Group build projects?

I'm relatively new to the whole AFOL community and as such I don't have a huge inventory of pieces, not like some of you that have hundreds of thousands anyway. This makes MOCing on any great scale difficult, and to be honest I'm not the most creative when it comes to original ideas.

So, I wondered if there are any regular groups, get togethers, community build projects that go on, and how best to get involved? Best to join a LUG? Above all else I love building, so the opportunity to contribute to some kind of project would be great.

Sounds like Brickish would be your local one, and if so you're in luck because they are among the largest and most active.
