    Are you after 4460, 4460a, or 4460b?

    ^ Looking at bricklink, It'd say it's 4460b.

My CC had a mix of tiles, some were smooth and some were textured. It looked ok with the mix but there are differences between them , not sure what numbers they were, hopefully someone can point you in the right direction.

^^ According to bricklink, 4460a is "completely open stud" and 4460b is "hollow stud" as to what that means, I would tend to think

"hollow stud" is when just the center of the stud is cut out but a "completely open stud" is when it is basically drilled through into the center of the brick. For example the typical "1x1 headlight" brick has the side stud drilled through so that would be a "completely open stud" and most technic bricks have the top studs "hollow" like http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/32064

Actually it appears "hollow" and "open" are both used (at least on Peeron) for ones that have a full hole so not sure. The only other thing I can think of for hollow is if it isnt solid from underneath. Someone else will probably chime in that has better knowledge of it than me =)

Those are the only two posts I can find at the moment related to this; perhaps someone else could help define the two phrases?

Edit: Relating to Uktsumi's comment, it also seems that the "more hollow" studded of the two is textured while the "more solid" one is not.

Also, I think the dye color is slightly different with the older dark red 75 degree slope (vs what you get in the Pet Shop today). Dunno how much difference there is though.

Overall, they're fairly minor differences; it just depends on if you care about having exactly what originally come with the set or not.
