10219 Maersk Train incorrect part

edited February 2013 in Building and Techniques
My son has just finished building 10219 and he was actually oddly a little distressed that he could not finish the locomotive properly as one piece was incorrect. There was one less of item 4277927 than there should have been, and there was one extra of another piece which is a little like it in design but not any help in the building. Here's some photos:

I can see how Lego accurately weighing bags won't have thrown this error up as the pieces both probably weigh the same. I'm sure I'll be able to get the correct peice when I get in touch with Lego, but I wondered if anyone else had spotted this. I imagine there's 100s, if not 1000s, of Maersk Trains waiting to be resold which could have the same packing mistake.

Hi, I made this very mistake. Check the engine front and I'll bet you that you/he put the wrong part on the front of the engine inside the compartment.
    Hope this resolves!

Just adding further info in case anyone searches this topic. Having looked at the code on one of the three out of four correct angle plates in the set the design ID is 44728. But on Lego's missing part page that matches with element ID 4277928 which is the dark stone grey angle plate of which there are 26 of in the set and none of those are missing. My missing part is lighter and I think it's the medium stone grey element ID 6009014 design ID 92411. Although as I say that differs to the code on the back of the piece. I'm a bit unsure which missing part to order as I think there's some fundamental mis-numbering going on. I'll order the one which looks right and if it's the correct bit then all well and good. If it's not I'll then order the other. It's actually not visible anyhow on the finshed engine, but I'd just like the right part really.

Hi Rich; thanks for taking time to read my problem. I have to admit I wasn't paying too close attention when he was building the engine. I see it's assembled of nine of the darker coloured angle plates. I've just looked and it seems right to me. I'll take the engine all apart and put it back together to be sure. It does appear to be easy with this set to put a piece in the wrong way and then still go on to finish with it looking ok but just not quite right. He is only four so it's certainly possible he made a mistake!

Having said that the part I took the photo of above isn't actually meant to be in the set at all and it definitely was in one of the bags. So something is wrong somewhere!
