Man of Steel 76002 images

richlrichl Member Posts: 246
I don't think these have been out before, but USA Today has a couple of images for 76002 here.

It's a bit disappointing, even for a cheap set - movie Superman, Zod, a tiny bit of roof with a flipping action and a horrible looking yellow buggy. But I'll still be getting it, like a sucker.

You and me both. It's Supes'! - I can't not get one. Or maybe several...

What is it with LEGO and catapults? It's like the new flick-fire/gimmick function for 2013. :P

Anyways, thank you so much for the link - you rock!

It looks like now is the time to get red-undies Superman (6862-2) if you prefer that look.

I think the set, for a small one, looks pretty good.

I was wondering whether they would go more movie accurate with the suit. The car is an odd choice, but I guess you need a vehicle in a set at this price point, even if the two characters have no need for one (ie they can fly).

Not an immediate buy, but looking forward to seeing more pictures come New York Toy Fair.

I just picked up my second the other day just to have one MIB. I do wonder if this - aside from the CK release w/ Batman movie - is the only comic version of Superman LEGO will release. I'd love to see more from the comic (read: non-movie) end of the verse' but I'm not sure that'll happen. I guess we'll see just how far and long these Superhero themes last...

And to think - when I first glanced at your post I thought you were recommending stocking up on red underwear...lol.

Another car, yippee. I know we're talking kids' toys here, but why, oh why is Lego so addicted to vehicles? With any licensed series, you can be sure they will produce any and all vehicles connected with that theme, no matter how obscure (see LOTR Corsairs ship, and ESPECIALLY star wars, where we really need some buildings for a change!). It seems the folks in Legoland live a nomadic existence, living out of their cars and helicopters with nowhere to lay their head; however, at least they can sleep soundly in a parking lot knowing that there's plenty of local law enforcement on patrol.

^ How true. To be fair, in a $12 set any structure is going to be pretty minimal. These are minifig sets first and foremost. Would be nice to see Lego release more sets like #5929.

Rather have this for $13 than a motorcycle.

Structures are very hard to do right at a price point people are willing to pay, especially in a licensed set. People have certain ideas in mind when it comes to the buildings or interiors of iconic movie scenes. If the set lacks enough detail or comes in at too high of a price point, it's just not going to sell very well.

TLG has been trying. The building in the latest Spider-man set is very well done for a $50 release and I have heard very few complaints about the new Arkham.

I would probably pay $5+ to get Lego minifigures on carded blister packs as collectibles. I can't complain about getting desired minifigures in sets that essentially include free bricks.

Compared to the Batman vs Catwoman set, it's not bad.

LOTR has had buildings in orc forge, Uruk army, weathertop, mines moria, Helm's Deep. All are buildings (landscape for weathertop). How many vehicles? Gandalf's cart and that little thing in the Uruk army pack. I don't see a problem with the bringing out the Corsair's ship. I think it will sell well. It is hardly a vehicle dominated theme.

You should know that DC Comics has modified Superman's costume to eliminate the red underwear as well. They "claim" this is permanent so to the extent that non movie-related supermen come out in the future, they too might not have red undies.

My only complaint about the ship is that it was a very minor part of the movies, which the sets are apparently based on. I would have preferred sets involving Eowyn, Treebeard, the Balrog, or Faramir, which played a much larger part and we haven't yet seen. Was the pirates of Umbar scene even in the theatrical release? I watched the extended edition recently and, even there, the scene is no more than a couple minutes.

That said, I do agree a big pirate ship is likely to sell better than a big Ent.

Is anything ever permanent with comic book characters? I seem to recall Superman being killed off when I was a teen.

My six year old loves cars and can't get enough of 'em. I agree that it's great when something different appears but I do think that cars draw in kids! :-D

No red undies and non-muscular torso ? Not a big fan of this "slim down" Superman

Has a muscular torso, just outlined in black, and some weird silver belly dancer jewelry going on in the way...

^^Am I the only that really likes this new Superman minifigure? I'll definitely be purchasing at least one (well, can't really help that anyway).

I personally think it looks fantastic. I'm a big fan of the darker/sleeker colors.

^^ Just a matter of preference. The new Superman looks so serious and dark. The 6862 version looks bright and more relaxed. I am also biased because I played and like the LEGO Batman 2 video game.

Um. No. I'm definitely on board as well. I'm not so sure about the new movie, though... :-/

I love it. I'd like to see as many different versions from the over the years as possible. We already have a red undie Supes. Can't wait to pick this up along with the DVD Clark Kent figure.
