^^ Welcome to the forum @legocollector2! Just a tip: since you're looking to buy/trade for these, it would probably be better to make a thread in the marketplace category rather than posting here :-).

I'm curious to hear if anyone has any guesses on Mr. Gold's value on websites such as eBay, come May? Now that we have more information on the figure (and that April Fool's Day is over), I think it's safe too venture a few guesses.
  • BeavBeav Member Posts: 303
He's in higher availability than the SDCC figs, and hasn't got the desirability of gold C-3PO, so I'd say about £40-£60, but the first few might go for more.
  • GothamConstructionCoGothamConstructionCo Member Posts: 825
I'm more intrested to know how many of the 5000 will end up in kids Lego boxes :)
I gave my six year daughter a TC-14 and the look on her face was worth more than the market value.

Will Mr golds value be based more on rarity or the finish? as is case for chrome minifigures
I think as he is not counted as part of the collection I can't see completists fighting over auctions and inflating his value.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
^ Some collectors will want him, others will not if he is a high price. Desirability is often linked to attainability. If it is not attainable, then you train yourself not to want one and justify why. If it then dropped to 10% of the price, I'm sure many collectors' views would change.

^^A collector won't see him (Mr Gold) as being "not counted as part of the collection". So if anything, I think we will see a big bidding war for certainly the first few that appear.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
^ He isn't part of the official collection, as shown on the sheets, so collectors can justify that he is not part of the set if they want to. And let's face it, some of them will have to do that if they want to remain complete. Same thing with the toy soldier coming with the CMF book. He is not part of the official collection as he doesn't appear in the leaflets. Although he will be much cheaper.
  • maniacmaniac Member Posts: 867
^If you go by the official website though, he is listed in the same manner as the other figures. So some collectors will see him as counting towards the collection.

I think it will depend on wether Lego does more of these "chase" figures in future Series or not. If they do, I think he'll hover around $75 eventually. If its a one time thing, I could see his price going to $200+ one to two years down the road. Prices will vary with it being a sealed one or opened one too.

Only 5000 are being made, so I think all or most mini figure collectors will be interested in this. Im a mini fig collector but Im not that into the CMF, I have a sealed Series 1 Zombie and a complete Series 10 and thats it but Im definitely gonna be looking to buy one of these off eBay when I can.
  • GothamConstructionCoGothamConstructionCo Member Posts: 825
I'm not a collecter and will only by multiples of the CMFs I like. Having said that if I were to find a Mr Gold I would hold onto him but as you say @CCC if should his price appear attractive enough I would think twice about collecting him. Although I dont see him selling at a price I could ever find attractive.

How could you possibly have a sealed mr Gold?, unless you know its one by feeling it, but then you could get anybody saying they had one and sell it on ebay claiming it to be a Mr Gold only to be scammed.

I guess you could run it through an airport scanner for proof if your lucky enough to work at one :D

@Legofanscott Lots of people sell specific CMF still sealed on ebay. Thats how I got my zombie from S1. For him, all I had to do was feel for the shovel and chicken leg to tell it was the zombie.

Its not too hard to feel the pack and tell whats inside. I just did this with the Forest Maiden from S10. It was the last one I needed so when I was at TRU I felt through a couple of packs and sure enough, I found one and could tell by the sloped dress piece and by the bow and arrow. I even did a trade on here a few weeks ago and all the specific figures I traded for came still sealed in the pack.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
    ^When I sell CMF's, 98% are still sealed

You have to feel for the Minifigures in Series 1and 2 BTW. All you have to do is scan them.

I think the first 2 or 3 may fetch $200-$250, then settle in around $150 BIN. I'm sure there will also be lower auction prices, maybe even the good steal at $75ish, but auctions tend to end lower than BIN sales. (And yes, I'm talking about sold BIN's, not asking price, but unsold:))

They are more common then the SDCC figures, but I think they have a larger amount of collectors, not all will be found, and some will find their way into kids boxes.

