does not equate to awesome.

I agree with this quote from FBTB:
The figure would go extremely well with 75014 Battle of Hoth and because of that I can't help but feel a little cheated. Hoth Han should have been included with 75014 either as an additional figure or a substitution for one of the Hoth Rebel Troopers. Chrome C-3PO, Chrome Stormtrooper, Chrome Darth Vader, White Boba Fett, Shadow ARF Trooper, Shirtless Maul, Chrome TC-14 all have been previous promotional figures. And it's always been my impression that promotional figures are unique enough to not be included in a normal retail-released set. Hoth Han flies against the face of that logic since the planet Hoth is one of the major themes that is repeated regularly with LEGO's product release cycles. Also, in case you missed it, 75014 is available right now. The Star Wars universe is vast enough to draw inspiration from for these specialty, one-off figures. The Cantina scene alone from Episode IV has plenty of characters to last a decade or more. Just throwing this out there, but how about a freakin' Bothan? Anyways, Hoth Han is a beautiful figure no doubt, but it's not hit-it-out-of-the-park great, maybe more like a ground rule double. All we need now is a re-tooled Tauntaun with minifig storage compartment in it's belly and then everyone can reenact the "Beeennn.... Bennnnn... Dagobahhhhhhh..." scene.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
And I will admit to making multiple orders in the past to get several figures but this time I will probably only get one... might even be more worth my while to buy him on Ebay.

Chrome C-3PO wasn't a May 4th giveaway. I think this an interesting minifig that I'll be compelled to get a couple of somehow.

    ^Maybe.

Maybe TLG hates how the aftermarket prices turned out from other promotions so they decided to throw out a lame figure that will definitely not skyrocket after release?! ;)
