My Lego City Layout Project

Hi All,

Recently decided to get back into Lego in a big way and have been working on my City-themed layout. Please watch my video and let me know what you think.

Ah smog and fuel shortages must be apparent in your city. All the vehicles are trucks!

It'll be nice when my wife and I sign our mortgage shortly and can remodel the attic for my oldest and I ( he is 5). He is bugging me to do this.

Haha, well I do have plenty of cars but I decided I much prefer the 6-stud vehicles over the 4-stud, so have just stuck with the 6ers for now.

Should have had the train running in your video.

Looks like you could set up your airport on the outskirts of town and have the train go to it. Also you can hang helicopters/aircraft from the ceiling.

Thought about plonking the airport in somewhere, but to be realistic I need a runway. Perhaps it can be imaginary for now if I can squeeze the terminal in :)

This looks like a great start to me, for a few more large buildings to add perhaps this would be a good thread to check out: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/8300. They make great scenery and would add some nice height and density to your model I think. Good luck!

Nice work. I'm guessing you're a fellow kiwi, good to see a few of us on the forum! You've got a great collection of buildings, I love the gas station, I missed that one when it was available.

Yup, fellow Kiwi here :) I picked up the petrol station on Trademe. I subscribe to new listings emailed every day and all sorts of stuff comes through. A couple of my older sets I picked up on TM, brand new and boxed, that are no longer in stores.

Nice, yeah, I get some emails too, but its mostly overpriced. I did see a petrol station a while ago but it was missing the vehicles and figs. Ha, just noticed you've got NZ in your username, should've been a giveaway where you were from!

City's need buildings other then Police, Fire, and such. Banks, post office, houses, main street, and such. Using current Town themed sets, you won't get much of a town. Classic route is the only way to go for a town layout that looks nice. People say current is better then classic but I fail to see the variety these days.

If you are going with current sets, I wish you luck.
