I noticed that the Classic Blue Spaceman has shot up in price. Even the re release went up in price. Obviously, because of the movie.

We people yes. The masses that graze at Target, Walmart, etc. no.

I managed to grab a few before the movie came out, knew they would shoot up but saw some on ebay for £20+, which is mad given I'd bought them for £2 a piece a few weeks earlier.

I'm going to crack open those Display cases that had the Blue Spaceman and sell those ASAP

Borrowing from my post on the set market value thread.

Minifigs from #6866. For me, Deadpool is going to be the main one to hold, with Wolverine being redone (although in a different version) and Magneto being crap.

I wonder how Captain America (#6865) will hold up to, as he is being redone (again in a different version).

Speaking from what ive been seeing #6865 is already being affected by the new release. .ive already had to lower my prices to reflect the new set out there in the wild..
I would hang onto #6865 myself and ride it out. Cap in that set is dark blue with dark red hands and shield. #76017 has the TV cartoony version with lighter blue and lighter red hands/shield. The former looks far superior, especially with the expression.

^I found that every release of Boba Fett has not really cut into the price Cloud City Boba Fetts. I also see the same with the original Watto. Newer versions of both are far superior, but people are still buying/investing in the older versions.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
I'm with Tensor on this one. The 6865 will increase over time, as it represents the movie version of Cap and was only available in that small set. Future versions will be different and that will keep pricing up in the long run.

Just look at Batman and draw conclusions from there. Every suit holds its own and does not decrease in value with more versions released. Most expensive normal one is the Light Bley with Navy Blue & gold belt which is easily over $50. The SDCC version (Black Movie version) should fetch over $100 without card even.

#6866 has consistently risen in price in amazon:
it sold for 49.99$ on 2014.02.07
it sold for 63.95$ on 2014.03.24
having said that... will it reach $100 :P

What ya'll think about the Darth Revan figure in terms of value? Lot of people on the board say "wait till mass of these pop up on ebay",to be honest i guess this year is different compared to the other "may the fourth"promos! TLG seemed to ran out of these fast, and were really strict about the "one per household"policy i would think there are far less Revans out there compared to for example Hoth Han!
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
    I reckon a plateau of $20-$25 / £12-£15, with a slow rise after that.

I think the poly will be rarer than previous years given the lack of decent deals this year. But that the rarity of the poly will be offset by the (slight) obscurity of the character.

  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
I´ve just recognized that even here on the board a lot of people are after the poly, and since the "sale" on "may the…"was rather lame in the states it makes the figure even rarer on the market. Beeing a OT-guy i´ve had no idea who Revan is, but it seems that a lot SW Fans are big Revan fans, so even when it´s a rather obscure character (hello TC-14) the fact that he´s not all over the place (like Han was)makes me believe that he's´a good "investment"

^Even more so if Revan shows up in Ep. VII: The Ancient Fear

^Even more so if Revan shows up in Ep. VII: The Ancient Fear

Is he supposed to show up in the upcoming movie???

  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
I heard he made the list of EU to Canon characters, along with Starkiller. So I'm actually expecting for Revan to show up in either the new Ep 7-9, Rebels or one of the stand-alone movies. But it's all conjecture right now.
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
Would make sense since otherwise would´t Disney had forbid that TLG releases a non canon figure?!
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
    edited May 2014
You are right on that. Disney is first stepping it up with the SW parades with limitations on which characters are not allowed to be represented. Mara Jade is one of them, which I'm sure is a big disapointment for EU fans.

    http://clubjade.net/?p=57224#more-57224

On another note, I just heard Disneyland is redoing Tomorrowland into being Star Wars Land woohoo! So we can expect to see many characters walking about in the flesh in the near future.

I have a stupid problem with Starkiller being being Star Wars canon...I haven't really played Force Unleashed, but I have watched all of Babylon 5...so I hear Starkiller and I think of Commander Sheridan from the series. Darn cross reality name confusions.

I know so little of the SW EU that I think any EU characters featuring in future films will be lost on me, but I'm sure it'll make the EU fans happy.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
And once JJ adds lens flare to Ep. VII, you'll also have problems with keeping Trek out of mind too. Return of Khan, the Wrath of Jar Jar, etc.

They will most likely introduce Starkiller in Rebels by his birth name of Galen Marek. As he is the one that sparks the creation of the Rebel Alliance by sacrificing himself. His family crest, the red Starbird, was chosen as the rebel's icon.

So, how about that bumlbebee girl? Bricklink price guide may be an indication that she has mutated into one of those africanized bees or something..? And bunny suit guy into the killer rabbit?
Where will these animal suits end up? Right now they are just going up up up, it seems.

^i remember getting bumble bee girl one time and without a second thought in mind handed it off to my neice. Now, not saying I still wouldn't have given it to her but maybe it would have taken that second or third thought before I did had I known.

As far as Darth Revan, he's selling for $30-35.
  • GuroooGurooo Member Posts: 268
Very very very good indeed! I... uhm, I check that price guide every day.

The kawaii factor obviously make them very attractive to little girls. Our daughter also has a Bumblebee girl, but I have more so I don't mind. It's her favorite, of course. Mine too!

Lizard man and Gorilla guy are also on the up. I think some sellers are catching on to animal suits and instantly thinking new ones are worth that too. It's funny to see some of the newer ones get listed on BL at $20 or more (Piggy, Unicorn). It'll take a while for them to get there.
  • GuroooGurooo Member Posts: 268
I was very surprised to see the bee go up in price, series 10 seemed to be around for a long time here. I know a place that still have loads of them. No more bees, though, because of me.
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
Personally, most of the animal suits do nothing for me, apart from the Lizard Guy & Gorilla Guy, mine will eventually be sold. Those two, well think Godzilla & King Kong costumes at a party, brilliant for a Halloween party vignette.

