While I doubt it, could PF be on its way out?

As I say, I highly doubt it, but there is a discussion currently going on Eurobricks were a member reports being told that it is possible that PF are being phased out. This was apparently reported by a Lego Brand store employee. Here is the link http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=56578 .

I can't believe that TLG would sink all the money into the integration process only to discontinue the parts two years later. I also would question where they think they could go with trains that would not be a regression to a previous system.

Has anyone heard any rumors? Just wondering.

Weird..... I mean you are correct, to invest so much into PF then change it or flat out drop it is insane.. You have to remember the source though.. meaning that it is not a Lego Company statement (not disparaging other AFOLs here).. I mean Store employees can say weird things, and could be saying it to drive sales.. unless it is a 'reputable' employee at a store (which does happen) not to mention anyone can say a store employee told them this or that... interesting though...

The store employees are remarkable uninformed ... they are the (alleged) source of a lot of wrong info. When I say 'uninformed', it isn't meant as a criticism of them, just to note that Lego corporate typically don't share much info with the store staff.

Like you say, it would be a very strange decision, and I doubt it very much when theyve just invested so much in moving everything over.

^^Here, here, I wouldn't put much stock in what a LEGO store employee has to say about upcoming products or direction of TLG.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is PF?

Same here... Now I'm quite curious. Could it possibly be Power Functions?

yes, power functions. And I completely agree with bluemoose. Its not a knock on the employee but just because you work at a company does not mean you know the inner workings. Thats like saying Wal Mart employees know wal marts strategies and upcoming ideas. I dont see any benefit to changing a system that works well. I could see maybe upgrading the system somehow. Maybe so you still use pf but can add to it to add playability or functions it doesnt have.