I'm not a CMF collector, but am a completionist of the things I do collect. If I was a CMF collector, I would need a Mr. Gold to feel my collection is complete. I'm sure other completionsts would feel the same way.

@Samiam391 - I would hazard a guess at between £50 and £80 for Mr Gold. I think they are fairly comparable to the Comic Con exclusives from the point of view of collectability, so ought to fetch some way below £100 I imagine.

To me the cost is almost unimportant, I know I will end up deciding I 'need' the Minifigure as I am a total completionist. If I was lucky enough to find one, so much the better, but I will shell out if necessary and I think there will be some competition for the 5000 Mr Golds out there...

What ya'll think when is the chrome-gold C-3PO reaching it's plateau? When i came out of my Dark-ages like 2 1/2yrs ago this one was going for about 100€ sealed, nowadays the lowest price seems to be around 200/250€?!
And it keeps rising and rising...
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
^ I reckon it is unlikely to plateau. People will always want that one, as ones for sale become rarer then prices will continue to increase. Maybe not as fast as they did, but they will keep going up slowly. Unless a huge batch is found and put on the market all at once.

    ^I would agree with that.

A year or two ago, I would have guaranteed that it was going to plateau within a few months.

However, since the announcement of the new Star Wars movies, it will continue too slowly climb in price. Right now, in my opinion, it has no ceiling. However, whatever the ceiling may be, it's going to take its jolly time getting there.

^, ^^, isn't it also the only poly that has its limited number (10,000) printed on the bag ? That can only help its value.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
@roxio- Correct! There are more than 10k, but it is relatively close.

Anyone know anything about this TMNT figure

@roxio, it's the same as the shadow Leo given out at NYCC, the only difference is this one comes in a tin with a numbered card inside (eg. 21/400)

Hope that answers your question? :o)

Any thoughts on the long term value of the Target exclusive Bilbo? The prices seem to be steadily increasing and the number of figures available dwindling. I have about a dozen of them and am wondering if it's best to sell now or just sit on them (not literally) for awhile.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454

I only bought one at Target for myself. The other figures I bought between the $12-$20 range through Ebay early on.

    Ahhh.
  • BeavBeav Member Posts: 303
Think they will do well, especially with the second film coming out in December.

I'm still after one if you're willing to part with one at a decent price, can't get one over in merry England.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
    How low will it go?

Mr. Gold started out at $1000+. As expected, this did not last. The last few seem to have gone for $850, $800, $760, $630. They should be sub $500 in the next week or so. Still much more than what I would pay.

Outside of that giveaway, where else can this figure be found? That's cool that it's in a tin!

For all you Monochrome-Minifigure lovers out there, i´ve just received the new SW sets, Max Rebo unfortunately comes in Dark Azure and not in Medium Blue (like old Watto)!

That's not such a bad thing though, because Dark Azure hands were needed too.

Yea dark azure hands are needed, but we still need the head and torso to complete that color. While medium blue is just a couple hands away from completion. So close, yet so far oohhh the agony!

What I'm aching for though is a Dark Bley torso. Can't believe this hasn't existed yet?
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
That's true but i guess if Max would've been Med.Blue it would've brought the ridiculous price for the old Watto fig down!
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
That wouldnt be bad as I don't even want Watto, just need those pretty hands of his :)
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Also, when's the pearl gold torso and dark pink hands gonna come along? Bright green is also close to completion if I recall correctly. Any others near it?

    "I have a bad feeling about this." Oh, sorry I thought this was the thread for SW quotes! But seriously, Harry Potter minifigs: the books are done and so art the movies, will HP drop in value? I'm actually hoping so because I'm trying to collect them. :}
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
I don't see HP dropping in value anytime soon. I can't keep used HP sets stocked. I have a bunch of the last series sets. I hope they don't come down in price. There's a new generation of Harry Potter readers that will keep it alive for some time. I don't know how long.

I know what you're saying. I just meant it's not a total waste. Plus, isn't the Max Rebo torso Dark Azure as well? Just missing a head now.