Holy moley, I had no idea the Bee, Lizard, Gorilla, etc. suit minifigs were going for that much. I bought all of those for my kids. Wow!
  • theLEGOmantheLEGOman Member Posts: 1,524
Quite fancy a Lizard guy myself, wasn't collecting cmf's when they came out.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
The animal suits have been my favorites since the beginning. I compulsively bought them each series. I think I have 10 or more bee girls. I've been buying every unicorn and hot dog guy I find too. I need to start selling them though. I could get a modular with my bee girls.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
I like the lizard suit guy because it reminds me of an early episode of The A-Team

Remember the Bumblebee Girl was 2 in a series of 60 so slightly harder to find. Hot Dog Guy and Unicorns are both 3 from 60. I have no doubt they will increase in value, although for many sellers they seem to have decided this from the start.

Team GB Brawny Boxer is another one that has gone a bit crazy.

I think series 10 was way over produced compared to the distribution I'm seeing for series 13, which may balance it all out in the end.
  • ZonZon Member Posts: 213
With the aid of Brickseek, I have stumbled upon a box of 120 Series 10 minifigs in the back of my local Target.  An employee brought the box out, opened it, and counted them all.  It's one of those boxes that you see on the sides of endcaps. They have not been picked over thankfully.  The bad news is that they are marked up to $3.99 instead of $2.99, bringing the total up to ~$510 with tax, and out of my price range (doh!).  They are willing to give the endcap box along with the outer box it came in as well.

My questions to you all:  Is it worth trying to put together the extra money to buy these?  Would you buy these up?

I would just cherry pick personally. I'm not sure what the fig distribution was on that series in the Big box but lately it's been random. As in not 6 full sets in the box.

Look for Mr. Gold and get all bumblebees for sure.

Aren't the contents just double the regular 60 boxes? If so you will get 4x bumblebees. But you will also get 12x skydivers and 12x motorcycle mechanics. If you are planning on reselling them, then you could probably work out what you will make before buying them.

However, now the box is open you cannot be sure that no-one else is cherry picking them in the meantime and if the store finds some other lose ones to add to the box.

Personally, I'd leave them if it is all or nothing. If you can cherry pick them, go and find the bees and the other less common ones.

@Zon with the chance of a Mr Gold, it would be a BIG GAMBLE, but if you were lucky enough to find one, you'd have made your money back & then some. From there, the rest of the figures would be pure profit...

Thanks folks. When I left last night, the box was back in its outer box, and likely on its way back to where it came from. I will likely go back today or tomorrow and cherry pick the bees and cross my bricks for a Mr. Gold. :)

    Also the librarians
  • ZonZon Member Posts: 213
Well, I'm glad I didn't pony up for the whole box!  They had indeed taken it to the back of the store again, so no one had gone through it.  I really think they'd sell out pretty quick if they put them on the sales floor.  CMFs go quick at that Target (except Simpsons, which lingered on forever).

I spent about an hour contently feeling my way through the packages.  Out of the 120 minifigs, there were only 2x Bumblebee Girls, 2x Librarians, and 1x Medusa (and 0 Mr. Gold).  I don't have exact counts on the others, but there were a LOT of Warrior Women.

I also picked up a Roman Commander and a Paintball Player for my kids. :)

Thanks again for the tips - it was fun!

No Mr Gold? Well at least you didn't go all in, that would have hurt.
BTW, what is brickseek, cause I'm kind of curious, does it locate unsold TLG products? I'd be curious to know if there are any finds like that around my way, still need a few from series 10.

brickseek.com has a Walmart and Target inventory search.  I have used it (with great success) to locate hard to find and retired products.  I have found it to be mostly accurate, with only a couple of instances where the employee could not locate the item.  You'll have to hunt down the item/DPCI numbers, but that's part of the hunt!
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
Damn, I guess if its Walmart & Target inventories, then the likelihood that they'd have Australian store would be less than zero... Frak!

Time to ressurect this thread again;)
I wonder how the overwhelming supply of fake Minifigures (and they become even harder to identify as fakes) will hurt the value of Minifigures in general, but especially those rarer/more expensive ones?
I´ve almost bought a lot of fake POTC Figures which included a Davy Jones which looked exactly like the real deal! From now you can never be sure when buying lots of off Ebay that it doesn´t contain any fake figures!

^ they do have an effect at both ends of the market. If buying on eBay always ask the direct question "is this genuine Lego".

@Diggydoes I bought a lot of superhero minifigs from ebay and they were all fakes. I will say they were very good/close fakes. As a lego fan I was able to detect that they were fake. I only spent 20$ on them so it wasn't a major loss.

A few points I would like to bring up from this resurrected thread.

With the new series 14 minifigures out, what will be the ones that increase in value or is in the most demand? Checking bricklink it seems to be the cat-woman and the spiderlady. Also the ghost is a little higher in price. I know it is still early to tell but what are your predictions?

Scooby-doo sets were released recently. Velma right now only comes in the Mystery Mansion which is a 90$ set. Her value according to bricklink is roughly 20$. Do you think Lego will release another wave of scooby-doo containing Velma in a smaller set?

Some rumors are floating around that there may be a Ghostbusters HQ. Each figure that comes with the Ecto-1 is roughly 6$ according to bricklink. If the HQ does become a set would you expect different printing on the figure's torso and legs? Or will they reuse the ones in the Lego ideas set?

What CCC said is the best way to go about this. If the seller lies and you find out they are KO's then PayPal has your back.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
^^ for GB I'd hope new prints.

For S14 CMF, this is an interesting series. People like different ones, so the favourite is spread quite wide. This is quite different to previous series where most people's favourite was one of maybe just 2 or 3. The ones to do well will be the frequency three per box ones.
